    The apostle Paul explains that being single or being married are both blessings from God. A single man can pursue Christ and focus on the Lord more than a married man with kids. A married man on the other hand is instructed to raise a godly family and spread the faith down generations. Both are equal works of the Lord.

    • @thisdudecast

      Spot on, but most men should get married, and regardless of your marital status, all your focus should be on blessing and improving the world around you.

    Stoicism isn’t ignoring your emotions, it’s making peace with your emotions. Leave it to a theologian to muddy the waters

      @thisdudecast 4 дні тому

      I'd be interested to know where you got that definition from? I think all of us at some level make peace with our emotions, I think stoics try to feel that anything, bad or good, will pass, and must therefore be ignored in the moment

    • @harryadam7679
      @harryadam7679 4 дні тому

      @@thisdudecast wild comment. No, most of us never make peace with our emotions, that’s why there’s an epidemic of inner turmoil in the world. People absolutely do not just come to inner peace naturally. Stoicism is understanding and accepting your emotions, and integrating them, and then accepting that you can only control yourself. That’s where inner peace comes from. Why preach about stuff you so clearly don’t know about? Where did you get your PhD?

      I read Marcus Aurelius' Meditations, and have done a good bit of research on the topic, but I guarantee I am not the most qualified person, but that doesn't mean I can't ask questions and try and get closer to the truth. Where did you get your definition and knowledge from?

    • @harryadam7679
      @harryadam7679 4 дні тому

      @@harryadam7679 That it most likely is. You seem to know quite a bit on this topic, most likely more than me. But I have read Meditations, I have tried stoicism, but it is not the be all end all. There is a better world, a more complete way to handle your emotions. The stoics will be broken

    Philosophy is important because it originates all sciences. It's easy to miss this though because once we learn enough about something that it can stand on its own we stop calling it philosophy and give it its own name. That's how we went from natural philosophy to science. I can see a world where eventually things like consciousness and free will are more understood, and they'll stop being considered philosophy as well
