just a gal livin life (:
it all happens when you’re just honest with yourself.
within the last year and a half, i quit my corporate job, became a full-time freelancer, applied to school, moved cities and then dropped out of school... indeed a few drastic decisions... as chaotic as that sounds, i don't regret a single one of those decisions. in this video, i share all of the ups and downs and thought processes that went on behind the scenes.
in short, we can't get to the places we truly want to be in life if we aren't first perfectly honest with ourselves about what those places are. this step of admitting our truest desires to ourselves can be half the battle to reaching them.

First time viewer here! Just wanted to say, the way you put your thoughts an footages to deliver your point is so good. Knowing nothing about the past - I got what you wanted to say perfeclty. Good video, keep going!
Please post more often, I love your videos so much.
I can’t tell if God will confirm so I asked for a sign, but I know it’s not worth suffering in a job.
loved your editing style so much in this video, what software did you use how did you edit this video ? I'm curious to the aspect ratio as well. 🌺
thanks so much! <3 i use final cut pro! i use a lot of overlays and film sound effects mainly; i do plan on making a video all about my editing process so i'll go into details in that video :) the beginning and end parts of the vid are cropped to about a 4:3 aspect ratio. hope this helps!
@@__nicoleerincan't wait for that video, thanks you so much xx 🌹
so happy i came across this video!! i think so much power comes from just simply being honest with yourself. so excited for you for this next journey (and the potential detours that may come - it's all part of the process) <3 subscribed
thank you sm for this kind comment <3 and for the reminder of embracing and facing the challenges that will inevitably show up, too! thank you for the support ❤️❤️

@ awww thanks so much lovely 🙏💎❤️
This is a sign. I feel like this video found me at the right time. I live in Malaysia, and I didn’t even follow you or watch this type of content and I rarely comment, but somehow, this popped up-and it’s exactly what I needed. I’ve been feeling so drained, so tired, and honestly just sick of crying all the time, the gut feeling when you know what's right is so real and overwhelming. Hearing your story makes me realize I need to start being honest with myself, even though it feels so scary. Thank you for putting this out there-it really means a lot. I just subscribed and liked it because you’re doing something amazing here. Please keep going
thank you so so much for this comment ❤️ i seriously cannot express how happy it makes me to hear that this resonated with you and that it triggered something in you to step into your power! i'm sorry to hear you've been going through such a tough time, but i am sending you love & support that you can and will get through this and come out the other end a stronger version of you 🫶🫶
It is very brave to quit everyone's expectations and choose your happiness 🙂 I wish you the best luck ❤
thank you love :,) 🫶 i really appreciate that ❤️
Great video Nicole! I related to your corporate job story from one of your other vids. Keep up the great work!
thanks so much!! i appreciate that ❤️
Your videos stand out for me for some reason. And I follow quite a lot of vloggers. Thanks for great content and keep doing what makes you happy 😊

Fellow freelancer here! Love this video. Thank you for your honesty 😊
thanks so much for the support! <3 glad you liked the vid :)
Omg weird, I didn’t see this video in my sub box only on my recommended today. But glad to see a vid from you- hope to see more when you can produce them
oh no! yeah youtube can be weird like that :( def got more vids in the works tho, a big 2025 goal is to be posting way more on here! thx for your support ♥
such an interesting and informative video! just wondering how you differentiate yourself from the other dog walkers in your area? i'm also cat sitting and looking to get into dog walking but i saw there are a lot of walkers in my area that clients can choose from.
thanks so much! glad you found the video helpful :) i think that having lots of photos of not only the pets your walking/looking after, but also of yourself with the pets is really helpful; the more an owner can get to know you through your profile, the more likely they'll feel comfortable to choose you versus other sitters! i was also very forward about asking clients for testimonials after doing a few walks for them which of course helps a lot with building trust. and if you're using rover and maintain good ratings & consistency over a period of time, you'll get "star sitter" status, which really really helps you stand out the most i think, since owners can literally filter in the app to search for only star sitters if they want! here's a link more about that if you're curious! www.rover.com/star-sitter/ hope this helps <3 good luck!

I'm right there with you and we're not alone. A lot of people feel the same way, but either aren't fortunate enough to have a soft landing to fall back on or aren't okay with the idea of being poor. I just quit my job after 13+ years and it's lifted such a dark and heavy weight off my shoulders. Although I was making a solid salary, it was crushing my soul. Looking back it almost feels inhumane and I don't doubt it's a big reason why a lot of people are on anxiety and depression meds in the West. We worship that dollar. You could be a terrible human being, but if you're rich or portray a lifestyle of being rich, people will treat you like you're the second coming of Christ. Anyways, I just want to thank you for being so raw and real in such a vulnerable moment. I respect the hell out of that and it's what everyone is craving. Like Thoreau says, "More than love, money, fame....give me truth." You're helping people by sharing your heart and it's inspiring. Ideally people like you and videos like this are going to be a spark or one of the sparks that ignites change. Keep doing you.

How do you like Japan ? Will you back to Japan ? Thank you came to Japan ♩
i loved it there! :) there's still so much i want to do and see in japan so i'm def coming back 🤍
And once you are "unemployed", you are perceived a certain way by prospective employers. But if you are pursuing your own business, then enjoy the challenge. A corporate job (in insurance no less) is not designed to be 'creative". So one needs to be aware of the nature of the business. It's way better for the company, who will benefit from hiring someone that WANTS to be there.
I don't allow a "corporate Job" to dictate who I am, or how free I feel. I am free to be me, do as I want. It's a JOB, nothing more. People have mortgages, fixed expenses and other obligations. So quitting is not an option for many. When you are young, and living at home, the options are more there. I don't feel "stuck" at all. I get to pursue what I love and want on the weekends and evenings. I feel grateful for being employed.
that is great for you! i think it's a very person-to-person thing as to whether a 9-5 structure feels fulfilling or not- there's no wrong or right, just what is right for that person :) and yes exactly, i totally agree and acknowledge that quitting is not an option for many- i speak about that in a few of my videos; i had the privilege of still living at home when i quit which gave me the flexibility to begin building my own businesses without having to worry about too many expenses or huge obligations like those you listed.
色んな所、行ってくれたんですね。😊 最後まで、楽しんで見ました。 また来て下さい。😊

Welp. Just turned 18 and I’m considering interior design, did you attend university for it? I had just quit my job also I am gonna start working part time somewhere so I can save up to start a business
love that for you! interior design seems like a super interesting field to get into. i actually didn’t go to school for it- the design project i did was a one-off that i got off of a freelancing site. sorry i can’t help more D: but i will say the way i got that job was just with pictures of rooms i had designed before. i think it’s more of a field that you can get hired in as a result of your portfolio more than a certification or degree or anything. hope that helps!
@@__nicoleerin that helps, also wanted to start doing art pieces to coincide with it so I can sell the art alongside designing. hopefully I make it thru
@@Jamellii that sounds like a great business idea, wishing you the best of luck with it! ✨

Agree with so much of what you said. Especially the part about feeling trapped . I've thought the same for years... Society is like living in the matrix or something.
glad to hear you could resonate <3 we're really living in the Sims i swear
I left a job where the supervisor was more on the side of a guy who screwed up and messed up and was constantly trying to put blame elsewhere. Where I had proof that he would mess up. Finally after getting sick I left the company with benefits and went to another job with no benefits but the same environment but now the guy was the boss. I feel trapped and I want to quit. I have a small side hustle that is hardly making any move to take off. I’m alone and tired and have no one to really to turn to and I’m afraid I’m going to get sick again. I want to quit and I’m afraid that I won’t be able to afford to live off my tiny savings and try to get my side hustle really going. I don’t know what to do and I’m scared I’m just going to end up in another lousy job. I know my side hustle will work it’s just a time factor. And leg work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
your videos are so comforting <3
this comment seriously made my day, thank you so much :,) <3

I’m turning 23 in a couple of weeks and moving out of my childhood home to live on my own next week! I know the change is necessary and had to happen eventually and will be good for me - but feeling emotional that it’s an end of an era. Not living with my family anymore, etc. this was nice to see I’m not alone in the feeling!
so glad to hear this vid could help you feel less alone in such a big change 🤍 honestly reading your comment is a nice reminder to myself as well that i'm not the only one feeling this :)
cant wait for your japan's vlog!
thx!! :D
I walked away from a 60,000 dollar a year income, vacated my apartment, parted with my possessions, and moved into my truck. That was in 2005. Today, I still live in my truck, I travel the country, I go on cruises, I've published seven books, and I spend my winters in Arizona as a snowbird. No regrets.
thank you so much for sharing this 🤍 that's such an incredible story, sounds like you're truly living your dream life! congrats on building such a beautiful life for yourself, it's very inspiring :)
Keep up the grind nicole! Love the content :)
