Up & Away ( rebuilding the air gun )
Just stumbled on this video . I just purchased a used dynamic boxer like this one but after some play test I got problems with the led panel starting to shut off and on repeatedly. This causes the game to stop taking credits and operating . When I shut it off and turn it back on I’ll get the game to boot and operate just fine a couple min . Then it starts shutting off again. When the panel shuts off the buttons are still lit and the bill acceptor is still lit green . So in short I’m pretty sure I need to replace the power supply as the board works fine when it’s getting power. Long story short I’m new to learning how to fix games . Can you tell me what wires are what on the supply and how to wire up a new supply properly? I would appreciate any help from someone who knows these boxers . Great video and thanks for sharing!
I had an issue like that once, it ended up being that I had loose power wire in the moles pin that went to the main board. They get beat so much, that the wires will sometimes start to break. As long as you have proper voltage coming out of the power supply it should be good, check for broken wires or moles housings that become loos over time. You say it’s a dynamic so it’s a kalcomat game, it should be the same set up. When I get a chance I will do my best to get more info for you.
@@arcadezombie1975 sweet anything helps as I’m trying to learn how to fix games because if I’m running them a tech can be to expensive especially for us vendors dealing with so many games . The guy ran carnivals so it’s been in weather as far as humidity /moisture . I did notice on some solder joints on the back of the board there is rust and since there’s no battery near any of it I know it’s moisture damage . But it’s just in a few spots so I’m guessing I need to clean the board abit and maybe reflow joints. But until I get the new power supply this Tuesday and install it I won’t know further if the board is actually damaged . I got the new supply because this dynamic is an early 2000,s model so close to twenty yrs I think a supply change would not hurt any . I’ll check the connectors more closely especially the power connectors. Also yes it’s a kalkomat . The standard black one like in their website pics for the dynamic. I know a local distributor said the machines have not changed much over the yrs so the new dynamic looks identical to the early made ones . They’ve been in business less than 30 yrs I think so none are exactly ancient anyway lol. Hope to hear anything else in the future you can tell me about these
Boxer’s are great money makers, the bad thing and I don’t know this is a trend but I do notice boxer machines outside. They can hold up to weather but they are not meant for outdoors, but as you can see even we have ours outdoors. I must have replaced the main board 5 or 6 times in the years that we have had it, it is possible water may have damaged the board. I think they do a warranty exchange but you might need to go through a distributor. The game will make its money back, people love showing off to friends and loved ones. I will do my best to help you out.
@@arcadezombie1975 right on and yeah Shaffer distributing here in ohio close to me works with them and said if I needed to fix the board to not buy new as they are 1100 bucks . Instead they would send my board to kalkomat and that would be cheaper than spending 1100 . However I’m not sure what the repair cost would be or how I get charged for that. I never went that far in the conversation . So maybe I get charged for the repair or they just send a new one out for less . Since I got this second hand I have no warranty that I’m aware of
I did see boxers at my state fair this year and see them at other fairs too so I’d say it’s a thing. Now I did sit and watch one while it was dead but then one group at a time here and there would play a lot of rounds . Fairs seem to be a good spot and there is a lot of people all day walking through.
Love this type of video, I'm amazed how quick triotech got XP to boot so quickly
I replaced my motor and im still having problems. I could use some help.
What kind of problems?
I replaced the motor but its not spinning. I get a message on the credits...27 on the Jackpot value i get what looks like a broken 2 . Turned power on and off. Is there any way to reset it? I know the wheel has to be spinning for the machine to work but I can't get the motor to spin.@@arcadezombie1975
I have a 90's era IceBall machine and I was hoping you might have run across this problem... The ticket dispenser only works on the first game after powering up. Everything works for that first game, but it won't dispense tickets until another power cycle. I have 2 different DL-1275 dispensers that I bought used and they both exhibit the same behavior. I shipped the mainboard to ICE for some repairs (needed a new voltage regulator) but they said the board was dispensing tickets fine for them. Thanks!
Have you tried looking in the setting,
@@arcadezombie1975 Sorry, is there a setting that might be a factor? I tried putting the ticket related options back to default but I still only get tickets for the first game. Thanks.
@LJandLJ i have never had an issue like yours, we use a ticketless system. I had an issue where it would not pay out the bonus due to broken link between games and header. I was thinking maybe it thinks it has more lanes linked and it stops paying out. I would ask ICE how they set theirs up with your board, is it single by itself or in a row of lanes already linked. I think I remember you saying they tested it and it was working for them. Please keep me updated if you figure it out, i like to keep little notes on weird probes like that.
Do Dave and busters and more please ❤
Do triotech mad wave motion theater setup please but without the errors❤
Curious to know, what card system are you using? Ive seen this reader on ebay constantly lilke no one wants to use this system.
We use CORE Cashless, CORE has been updating a lot of their devices so what you’re seeing might be their older EOL device’s.
nice stickers dude!
Hi need operative sistem software plis
That is something you will need to get from Baytek, any software that I may have is not my property to hand out. My apologies.
I love the attract music on this game
At the end there, you said 'you'll never have to mate them again'. In all my past experience working on this game, it's required the guitars to be mated every time the game gets powered back on, is the firmware you installed a permanent fix for that or do you still need to mate them upon boot-up?
Well im sure they will make a new guitar version and i will have to update it again. I have not had to update the. Firmware or mate the guitars since this last video. Permanent fix, nope, eventually they will have another update or become EOL. But no you should not have to mate them every time.
The bracket looks like it is aluminum. Very difficult to weld. You need a TIG welding setup and experience. I think your zip-tie fix will work well until your new parts arrive. Very clever!
second part? thank you i love it
Cool win!
I'm a little bit jealous that you have the ability to bring the assembly to a separate maintenance department in order to cut the shaft. I am the maintenance department. It's all on me. Diag, parts ordering, repairs, etc.
We have rides and I don’t work on rides unless it’s a ride simulator and thank go we don’t have any of those.
Any arcade that requires buckets of five balls need a good machine for it to be winnable.
This is probably one of the hardest arcade games EVER.
I play monster drop a lot and on 2 of the machines where I play it I won the monster jackpot but the ball ended up getting stuck on the monster hole and I had to get someone to push it through! What do you think could have been the cause as to why it would get stuck and not fall all the way through?
Well the balls should be replaced every 6 months, the balls will start to ware down and become out of round and that could possible be the issue. But it’s just a guess.
How do you fix "burning mode"
I hope you didn't throw away the button usually just the piece is broken on the micro switch so it's a waste if you did Also I recommend you change the bulb out with an LED one so the heat doesn't cause the plastic to get brittle and break again
😂aaaa
where did you purchase the game trailer?
Came with the game.
Good solution (making a game out of it) for an old computer from 2010/2011 :-)
😅aaaa
You can get bigger one and adjust the screen size
Oh man ive seen some gross macgines at some major places. Ive seen a spinderman pusher that was beyond gross.
Candy...Score?...lol
Going back to this. The "your" sensors look bootleg/unofficial. They don't have any official mention like "omc" or "sega gun sense" on them. This explains the cheap build quality on them. I myself am now curious if the sega built sensors work with this game.
The com-any I got them from sent me new ones.
Never knew that the XD Theater, Typhoon, etc used DBOX's motion code actuators. Pretty cool!!
Aaaa😂
🎶
Great!... don't error out... one cannot have too many balls on ice ball :)
Those black parts are like... 3d printed.... You can make them yourself :-)
It was the solenoid that was bad, I don’t think I can 3D print that. I think they told me they don’t sell just the solenoid. So you’re kinda forced to purchase the entire assembly.
@@arcadezombie1975 i meant the 2 black parts that connect to it @1:42
You found the issue. Could be the drive going bad or over time it might have come lose (from the weight hanging). If it does not find any disk it cannot load it's operation system. The game is running a Linux image (probably Ubuntu core or a custom image) and was checking the drive for errors. it's a very small harddrive and probably not as expensive to replace yourself.Btw a SATA extension cord is around 7 dollars you can find it about everywhere where they sell computer parts .
You kinda sound like a tech.
Aaaaaa
E-3
I wonder if that was a polyurethane band on the wheel. Sometimes polyurethane materials just turn into sticky goo.
Man it was a mess.
@4:16 Those RJ plugs are dead cheap and the tool to crimp as well. Wire is available and it's easy too. You can make a new one.
Why are you so funny
I try.
Can you put in another monitor?
Technically I could but the game is EOL and no longer going to be serviceable. The cap kits for this monitor won’t last and I would spend more time repairing the monitor. If it was a home game situation I would try to fix it.
I guess that because the bearings are at a fixed angle relative to the rotating disk it will never be a perfect movement-match, with always a slight angular slip between them. I wonder if a squirt of a dry lubricant like WD-40 teflon based dry-lube on those bearings from underneath would extend the life of the disk.
That’s not a bad idea
It probably is the motor bearings. Made louder by being a stepper motor running at low speed.
@1:15 right hand side is worse.... Probably the rings that they are wearing on their fingers. :-)
They replaced the back lighting of a flat panel TV with their own, put a diffuser in front of it (back plastic)... then a plinko board (that is defusing with white like a normal flat panel TV)... then the rest of the flatpanel tv including the color matrix. and to top if off a layer with some fake fishbowls.... Cool technique! just like a normal flatpanel TV... it also has the back lighting in white etc... i always wondered if they made holes in the matrix for the balls to fall trough... but no... OFC it's much simpler then that 🙂... mind you never have seen these in person, so video's make it seem more real.... you can see it though.
@4:14.. Once an RFID tag of the ticket roll is scanned in the bin below. I has to stop the pusher... Because it needs to scan all RFID tag and dispose the ticket rolls again. If it did not stop the pusher from pushing in more tickets, it could miss any new rolls that might fall in after it's done scanning the RFID tags and after this it also needs to dispose them as well before any new rolls can fall in. So stopping the pusher up top would prevent any new tickets falling in for a moment. It also keeps pushing the ticket rolls out if any are left behind it probably scans for RFID tags again (maybe the rolls are stacked for example, so it needs an extra push). Also you can always scoop for more ticket rolls (if you have credits) even when it's scanning or disposing tickets. This is probably not to slow up the process to much. It would not be much fun to wait for a new scoop once it's counting tickets.... Btw. The extra flash of numbers is the total amount it still has to payout to the card reader. It's fun to see that there is a 8 segment number under the yellow..... why did they not make the yellow line thinner... since the 8 segment is working and is programmed :) over 9000 tickets counted up... wow what a run! 🤣 Though i'm wondering now.... Since you can open the machine.... the RFID tags... Do they share the same ID or a random one?.... maybe the string it get's you (when you scan a roll with your phone) starts with the value of the ticket roll and then a unique number... since it can scan more then 1 of the same value roll....(or maybe you already know).
It looks like one or more of the bearings got stuck at one point in time. It might spin freely now, but better to replace them when you get your new table piece.
very helpful video! keep em coming!
I am so glad we just have two smaller ones lol
Super helpful video man! I hate the way this game is designed haha. Taking it apart is always a chore. Hope that fixed the issue for you!
Issues is fixed but the sucky part is i need to do the other one as well.
@@arcadezombie1975 Haha I hear ya brother!
Your a great arcade technician I watched all your repair videos you really know how to repair these machines
