First Visit to KEBA (GA). Foreflight Going Nuts!
This is the landing portion of my first visit to Elbert County, Georgia (KEBA) Elevation 600 to check out the place. Firelight was going nuts with "Terrain and Obstacle Alerts" which was very frustrating and distracting. I've submitted a support tix.

    What ipad holder are you using to connect it to the yoke? I fly a ‘46 Ercoupe and am looking for a reliable yoke connection.

      MGF (MyGoFlight) MNT-1820 Clamp Mount with the KNE-4040 iPad Mini 6 - Kneeboard/Mountable Case. This is the only combination i have found that works well with the pretzel yoke. On the right side for the 2nd iPad I used a standard RAM mount I had from my student pilot days. Thanks for asking.

    Greats videos. New subscriber. Do you recommend the Erco as my first plane to build hours? I'm new private pilot. also to do Cross country in Mexico? thank you

    • @flyvxy
      @flyvxy 10 місяців тому

      Hi @LA, I purchased the Ercoupe shortly after starting my training precisely to build hours and get my PPL in it instead of renting. I decided to "keep" the Ercoupe because it's such a cool piece of history, a very safe airplane, and a joy to fly. I chose a model that had been modified to add the "rudder pedals" so I didn't get a restricted PPL. If you have your license already then you could chose one of the classics with coordinated controls and no rudder pedals. I don't know much about flying in Mexico but I did do all of my Cross-Country flights in the Ercoupe with no issues. There are many things to learn about these little planes but once you master them you would love it. I'd recommend you watch "Fearless Flyer, The History of the Ercoupe" by Don Abbott on UA-cam and also join the "Ercoupe Owners & Enthusiasts" Group on Facebook lo learn more just to get you started. Good luck and let me know if you end up getting one. Remember, here in the US we say we aren't just Ercoupe Owners but rather Ercoupe Caretakers for the next generation. These little planes do not fit ALL missions but if it fits yours it will richly reward you.

    Hi.Nice videos and good looking rig. Can you tell me more about your canopy setup? I am familiar with the 2 doors/windows that slide up and down. Did you add a third tinted panel in the middle for sun protection? Same material as the other two except for handles on both sides? Thanks!

    • @flyvxy
      @flyvxy 11 місяців тому

      Hi @Brianflys, Yes, I added a 3rd panel of the same plexiglass material and tinted it myself using tint film from O'Reilly's or something like that. I ordered the aluminum ends from Vernon Gregory so that one end is male and the other female and they match the side window's aluminum ends if that makes sense. Makes a huge difference and you still have some sunlight coming through and as you can see you can slide it where you need to to block the sun. Thanks for watching.

    What attitude indicator is that? How much did it cost to install?

    • @flyvxy
      @flyvxy 11 місяців тому

      That's the AV-30 C (Certified) from uAvionix. They cost around $2k give or take but determining installation cost is tricky because it requires removal of vacuum system/pump and replacement of Directional Gyro with an electric one or purchase another AV-30. Best thing to do is to find a good mechanic that understands avionics or a good avionics shop that's not going to cost you an arm and a leg. Hope that helps.
