Dose anyone else who actually remember the 12-part Thames Television juvenile / teenage drama series, entitled, The Squad, that was originally aired on the ITV channel from 1st October to 17th December 1980? The Squad actually followed the fictional exploits of a group of Metropolitan Police police cadets as they took part in various community related projects, whilst simultaneously learning the ropes to become fully fledged police officers.
Brilliant this
Nah, i never thought it was funny in the day, and it hasn't improved with age...
nor have you
THINK YOU GOT YOUR YEARS WRONG SIR......MORE LIKE 1986..........NOT A KIPPER TIE OR PAIR OF FLAIRS IN SIGHT MY MAN......
You are correct. I will correct the date. Thanks for npticing.
Spiffing what
An amazing series extremely unique a total masterpiece never be anything to equal it a total gem
What a terrible sounding theme song, lousy music, lousy voices, and lousy lyrics.
Great episode, written by Eric Sykes, takes me back to childhood Christmases in the 'seventies. Eric and Hattie were a fantastic team. Loved Deryck Guyler too (I expected him to get his washboard out!) This was Christmas 1975, not 1977 as titled.
wickedly hilarious... no one does drag like the Brits!
Well written, there were certainly worse sitcoms made.
I remember hinge and bracket while I was growing up
This was a decent show. How many episodes were there in this series?
3 seasons of 6 episodes each plus a Christmas special.
As a big fan of the classic films series, these tv specials were a bit of a let down. The gags that worked so well in the films, sadly didn't work the same magic for tv. The best Christmas Special was (In my opinion) the very first one (1969). This one also starred Sid James, Charles Hawtrey, Terry Scott, Bernard Bresslaw and last but by no means least, a Special guest appearance by the brilliant Frankie Howerd. Frankie was on top form as always and dominated each sketch and it's hilarious. As Kenneth Williams refused to appear in these specials, having Frankie as a guest replacement was a fantastic idea. I've no doubt that other fans of the films will love these tv specials, but for me the 1st Christmas Special will always be my favourite, the others sadly just paled in comparison.
3:56 'Bulldog' Slater's mother.

I do love camping in Africa! But, i guess I will have to make do with "camp", in Africa! I guess that I can " Carry On..."😉
This would have been the perfect episode for John Inman to make a guest appearance, perhaps a double performance; Mr. Humphries and his mother out shopping, with Mrs. Slocombe as the saleswoman.Just saw that the script was written by that raconteur par excellence, Giles Brandreth. No wonder it is top drawer!
when they ran out of ideas
Stephen Yardley, this man was everywhere on uk tv in the 1970s!
Sound gone
Who is making it difficult to repeat this series? It would've popped up on Forces Tv or That's Tv by now!
Very good
The supermarket cashier is Julie Peasgood, not blonde in this.
Such an underrated sitcom. Chris Langham was amazing and Caroline Quentin was just 🔥😍🔥😍🔥😍

Star Wars Wedge Antilles in his day job!
This version is probably due for a re-make. Best interpretation of the legend ever. No other adaptations get close to this treatment. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
Just before the famous ATV zoom 2 in colour ident came out- still using the b&w ident for a colour production.
Lawrence olivier has the authority of any actors in history. His talent is unbelievable
