Wurkkos FC13s vs FC12 Comparison Of LED EDC Flashlights
Would be interesting to cut one of those batteries open. It's probably an actual 18650 inside a larger case.
Thanks! 🙏🏽💯
No problem!
i recommend using that battery to charge small things only like a smart watch, to charge a phone you need a much bigger battery bank like a 10,000.
Cool flashlight color combo of the Wurkkos TS11. Currently 18350 sized lights are my favorite. My current favorite mix up is my Sofirn sp-40a with the TS11 orange short tube running a Vapcell 18350 A11 1100mAh 10A battery.
Very cool! I love my Sofirn headlamps. Especially my Sofirn HS-21. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oB73Qtr
That's the DD of 18650's.
That flashlight battery is more of a 18650XXL.
That sounds about right. 😅
Wow, that sure looks like the 26650 lithium ion cell! That Kobalt flashlight reminds me of my former Shustar zoomable head flashlight with a COB side light. It took a single 26650 battery and was a real chunky baton-like torch. It was about the weight of my Wurkkos TD01c. I'm not surprised if this Kobalt was made by a generic OEM flashlight manufacturer in China and rebranded as a Lowes brand.
I have yet to discover who really makes the light. Most of the Kobalt lights have a lot of plastic in the build. This one is all alloy except for the button and rear cap.
@@TorchTheNight Have you measured that proprietary battery's dimensions? That Kobalt might be made for the rare 32700 size cell and probably no one makes a 32700 with a built-in charging system. Battery makers do manufacture the 18650 with the built-in USB-C charger, so I'm guessing that Lowes used an 18650 and padded the battery with a custom jacket to fit the Kobalt's battery compartment. It could also be similar to the more common 21700 format battery that Wurkkos and Sofirn lights use, but it's hard to gauge that 18650C's dimensions in your video.
The battery is 24mm x 84mm.
@@TorchTheNightThank you for your trouble. I don't think I've heard of a 24840 size lithium ion before and the fact that the contact terminals are on one end makes this battery a one of its kind. Its inexpensive price compared to something like the Sofirn IF23 Pro will make this appealing to non flashlight nerds like us. Price sensitive consumers and people who depend on a flashlight in their line of work, eg car mechanics and electricians generally don't spend top dollar on premium brand flashlights are apt to buy this Kobalt. A proprietary battery like this means the Kobalt user is forever tied to getting a replacement battery from Lowes. Some manufacturers don't want to get sued by customers for exploding batteries so they intentionally design their lights to use "safer" proprietary batteries.
@StratmanII The worst thing is they never got around to stocking the replacement batteries they promised. The 18650 version listed for $12.99 and the 21700 listed for $17.99 . Just $2 less the the cost of the light.
That has to be the biggest 18650 battery i have ever seen.
For sure.
Thanks for the idea. I already own that tripod. I will put it to use.
Go for it!
I really like that idea. Putting that handle money towards a good little tripod for my flashlight and having a two for one. I have been wanting one of those magnet mounts for my GoPro anyway. I might try that also.
That's a great idea!
That blue is sexy. I wish they would offer that color in everything
My wife will kill me.😂
Have you contacted sofirn about this? Im interested to see what they'd say.
No. I should probably at least bring it up to them.
@TorchTheNight I bought one because I still like it, and it was on flash sale. Mine also turns on when you touch a magnet to it around the switch, even when locked out. If you move the magnet, it'll turn on both cobs and the main light. I don't think it'll affect my use much, but it seems to be a consistent flaw with their magnetic switch.
Not too much difference. I’ll just stick with my ts10
That's cool how you swap out the tube sizes to make a smaller flashlight. I love my Wurkkos lights.
Glad it helped.
Ha! We all wish we got that look. Usual flashlight gift response. OK, Thanks.
You bet
Cool comparison video! 🙂 I have only four of your flashlights shown in this episode: FC12, FC13s, TS11 and of course, the TS10 Max. I didn't know that the FC12 can use the short tube from my TS11 though, but I'm not a fan of the 18350 battery format. You're fortunate to have purchased the FC13s as this model was fairly short-lived. It only appeared in mid 2024 and has already been discontinued, along with the Anduril 2 based FC13 (both variants). I'm not sure why Wurkkos pulled the plug on the FC13s as it's fairly inexpensive for the build quality and is every bit reliable as a floody torch. Just checking: have you noticed your FC12 experiencing intermittent lock-out or misfiring when you press the tail switch? I have and it vexes me not knowing how to fix this issue permanently. 🔦😠
I have had no issues with my FC12 at all. Maybe you just had bad luck. I saw it was on sale for only $19 today. wurkkos.com/products/wurkkos-fc12-rechargeable-tactical-flashlight?DIST=QEJCFFs%3D
@@TorchTheNight Apologies, I left out a vital qualifier. The FC12 batch that is plagued with the lock-out problems is the second one, which has a normal and a tactical mode but no stepless ramping. The original batch that had the stepless mode was perfect. I've already come across three individuals on the Internet who own the 2nd batch FC12 and they ran into the same issues that I did. If yours is from the first batch with the stepless ramp, you shouldn't have the lock-out or misfiring problems.
Super bright for such a small light.
It sure is. It's one of my favorite lights.
I thought it might be one of those flat pack batteries inside. Actually surprised it was a regular 14400 battery.
I thought the same thing.
What is that small round puck shaped thing at the bottom?
It is part of a geode cut out into a puck shape. It have UV glowing properties.
Thanks for the vid. I am happy with the Wurkkos DL08 so far. The UV light is a little weak in output though.
Yes, not so bright but, the other lights work well and i love the feel and shape of the flashlight.
My laser is way worse that that. It is to the right and down. I broke my original one and ordered the Pro. Not too happy.
Sorry. some people have had better luck than us with this light.
Anduril's default thermal limit has always been 45C (113F) and probably still is. If you want to raise it you need to be in the advanced ui to change it.
My original Q8 has always worked perfectly with flat top 30Q's, no mods
Some flat tops work great. But, many are a bit short in length and cause shorting issues. Many others have had issues with the batteries scratching the copper ring so bad the flashlight won't work anymore. These safeguard those issues.
Give up
I like the bigger battery even if it makes the light longer. I also pick 5000k over 6500k every single time!!!
This was the first thing i did after getting my SR20 mini. I swapped it for and original FC13 tube that i had laying around after switching 1 of my FC13 to a short tube. It does suck that the threads are too long making it not seal properly. But i may file it down.
Did you filed it down? Does it cause any issue with battery being too tightly compressed by the spring? I wanted to do the same but Im afraid it will damage the battery..
I just ordered one today. Can't wait for it to come in.
99% of all Wurrkos and Sofirn(same factory) 18mm battery lights have the same 1.5mm thread pitch, and all heads, bodies, and tail caps will interchange. You can also use the newer standard of Convoy boddies, but they require some modifications to get seat depth to make electrical contact in all bodies. Interestingly, I have ywt to have the seat depth miss the O ring in any other combo I've tried, so SR20 must be shallower headed than the average. Which might work on Convoy bodies without major body mods, might get by with just removal of anodizing for contact.
Thanks.
Hi @akadventurer7563, thanks for the info. See you on BLF .. 👍
In my check, the body tubes of SC31pro, SP40, and 18650 tubes for IF19 extension can be used, but the screws on the head side of all of them are too long. I secured waterproofing with Teflon tape for water pipes.
Thanks for the info.
I found a couple more options 1. The extension tube for the Sofirn IF19 will work, but the threads are too long so you will have the same hiccup as described in your video, but the light WILL function perfectly. 2. I also just got the SR12. The SR12 tube will also fit the SR20Mini. You can keep the SR12 tailcap but the threads on the other end are also too long so the light will not be water-tight. But, again, the light will function perfectly.
Thanks for sharing. Please subscribe. I need all the help I can get. 👍
Thank you. Just got my SR20Mini and the first thing I thought about was that I sure hope Sofirn comes out with a long tube for it. Really like the light !
I am happy with the SR20 also. Smaller than I expected.
I just placed a magnet at the head of my olight, nothing turned on. Just wondering if this is a quality control issue.
Wanderlei Silva 🇧🇷
This looks weak
Misaligned lasers do bother me. It's going to be a tall order to request Wurkkos to find out which HD01 Pro shoots the straightest laser beam before shipping it to me. I think poorly calibrated lasers in the original HD01 may have prompted Wurkkos to come out with the HD01 UV model. It's disappointing that despite having gotten feedback from owners about the first HD01's slanting laser beams, the company didn't take measures to ensure that there wouldn't be laser alignment issues with the Pro model. 😐
Most small imperfections don't bother me much. But, this is one of those that I take issue with. If it was a problem before like you says that far back they should have solved it by now.
@TorchTheNight Agreed. There's a channel on UA-cam which showed how flashlights are assembled in Shenzhen or Dongguan (not the Wurkkos or Sofirn factory) and I was surprised that it's a simple backyard kind of industry. Employees sit at a large table and put together the flashlights by hand. None of the flashlights are assembled by robots, therefore this is a painstaking manual process. Since flashlights are assembled by people, the human error has to be taken into consideration. If the HD01 Pro was produced in a hurry to meet production deadlines, you can expect some imperfections like the laser head not precisely aligned. 🤔
Just ordered one hope it’s not f’d up
They had this problem from the first version, not as bad as the beginning but still there.
@cosminstefanpuie8313 My new Wurkkos HD01 Pro is worse than my old original HD01 in black. Should have been fixed by now. I plan on sending mine back.
You an find the Wurkkos HD01 Pro here : amzn.to/3P3myii or here : www.cameraray.com/Wurkkos%20HD01%20Pro
I love the flashing light on the TS11
Me too!
I have both the FC12 in the same metallic grey finish and the FC13s, but I opted for the 6500K tint. The reason I chose the cooler tint so because the XHP50B tends to be warmer than its advertised CCT. I bought the Anduril FC13 earlier, one with the SFT40 and the other with a 5000K XHP50B. The latter's color temp looks more like a 4000K, which was why I went for the 6500K version for the FC13s. I think Wurkkos is no longer making the FC13 while the FC13s may be on its last legs. As for the FC12, I got the revised UI version with the stepped ramping and tactical groups. My FC12 proved to be problematic as it occasionally locks up (misfires) every 20-30 activations of the tail switch. When this happens I have to hold the side switch and press the tail button until the light turns on. The frequency of the lockup is reduced when using a button top cell instead of the flat topped counterpart. Occasionally my FC12 also lights up the side switch in red color instead of green, even with fully charged a battery. I didn't know about the revised UI FC12. I had learned about the FC12 on UA-cam but the channel owner tested the earlier version of the FC12, which has smooth ramping mode. Not only that, the "original" version is reliable, with no reported lock ups.
Thanks for the extra info.
Thanks for taking the effort to compare both LEDs. If it's something I've learned, it's that Nichia 519a emitters aren't as bright as Luminus SST40s. The 519a is usually rated between 1000 to 1300 lumens, depending on the flashlight model. The SST40 can burn hotter, therefore it's common to see it rated at 1800-2000 lumens. However I noticed that the quality of the SST40 varies as I have a SC31 Pro that's greenish at low output, an SC32 that's whiter with a touch of yellow hue, plus an SC18 that came with a pure white SST40. I'm not sure if getting an SST40 that's pure white or greenish is the luck of the draw, or Sofirn had intended different grades of this LED for different models. The SST20's color tint is visibly green at low brightness levels, as evidenced by the IF25A that I bought. 🙁
Most of those emitters are bought in lots. Some lots come out more green than others and they are sold at cheaper prices. That is just one of the reasons some flashlight brands are more expensive. They tend to buy the more expensive, and less green tint emitter lots. Budget brands tent to purchase the second tier emitters.
Damn its done lol.
I ordered a MAO ts10 v2 and when i received it the aux lights don't work right. No green. It goes blue then cyan then dim. My battery is fully charged though. I have 4 TS10 titaniums and they work. Anyway i complained, they said send $5 and we'll send s new one. I get the 2nd one and same exact thing. Blue, cyan i think then it has a very dim blue in background and no rotation of colors. I give up. I just put in for a refund now.
Wow , i did not expect that little ts10 to be so close in performance to the much bigger one ... Bravo ts10 👏👏👏
Me neither
I still like the SC13 with 519 better.
One of my favorite flashlights also.
I carry mine with me everywhere. Normally in the small pocket in jeans and trousers. It's a fantastic torch for its size.
Or you could just use the button top batteries the torch is designed for.
The flat tops put out more amps and get better performance. Unfortunately there are no high discharge button top 21700 that's why people use the adapters
Ha! What's with Silva dancing around?
Wandi
I definitely recommend solid copper pegs over magnets. Definitely a good tip i had no clue sofirn didn't include one of these. I just purchased a convoy 3x21d and I'm running 3 21700 molicel p45b's also I will most likely be running 3 p50b's both flat tops as u know. Should I run the included spacer? Some people said it wasn't needed but you are making some good points.
If your Molicels are smooth on top and fit tight, you may be good. But, I don't want to scratch up the flashlights copper ring. If it was me, I would use the adapter.
I was using the 7 click hold method to change the auxiliaries. Your method is easier. Thanks 👍
Glad it helped
Great idea. Thanks for sharing.
No problem.
