Great video! Seeing these underrated Linux distros getting the recognition they deserve is awesome. Keep the great content coming.
Fantastic video! highlighting gems like Qubes OS and Tails really shows attention to detail. Thanks for making privacy tools more accessible, good work.
As a Linux user focused on security, I have to say this is an impressive list! Highlighting distros like Qubes OS and Tails shows a real understanding of privacy-first solutions, and I appreciate the breakdown of their unique features. Videos like this make it easier for people to discover powerful tools for staying secure online, great work!
first. shut up, you don't know what you're on about. second. use arch.
Hi @JoshG7209, Thanks for sharing! Arch is a great distro, but Linux’s strength lies in its diversity. Let’s keep discussions respectful and constructive.
Such total AI trash. It's not even really helpful. And the voice changes are so obviously AI.
Hi @OgdenM, I appreciate your feedback. While AI plays a supporting role in some aspects, there’s a lot of human effort behind creating and refining this content to make it helpful and engaging. If there are specific areas where you think we can improve, I’d genuinely value your input.
This video is turning me into the villain. It's your fault. I'm coming for you.
@SarathS-h1m Oh no! 😅 It sounds like we sparked some serious Linux feelings. Let us know what side you're leaning toward-Ubuntu or Fedora? Maybe we can help smooth things out!
Ubuntu
@FabioBatista0777 Ubuntu is definitely a solid choice, especially for its user-friendliness and extensive support! Have you tried Fedora or Silverblue? Would love to hear your thoughts on how they compare for your needs!
Both Fedora and Ubuntu use the same Gnome interface by default. This is some AI slop. Fedora and Ubuntu are both just as easy to use.
Thanks for your comment, While Fedora and Ubuntu both use GNOME by default, they configure it differently. Fedora offerss a more "vanilla" GNOME experience, staying closer to upstream design, while Ubuntu customizes GNOME with its own extensions like the Dock and Yaru theme. Ease of use can depend on personal preference, but it's great to see both distros making Linux accessible.
I use arch btw
That's awesome! Arch is great for its customization and control. 😊 What desktop environment or window manager are you using?
@@ByteGuardian-1 Gnome
You realize Fedora is on 41 and Gnome 47 right now right?
Yes, I am aware, Fedora 41 brings kernel 6.6, improved Wayland support, and enhanced hardware compatibility, while GNOME 47 introduces new animations, workspace tweaks, and app enhancements. Thanks for checking in.
@@ByteGuardian-1Kernel 6.12
Fedora 41 is already on kernel 6.11, so if you're on 6.12, you must be ahead of the curve or running a custom kernel. Nice! Are you using Fedora, or something else? 😊
Solus should be mentioned, since it's rolling release, stable and fast. Hope someone can do a benchmark of different Linux distros, the independent distros and the offshoot distros. Distros could include Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian, Fedora, OpenSuse, Arch, Solus and others. Check DistroWatch for more popular Linux distros. And then if a review/benchmark could focus on Solus and its four editions: Budgie, Gnome, KDE Plasma and XFCE. And do a comparison of all Solus editions to see which one is fastest, lightest etc Maybe also compare time to install, time to customise the interface and then compare stability of each Solus edition based on a certain number of tasks, like taking screenshot, updating all software and restarting, writing a simple document and making a PDF from LibreOffice and other defined tasks. Maybe the test machine could have a separate home partition? Or four identical laptops, each with a different Solus edition, so it's easier to compare? Solus XFCE is probably the lightest and most stable option. It's still in Beta but it works great and already got the new XFCE 4.20 upgrade around Friday 20 Dec 2024: discuss.getsol.us/d/11217-solus-updates-for-week-51-2024 The next Solus 4.7 release should have XFCE 4.20 included in the iso: discuss.getsol.us/d/11261-installation-of-solus-xfce-fails/2 and github.com/getsolus/packages/milestone/4 (Posted on Friday 10 January 2025 at 02:00 UTC)
@Aku-Signal Thanks for the great suggestion! Solus is definitely worth mentioning, especially with its rolling-release stability and four editions. A detailed benchmark comparing distros like Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Arch, and Solus-covering installation time, customizability, and performance across tasks-sounds like an excellent idea. We’ll look into the recent updates for Solus XFCE 4.20 and the upcoming 4.7 release-thanks for sharing those links! Stay tuned for future content, and let us know if there are more distros you'd like to see covered!
wtf you have some good information in this video and you ruined it with AI or whatever the heck this was narrating your info.
Thank you for your feedback! Glad you found the info helpful. I’ll keep your thoughts on the narration in mind for future videos-thanks for watching!
Great comparison of Fedora and Ubuntu! The inclusion of Silverblue was a nice touch since it's such an interesting spin on Fedora. Personally, I think Fedora's cutting-edge features are perfect for developers, while Ubuntu's stability and extensive community support make it ideal for beginners. What's your favorite feature of each distro?
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm using Pop OS currently but if you like GNOME extensions you should switch to some other distro b/c Pop will be switching to Cosmic soon.
Thanks for sharing, @stephen3260! You’re right, Pop!_OS is moving to Cosmic, which won’t support GNOME extensions. If anyone rely on them, consider distros like Fedora, Ubuntu, or Manjaro with GNOME.
Still not helping. Sorry my frustration ends here but listen: For someone who don't know a single thing about Linux, how am I supposed to truly understand what is going to happen if I choose x or y distro? I understand lubuntu is the light is the fast and one, but all you mention was pre-installed apps. Is it going to run well? Does it lack package? Is it less capable of another one? Everywhere you look to understand the distros it's just says this is the artist one, this is the gamer one, this one is for the old laptops. But no explanation actually tells you what the heck it represents. I understand it's a very short video, and it's probably all pushed by AI, but the fact remains that I end up not being able to tell a single thing about the distros after watching it. And don't take it on you, it's straight up like that everywhere
Hey @PivotLoL77, thanks for the feedback, you're absolutely right! Choosing a Linux distro can feel vague, and I'll work on explaining it better in future videos. To clarify: Lubuntu runs well on older hardware, uses the same vast package library as Ubuntu, and is fully capable but focuses on speed over extras. For a deeper understanding, check out our "Linux and Linux Distros" playlist, it might help answer your questions. Let me know if you have more!
Would've watched the video, but you just used an AI video maker (not just the AI voice, I can see the editing was done by AI, and I also think the writing did)
Thanks for the feedback! I use various tools to streamline the process, but I still put a lot of effort into the content to ensure it’s informative and valuable. Appreciate you stopping by!
Agreed, the content seems to be aculturad and useful at first glance, but the AI edition makes it feel uncanny and not trustworthy.
@@ByteGuardian-1 sorry but it's trash. 90% of the stuff you talked about could be said about ALL of the distros.
Hey @Envido32, thanks for the feedback! AI helps with editing, but I always strive to ensure the content feels genuine and relatable. I’ll work on keeping it more authentic, I appreciate your honesty!
Hey @OgdenM, I get your point, and I appreciate the honesty. Sometimes, what seems obvious to one person can be valuable knowledge for someone else, especially beginners. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I’ll work on making the content more specific and insightful!
No one likes Ubuntu
Thanks for sharing your opinion! Ubuntu has its fans and critics, like any OS-it all depends on what works best for each user. 😊
Awesome video, the new tools in Kali Linux 2024.4 are game-changers for ethical hacking and cybersecurity. I’m especially excited to try out the latest network analysis tools. Kali just keeps raising the bar
Thanks! Kali Linux 2024.4 is definitely impressive-those new tools are a big win for cybersecurity pros. Enjoy exploring the network analysis tools.
The new updates in Ubuntu 2024 were super exciting, especially the improved Wayland performance and revamped UI tweaks
Totally agree! The improved Wayland performance and UI updates in Ubuntu 2024 are game-changers. Exciting times ahead.
Nice video, I've been gaming on Fedora, and it handles Dota 2 flawlessly. The stability and performance with Proton have been impressive.
Thanks! Fedora is awesome for gaming too. Glad to hear Dota 2 runs flawlessly with Proton!
Awesome video! I’ve been using Pop!_OS for gaming, and it’s been a game-changer. The built-in NVIDIA drivers and how seamlessly everything works out of the box make it my go-to Linux distro for gaming. Plus, the performance has been top-notch! Highly recommend it to anyone looking to dive into Linux gaming. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the support, Totally agree Pop!_OS is amazing for gaming. Glad it’s working great for you.
Please do NOT use AI generated stuff... it looks Like shit...
@thiesenf Appreciate the feedback! We strive to create high-quality, engaging content for our viewers. If there’s anything specific you think we can improve, we’d love to hear your suggestions. Thanks for watching!
The video was about some music? I didnt get the rest
Thanks for watching! This video wasn't about music specifically; it might have touched on a broader topic. Could you share what part confused you? I'd love to clarify!
@ByteGuardian-1 The volume of the "background" is too loud. But im not really confused, just check on that next time.
@@sergiovelasquezzeballos3855 Yes indeed, it was, I will take care of it next time. Thank you for your feedback.
Wow that's awesome all summarized in a few minutes. I always wait for your video, keep up with good work.
@utubeviewe99 Thank you so much for your kind words and support! It means a lot to know you look forward to the videos. I’ll do my best to keep delivering valuable content. Stay tuned!
It is not made clear in the video whether the new Ubuntu provisioning feature using a YAML file referred to actually Ansible or whether Ubuntu is using a different Ansible-like product.
I think it's andsible, what are your findings?
@robfl6874 Great observation! The new Ubuntu provisioning feature does use a YAML-based configuration format similar to Ansible, but it’s actually leveraging 'cloud-init,' a tool specifically designed for initializing and configuring cloud instances. Thanks for bringing this up!
RISC-V is pronounced "risk-five". It is not necessary to spell out the letters each time one mentions the acronym.
Risk-five is a good catch 😊
@robfl6874 Thank you for clarifying that! I'll make sure to pronounce it as 'risk-five' moving forward. Your feedback is much appreciated!
@@ByteGuardian-1don't take that from this guy

Thank you
linux is the same sound in linux arch linux arco linux. Use google ask google how to say Linux. You're saying it 2 different ways !!
@mikephillips5551 Thanks for pointing that out! The pronunciation of 'Linux' can vary depending on accents or preferences, but you're absolutely right-it’s good to aim for consistency. Appreciate your feedback!

No matter how good AI text-to-speech gets, we'll always be able to hear the difference.
@JohnCastleSmokeless That's a fair point! While AI can assist in creating clear and consistent speech, it's the human effort behind the content that truly makes it engaging and relatable. AI is just a tool we use to enhance the message. Thanks for your input!
you forgot opensuse
True, openSUSE deserves some love too! Are you using Leap or Tumbleweed?
It's Fedora 41 now.
Fedora just keeps getting better!, Have you tried it out yet?
@@ByteGuardian-1 Been using it on and off since version 12.

BUT SIR IN THIS OS CAN SUPPORT MICROSOFT OFFICE MICROSOFT GAMES OTHER MICROSOFT SOFTWARES ,CROME BROWSER AND ANY OTHER SOFTWARE TO RUN BY MICROSOFT WINDOWS.PLEASE REPLY SIR JI.
Thank you for your thoughtful question! Linux distros like Zorin OS, Linux Mint, and ChaletOS support Chrome and some Microsoft apps via WINE or Proton, but not all Windows software works seamlessly. Web-based Microsoft Office or alternatives like LibreOffice are great options. For full compatibility, consider dual-booting with Windows or using a virtual machine. Your interest in Linux is appreciated, keep exploring!
@@ByteGuardian-1 THANK YOU SIR.
linux mint i use :) got tired of winders(windows) becoming more and more garbage.
@DeathRyder33 Totally get that! Linux Mint is a great escape from 'winders', simple, reliable, and no nonsense. Glad it’s working well for you!
In this case, I'm on team ‘Linux Mint’ and it comes with a ‘Windows 7’-like screen. I really like the customisability. Zorin OS is more for those switching from Windows 10 or 11.
@SvenTasche1982 Great point! Linux Mint is fantastic, especially with its classic Windows 7 vibe and all the customization options. Zorin OS definitely feels more tailored for those transitioning from Windows 10/11. Both are excellent choices depending on what you’re looking for!
Chalet OS has been discontinued according to Distrowatch.
@JDMorris81 That’s true, Chalet OS has been discontinued, but it’s still an interesting choice to explore for those who like the Windows look and need something lightweight for older hardware!
How did you get this far with Linux being mute, it truly is a marvellous achievement.
@@oojimmyflip on a older system with lots of data dependencies, it's a best to keep things up and running and when it's almost free to continue 😃.
@oojimmyflip Haha, thanks! It’s all about learning to interpret the silence, Linux is like a zen master sometimes. Appreciate the support!
chaletos is like 8 years old !!
Yes indeed it's not updating but still a choice for people to experience Linux with Windows look and feel, especially on older hardware without paying for windows.
Next time, try speaking!
Thanks for your feedback, 😃 sure I will consider voiceover next time. It's always a pleasure to have suggestions to improve the quality of content.
When did Chalet come back? It was discontinued years ago in 2016. I used it back then and loved it but it just went the way of the distrosaurs. It's one of the few distro's I used that actually worked well back then and is sorely missed.
Yes indeed it's not updating but still a choice for people to experience Linux with Windows look and feel, especially on older hardware without paying for windows.
Great review! As an experienced Linux user, I can definitely appreciate the improvements Fedora has made with KDE Plasma. The interface feels more refined with each release. One suggestion I'd offer is to minimize the transitions between scenes a bit, this can help keep the focus on the content and make the flow feel a bit smoother. Keep up the good work, though! Your insights into the distro are very helpful for both newcomers and seasoned users alike!
Thanks for your kind feedback and suggestions, I will definitely consider a smoother transition between scenes, Indeed Fedora is always the best option for Linux users who want more control and options over the Os with a great KDE user interface look and feel.
really enjoyed the first look at CachyOS with the latest KDE! My experience with it has been smooth, and the user-friendly interface is impressive. Your detailed walkthrough highlighted all the right features. Definitely a distro worth trying, great job on the video!
Thanks for your kind words, 😊 Indeed CachyOS with latest updates is amazing and more flexible with more control over the user interface, look and feel.
Yup. I switched to Zorin OS 17 and am glad I did. Works great. No more control by Microsoft/
@thesilentgeneration That’s amazing to hear! Zorin OS 17 is such a great choice. We’re thrilled you’ve embraced open-source, stay tuned for more content to help you make the most of it!
This video is giving AI vibes
I agree. The video itself is unrelated to the words being narrated, it is just random images of computers scrolling back and forth or zooming in and out.
@garydoyle5755 Thanks for your input, Gary! We’re always looking for ways to improve. The visuals complement the narration, but we’ll consider incorporating more relevant footage in future videos. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts!
@GlobalGaming101 Thanks for noticing! We try to strike a balance, combining a bit of AI magic with our own creativity to deliver the best content. Glad you’re enjoying the vibes!
Mate Linux is not pronounced Mate as in your spouse. Mate is pronounced Mah--Te, with the stress about equal between the syllables. It is named after the south american tea, which is a favorite drink there. This version of Linux came from South America as well. Orignially, it was an off shoot of the French Linux, Mandrake.
Thanks for pointing that out! You're absolutely right, Mate is pronounced Mah-Te, after the South American tea. I appreciate the extra context about its origins and connection to Mandrake. Always good to learn something new!
Thanks so much. So Tired of Windows and all the issues associated with it.
I feel you, Windows can be exhausting! Linux is a game-changer: stable, customizable, and hassle-free. Glad you’re exploring it, welcome to the freedom!

What would be the reason I would need to be familiar with 10 different distributions of Linux
Why juggle 10 Linux distributions? Well, it’s not just to impress your tech-savvy friends! Familiarity with multiple distros lets you pick the right tool for the job. For example, Ubuntu is user-friendly and perfect for beginners, CentOS/RHEL shines in enterprise servers, and Kali Linux is like a Swiss Army knife for penetration testing. Knowing their strengths prepares you for any tech adventure, whether personal, professional, or security-focused.
The background music is way too loud. Instead of copy pasting a response about doing something in future videos, edit this one. Also, what's with all the AI/bot comments? And they all started their accounts on the same date lol. How embarrassing. Why are you using obvious bots in your comment section?
@ZenAndPsychedelicHealingCenter Thanks for the feedback on the music, I’ll work on balancing it better. As for the comments, I genuinely appreciate real engagement, so if anything seems off, I’ll definitely look into it. Transparency and quality are priorities here!
I suggest nothing Fedora or redhat clone. I know Linux really well and Fedora is still a struggle. Of the list Ubuntu or Mint even though I cant stand snaps.
@56redgreen Totally get where you’re coming from! Fedora can be a challenge, especially for those who prefer simplicity. Ubuntu and Mint are solid choices, and while snaps can be divisive, their stability and ease of use still make these distros great for most users!
Apple computing is way too expensive. Not many can afford it and the software/hardware is not that good really. A Porsche body with a SEAT engine. Windows is just one major problem after another, tries to control your computer and has too many viruses and very little security. Modern Linux, like Linux Mint, for example is sleek, smooth, customizable, reliable, secure and free.
@carltaylor4942 Great points! Modern Linux, like Mint, truly stands out-secure, sleek, customizable, and free. It’s amazing how much value it offers compared to the high cost of Apple or the challenges with Windows. Definitely worth exploring!
@@ByteGuardian-1 - I've been using Mint for many years now (10?) as my main OS and I've had an excellent experience with it. No Windows any more!
