DCS Apache AH-64D | Casual Fam Flight | 4090 Aero 9800X3D
Переглядів 133Місяць тому
This was my first 'light' startup and casual flight in the Apache on our server. I have been practicing by myself a bit; barely enough to hover, fly and land. I am going to fly a second airframe next to the A-10C and because I love the Air to Ground mission I will also start working on learning the Apache. I am planning to post my progress in this channel.

Hey there. I have a similar rig but i am still running an I5 13600kf with a brand new 4090. I was wondering if you saw significant frame boost in VR when you upgraded to the ryzen 7 9800x3d? I am using a Pimax crystal light and i was wondering if a stronger cpu would help considering that the 4090 is already working pretty hard. Is it worth the upgrade?
Hi I can't really say much about upgrading from an Intel to the 9800x3D, there are others that went this way. Myself I came from an earlier Ryzen. What I can say is that as far as I understood the 9800X3D is the best CPU at the moment for games. I think a CPU upgrade will definitely be an improvement. How much I will leave to the others that have this experience.
What was your previous CPU? What is FPS/latency graphs? Map? Settings? Multiplayer?
@@unotoli my previous cpu was 5800x3d. This is an old test, I will soon run new tests.
@@Ready.A-10C please do, before you decide to upgrade to 5090 ))
Do you have a CP/G? Or in your squadron do you swap places?
@tamasratkai1130 yes we swap places but during flights it is also about what you would like and prefer. In the training pipeline we start as pilot in the IQT and then move to the CP/G. I did not start my training yet, hope to do so soon.
Do you planning to document the whole training? Or there will be some "secret" class?
@tamasratkai1130 I always try to record my flights, but try to reduce boring parts and parts that are just chit chat. A lot is learned from reading the documents and during the briefing and debrief, which I usually don't record.
Great !!!
Is there a more realistic game than DCS? This looks incredible!
Yes it is fantastic, especially inside VR. My video quality will increase further, still needs some configuration to be done. There is no consumer market combat simulator that could match DCS.
Hahaha!! Yay!
hi haw to you get openkneebord to work with out glitching and good vid thanks
This is one of the best videos I have ever seen. Your radio communication and military procedures are brilliant. It's fun to watch
Thanks much appreciated. It is a lot of fun to fly this way.
Same question about another your video: the RWR sounds are amazing. I searched on the public download section in the 476th squadron website but are not available. Is it possible to have in any mode?
Hi I received it as a pilot with the 476th. I thought it was a public mod, but will check.
@@Ready.A-10C thx in advance
@@Danguard63 Try this one forum.dcs.world/topic/92508-dcs-world-a10-c-rwr-audio-expansion/ I am not sure if it is the same, but it is public. I can not help you with troubleshooting, not that technical myself. Good luck!
@@Ready.A-10C thank you but this doesn't work from a lot of time. I think your files are special. Is it not possible to have?
@@Danguard63 Hi sorry I don't want to be difficult but I am not sure if it is okay for me to be sharing these files when they were shared with me when I was with the 476th. If it is not on their public section I think it was for internal use only and then it is best if you reach out to them and ask yourself. Easiest is through their Discord. I hope you don't mind.

We are using SRS
@@Ready.A-10C got it
how long did it take you to learn the a10 aswell as the JTAC stuff so thoroughly? Very impressive
Hi I starten on my own and later joined virtual wings where I learned a lot. I am still learning, sometimes feels like I barely scratch the surface. You can see the wings that I flew/fly with in my bio. Best way is to just practice, but I always try to combine theory and practice and try to learn a couple of things every flight, which is easy when you fly in a wing full of similarly motivated guys. I add my learnings to the debrief in the comments.
Awesome video, where did you find the rwr sound mod?
It was shared with me while flying with the 476th. You can find it in the pubs folder on their website I think.
@@Ready.A-10C my question is because ED encrypted the sounds files (edce exxtension) and the RAE mod doesen't work at all. Can you share this fiiles with me please?
@@Ready.A-10C no is not available
Do you use a kneeboard mod?
It is called OpenKneeboard
How do you get your kneeboards displayed like that in VR ? Looks a lot easier to use than the default upper right hand display.
OpenKneeboard
dumb
what atc ?
I don't understand your question.
Very very good.
what are the weird kinda "clock" sounds that i hear in your cockpit everytime ?
The RWR.
Outstanding content, as always. Thank you for sharing, not much channel has the similar quality content. Are you on the same level with other dcs modules too?
Hi thank you very much. I am focused on the A-10 but on the side I am starting with Helicopters and first will work with the Huey. I love the A2G mission.
@@Ready.A-10C Me too. 🙂Show some love to the helis too. 😄
Good job , Can I have this mission?
Hi thanks, sorry I don't think the Wing's combat missions are public.
where is the setting for Openkneeboard to get a 2 page display? Did you have to add a Kneeboard 2? Great stuff!
openkneeboard.com/features/dual-kneeboards.html I have zoom and gaze turned off. I use a secondary kneeboard which is mirroring the settings from the first kneeboard. On my primary kneeboard (left) I set my procedures folder as default and on my secondary kneeboard (right) I configured my MDC folder. This way the MDC is closest to the CDU, which is easier for copying coordinates while entering waypoints, less travel for the eyes. I put some space between the two kneeboards so it is easier for my kneeboards to figure out at which one I am looking to get the focus so I can use my HOTAS to control the navigation within the kneeboard. If they are too close together I sometimes have difficulty getting focus on the one I want.
FYI - I'm sure you have figured it out by now, but if you get ALGIN RDY error just waggle your wings up down and it will clear. This happens if you fly straight for too long. No need to re-load
Yes thanks I knew but forgot. Looked it up again and won't forget again :)
How is your HUD have black text? I only see green and yellow before.
Yes it can be done by editing a specific lua. I still have night default color in there. I switched day to black because it otherwise is very hard to read when it is very bright out there in Persian Gulf.
Awesome stuff. Love this channel for the attention to detail.
Thanks, much appreciated.
Love these thanks heaps man!
cool! how did you change the beep sounds and the hud color?
Hi these are mods. RWR mod and cockpit mod. I am also using OpenXR Toolkit to adjust some brightness and saturation settings.
@@Ready.A-10C thanks! :)
I recognize that RWR Mod... were you able to install it after the 2.9 update? If so, you have any tips? Nice videos!
Yes I am using it. I use ovgme and disable/enable all mods with every update. Did you try putting it in your DCS or saved games folder?
@@Ready.A-10C I'll try the latest version again. I heard the sound files are now hidden.
Good job ,Another solid video. It's great just sitting back and watching you work your magic. Thanks for the time you put in these videos.
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I am happy you enjoy watching my flights. If there is anything I can do to make it easier/better to watch (besides developing myself further as a virtual hog pilot and becoming more versed), let me know and maybe I can take it into account going forward. 🐗
Nice
JDAM is the answer. Can't be shot down. Or very low and guns/hydra - but the margin of error is low.
GBU-38 and GBU-54 have been reported to be able to get shot down by SA-15. At least that is what I read on the forum. Am not going to get close enough anyways to drop these with an SA-2 nearby. I also engaged the SAMs low too with guns only, but that is quite a tricky ingress, jinking and dodging the incoming rockets. Will make a video on it soon, quite a challenge and a ride.
@@Ready.A-10C thank you. I didn't know that. It seems like they added that in October. It also looks like 500lbs JDAMs might get through unharmed. I'll give it a try and lob some with my F-16 onto a TOR/SA2 site in Pretense. My Mavs always get shot down by TOR
The SA-15 has a habit of shooting down my mavericks, which makes attacking them with the A-10C a bit of a problem.
Love the tacview bit there - ha
Very nice! Glad to see I'm not the only one doing that. Do you know if that's an actual procedure for the A-10C, or just something that happens to work? The first of my very few videos I uploaded was showing SAM triangulation to the group I played DCS with back then. When I first tried it I was very surprised at the precision that's possible with this approach!
Thanks, I don't think I have seen it in any of the publicly available TTP's and SOP's. I am not sure if this would work or been used IRL, or if the systems are smart enough to do this by themselves. I guess there would also be SEAD/DEAD to take care of the SAMs before the hogs come out to play. I will see if I can get an answer because it is quite an interesting topic. The idea of using triangulation came to me while it was taking us quite some time the other day to find a SAM, we ended up wild weaseling (see my previous video). I practiced VOR triangulation and have seen or read about SAM triangulation on a forum or YT video somewhere in the past, might as well have been yours. All my good ideas usually come from somebody else. :) I have also seen something about finding a downed pilot using radio triangulation, but can't remember how that worked and where/what that was as well..
@@Ready.A-10C In the real A-10C I could imagine the RWR not being entirely precise enough (either the computer, or just the display) so that DCS possibly gives more precise indications. In general an automated form obviously exists (see the F-16/HARM, and all the E-designation aircraft), so an A-10C would most likely get the info from other platforms. But if someone finds themselves in a pickle I can totally see the "poor man's SAM finder" being used, wouldn't be the craziest thing to be improvised during the Gulf wars by far!
pretty dope gotta try this shit!! congrats
Does the 132nd train JTACs who are not pilots?
Yes you can be JTAC, AWACS, TWR without being a flying pilot. The 23rd Squadron is the place to be. If interested, you are very welcome to join our Discord and start a chat to find out more.
You guys are one of the one other group I have found doing all twelve steps of CAS to the Joint Publication standards. If you can, I would give yourself more time from the "In" call to attack incase the JTAC is busy or can't reply instantly. Good work.
Thanks for the tip 👍
Hey! I like the recording quality on your videos, could you tell me how to record video from DCS VR without shaking? I tried recording from my reverb g2 but my picture is not as smooth as yours.
Hi you can use the shaking reduction which is an option in OpenXR Toolkit.
@@Ready.A-10C ok, I'll try it. and what percentages are you using?

I love the hog. What a beast. However I don’t think I’ve ever rtb if in the mission I use the gau 8. Damnable bmp snipers!
Yeah that is the challenge :)
How do you use open kneeboard like that? Is that a DCS specific feature to be able to write without Alt-tabbing?
The open kneeboard is in VR on another API layer. I am using the pen to write on the tablet and don't need to use alt-tab. That is about as far as my technical knowledge goes 😀
Do you know of any public instructions on how to get that API layer setup? This sounds like Greek to me, but this would be a game changer for me @@Ready.A-10C

@@Wheelman_PCAS I am still learning CAS, some of my upcoming flights will focus on itto get my CAS qualification.
@@Ready.A-10Ca fantastic mission set. Will you have a human JTAC? I’m learning as well- in BMS though. And I’m not part of a squad with rigorous sops…
@@Wheelman_PCAS Yes we have human JTAC's or FAC(A)'s.
beautiful man, who thought just 20 years ago science would be at this level. what that stapler sound every 3 second tho
Thanks. The RWR. I usuallly lower that volume, but this time it was quite high, same as rhe engine sounds.
You need to fly other modules as well, then your channel will grow :)
Thank you, but I am committed to the hog for the time being. I am not really looking to grow my channel. Just like to be a spot for the A-10.
@@Ready.A-10C Completely understand :) In that case, epic channel!
“Day 1 of requesting you dogfight 6 SU-57s using only mavericks” 😂
GREAT FLYING
Thank you, we have a lot of fun
Where did you get the kneeboard? Awesome air to air refueling, you guys made it look so easy.
Hi it is a tool called OpenKneeboard. Thanks it takes some practice 😀
Unique skills my Hog possesses ;)
Nice to see good use of OpenKneeboard, don't see many videos using it. I even put Twitch Chat inside it when streaming, full manuals and even use it in IL2.
Yeah I reallylike it. Am considering to add a second one.
Oh boy, a bad day to be person in charge of the motor pool!
How do you get your kneeboard down on your lap like that?? Is it a VR thing??
Hi yes, it is a tool called OpenKneeboard .
Sorry for the Wing's loss, we just lost a member to, not sure if you got to fly with Emmy when you were still part of the 476th but he lost his battle with cancer recently.
Hi bud, thank you, Soran is a great loss for 132nd Virtual Wing. Sorry for your loss as well. Emmy and myself we did not fly together but we chatted some and I remember he made beautiful photographs. Ik knew he was battling cancer.
