Euro Nymphing for Lots of Trout on the Nantahala River || Fly Fishing North Carolina
In this video, we had back to the Nantahala river delayed harvest to do some fly fishing for the first time in a few months. Equipped with my (somewhat) new euro rod and a few outings of practice, I give the trout here my best shot. Lucky for us, we get into all three flavors of trout; rainbows, browns, and brooks and end up with 40+ fish between me and my buddy.

In this video that covers about a day and a half, we find ourselves at my favorite delayed harvest river, the Nantahala. Equipped with an egg pattern and a perdigon, I catch plenty of rainbows, browns, and brook trout with the indicator setup. I spend most of this video fishing various pocket water and it worked well that day. Gear: Rod: 4WT Orvis Clearwater Reel: Orvis Clearwater II Fly Line: ...
Fly Fishing for Trout on Two Delayed Harvest Streams || Fly Fishing North Carolina

In this video, which was shot in early May, I head up to Western North Carolina for a two day trip hoping to get into some delayed harvest trout. First we fish Fires Creek and then we fish the West Fork Pigeon RIver the next day. Unfortunately, high waters prevent much success on day one. On day two, we find ourselves surrounded by extremely high fishing pressure. Regardless, we each catch a fe...
Trout Slam on a Beautiful North Carolina Creek || Fly Fishing Snowbird Creek
Переглядів 2,8 тис.8 місяців тому
I head up to North Carolina (as usual) to fish a delayed harvest creek I have not fished in years. Big Snowbird Creek is great creek tucked deep into the mountains of western North Carolina. We had ourselves a trout slam catching brook, brown, and rainbow trout throughout the day, mostly between an apricot egg and a walts worm. I even hooked into a big brook trout that I did not manage to land,...
Catching Big Trout on the Nantahala River || Fly Fishing Western North Carolina

I head up to North Carolina to fish the Nantahala River Delayed Harvest. As always, the river contains a stocked trio of rainbow, brook, and brown trout. The apricot colored egg was the big fly of the day, very unsurprisingly. This video was recorded back in November but life has been busy I didn't get to editing it until now, which is a shame because it was a great time. Due to the sheer numbe...
Catching Lots of Trout in a Small North Georgia Creek || Fly Fishing North Georgia
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
I head up to North Georgia to fish Smith Creek, a delayed harvest creek in North Georgia that can make for a really good place to learn the basics of fly fishing if you are a beginner, or just a fun creek to fish in general. Caught close to two dozen fish, consisting of a mix of rainbow trout and brown trout. I double nymphed all day with a apricot egg and a beadhead pheasant tail.
Catching My Personal Best Trout on the Nantahala River || Fly Fishing Western North Carolina

I head out to Western North Carolina to fish the Nantahala RIver Delayed Harvest in the search for some trout, and catch an unexpected surprise. While nymphing under an Oros indicator, I hook into a trio of rainbow trout, brook trout, and brown trout using a fly combination of an apricot egg, a sexy walts, and a perdigon.

Mid October trip to the Nantahala River Delayed Harvest. Caught a mix of rainbow trout and brook trout.
That rainbow most likely a spawned out fish they get skinny like that after laying eggs sometimes
Well it is a stocked fish, so I guess it makes a whole lot of sense that it may have been used for breeding. Thanks for the insight and thanks for watching!
Sheeesshh what a hog!
Looks like a great and successful trip.
We had a great time, thanks for watching!
Awesome video!
Appreciate it. Thanks for watching!
Nice footage!
Appreciate it. Thanks for watching.
If you live in north Georgia try coming to a gold rush TU meeting. Schedule is on the web.
It's a bit far from me. I used to go to the local ones but haven't had much time lately.
Was this right after a stocking?
Yes it was. Thanks for watching.
I HATE THAT. It reminds me of when you're dropshotting for bass and they try to eat the weight lol. IDK where you're at but if you're ever near walla walla WA let's go fishinh
Im fishing on Chatahoochi around Helen,i didn't know there is bites on Smith
It's delayed harvest, catch and release, but it's good fun.
Great Video!! Where on Smith was this? I've fished it a few times as I live a few miles south of here in Cleveland. It doesn't look familiar for the parts of Smith I went to. Is the below anna ruby closer to Unicoi lake or above?
This is the delayed harvest section. Below the lake.
I caught that fish out of that hole in March. Right along the road at the stone embankment.
yeah,,, I dont fish squirmmies either... lol
Need to fly fish this stream! But not sure where to put in during this crazy rafting season. You recommend anywhere good? Awesome vidz tho mane!
Wayah road. Delayed harvest section.
Nice Bigguns my friend!
nice video, i love fishing creeks like that !
"Junk fly" snobs are so funny to me. If it catches fish, it catches fish. Sometimes they want eggs or worms. Have fun catching fewer fish though I guess.
That's what I'm saying 🙏 Gotta do what you gotta do.
Beautiful fish and a great video!
Thank you very much!
Nice lil hog you caught
Hello i started fishing over 60 years ago and have to say i really enjoy your videos your a very good fisherman .keep the videos comming .perhaps one day you could do one on places that are easily accessable for folks who cant hike or walk as far as they use too lol thanks goodlucRick
Thanks Rick. I like to consider the Nantahala delayed harvest (NC) pretty accessible. The river is almost always next to the road, some spots being easier that others. Big snowbird creek delayed harvest (NC) is similar. Smith creek delayed harvest (GA) requires a little walking but I consider it pretty accessible as well. Maybe the Tallulah river near the upper campgrounds (GA). Stocked catch and keep waters tend to be easier to access. I generally like to fish delayed harvest waters as they offer good fishing for 2/3 of the year.
@@LumisFlyFishing tnankyou im looking to get into fly fishing more now so your info really helos .
It will be nice if you show and talk about your technique and presentation so we the rookies or people who are looking to start flyfishing get an idea where to start, I'm in nantahala now, catch my first trout ever yesterday on a spinning rod. Across the endless River adventure place, but I heard the upper nantahala river is where the action is...Great video bro!!
Thank you. Will keep this in mind.
Hey guys nice video and awesome fish. I just had a suggestion. We all want to protect the fish so we can hopefully pass on that experience to other fisherman. It would really help the fish survive if we keep them in the net facing upstream prior to taking pictures. They get stressed out after a good fight. Keep your hands wet and try to let the fish face upstream with a slight current flowing across their face. Cradle the fish upright until you feel them ready to swim away on their own. Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm just trying to pass along some helpful tips to keep our friends healthy. Tight lines and keep the videos coming.
Yessir also give it a little kiss goodbye and thank it for the fight👍 the saddest thing that happens while I’m fishing is when you hook a fish in it’s gills. The even worse part of that is when you are in catch and release area and you know the fish is going to die so you have to let it go suffer . I remember one day I was fishing a delayed harvest spot and I hooked a fish and brought it in the hook was in worst part possible in gill you could see the blood before I got him in net . A DNR officer had just checked my license and was standing beside me and I was telling him man this is the worst thing possible . I know fish is going to die and have to suffer . He seen it right away too and no kidding he told me go ahead and keep it . I know you’re doing right he had seen me catching fish after fish before he checked my license as well. We got to talking more and he told me that stipulation has been brought up and talked about a long time. The saddest part is reason why they can not allow that stipulation is because of greedy people who aren’t starving would catch their limit and just put hook in the gills after they brought it in and then kill it and string it . I know it’s true too, sad people in the world like that and they call themselves sportsman .
Invest in a Ketchum Release tool so you don't handle the fish as much. I know these are stockers but if you fish for native brookies you cause less stress and less chance of removing their slime coat. Nice bow...
such beautiful water~~check out our flies~~~~~~~~~~~~~cheers
Yo I was there not too long ago with my cousin! borrowed my friends rod cause I don't have one :)
Cold intro song
Gosh I want to check that out
I caught a toad of a bow out that same hole. Love that hole.
The whole river is great! Thanks for watching
Doesn't look like a stocker.
North Carolina does a great job with their stockers! Could be that this one has been in there a little longer than most.
Yep. The good ol’ Nantahala. Low crowds and good fishing. Got to get back soon also. Great video.
I would say we got very lucky with the crowds that day simply because the morning temps were freezing. 95% of weekends are very packed 😅 weekdays are best. Thanks for watching!
I just used your video to see which side the reels goes on on a fly rod lmao
I did the same 😂 right handed reel on left side. Thank goodness my son corrected me😊
Awesome video mate! Keep up the good work.
Thank you! Will do!
Awesome Trout Adventure
Thanks!
@@LumisFlyFishing Waiting for next one bro
That's a big one 🤩
Shees the last guy with the beanie on is pretty cool. He caught the nicest one ! What a stud
Both he and the fish are pretty cool 🤣
🤩 Dude you are so Lucky living and being able to fish in such a beautiful place 🥰 Gorgeous trout 😍 tight lines
I could say the same about people fishing out west 😁 thanks and to you as well!
Hey dude do you normally cast with your fly line wrapped around your rod??? I know you can cast further with less effort if it wasn't!!!
Didn't even see that, oops! It happens I guess 🙂
Very detailed nice catch on the rod
Happ New Year my friend. Enjoyed your video. Need to learn how to fly fish. I just hit the like button. I also subscribed to your channel for future videos and content. Keep up the great work out there my friend. Tight lines.
Big fish
Nice Trifecta and huge rainbow! How far is this area from Cleveland Tennessee? Would love to try it out! Just subscribed!
Appreciate it. According to maps, an hour and forty minutes. A good way to spend a Saturday!
amazing video, don't know why your not famous by now. Keep the good work up!
I appreciate the compliment
Pinch the barbs down with hemostats or small needle nose pliers
Yep. Thought of that right after I left that day. Flew over my head.
Upper Nantahala off Wayah?
It is indeed the DH.
@@LumisFlyFishing my favorite! I try to get out there as much as I can!
Ayyy happy birthday
Appreciate it
Great video and great production quality. I live in NE Ga and this makes me want to check this place out. I’m still new to fly fishing so I appreciate you showing what you threw.
No problem, glad you enjoyed the video. Great place for beginners. Stocked hard. Water has been pretty low the past few months but some of the recent rain should help. Hopefully we get a little more.
caught a few back in my day with my moms laundry basket
Sheeessshhhhh
Nice video, thank you for showing the flies you were using
No problem, thanks for watching!
Nice fish ,great fight on the fly
Thanks! It was a great experience.
Dat's a purty stout trout! Nice catch!
Thanks! Hope to catch many more like it!
Very nice! You're really good at getting the perfect drag free drift. I caught myself watching your indicator more often than I care to admit. I also like that indicator you're using. I just discovered those about three weeks ago in Montana and fell in love with them. Post more like this please!
Your kind words mean a lot! Truly. I've been using indicators since I first started fly fishing a few years ago and it's simply my favorite way to fish. So it's great to hear that I'm doing a good job. I'll definitely be releasing a few more videos this year. Have a couple trips planned!
