    I use a leadscrew cleaner to remove old grease and gunk, I then apply just a little grease at the bottom of the 2 front leadscrews and send the bed up in 3 stages and remove the excess and apply that further up the leadscrew in dabs, I remove any excess grease which is usually just a little and apply that to the back leadscrew along with a fresh dab and this is usually enough lubrication. This is the method I have used on my CNC milling machine for 30 years and my leadscrews are good!

    I am a new X1 Carbon owner after using an Ender. Like a dummy I cleaned my cool plate with acetone instead of alcohol and smudged the QR code boxes so the lidar couldn’t ten what plate was installed. When I got the printer I didn’t know what the extra two replacement mats were for (no I didn’t read the instructions) and when it finally dawned on me I figured it went right on top of the original surface and had a whole bunch of prints s not sticking to the build plate even with glue sticks (and a couple air bubbles). When I finally figured out I needed to remove the original one I peeled both off then off and replaced them with another one and voila! My prints stick now! For me, getting the right amount of glue on the plate has been a learning curve but I per much have it down now. I absolutely love this printer and have used the AMS a couple times with about a 95% success rate.

    Thank you very much for your video. Before viewing I wanted to buy a K40, then dismantled it to makes all the upgrades in one run. I realized that the remaining of the original K40 are probably just the enclosure, the guides and the perfectible mirrors and lens holders. I guess the cost of your mods are far above the K40's price tag. I heard you saying there's still a bunch of upgrades to do next. Thanks again because I realized building a whole 50w CO2 laser from the ground up, with the right components and the right build area would be less expensive. I guess also there might be a way to optimize a lot, for example the footprint and the fumes extraction. Of course tinkering a K40 is maybe a fun learning journey, but there's a lot of pros to skip the K40 step. I subscribe to follow you progression. Good luck 🙂

      @d3m0n54in7 Рік тому

      I know I'm probably a little late to give you any advice before you make your decision but I actually went through the same problem and actually went with the K40 instead of building from the ground up. The reasoning behind it was how expensive each mistake was going to cost. I had dimensional CAD models all ready to 3d print as soon as I had the time to start. When I priced out every single component, I had exceeded the cost of the K40 by nearly 2X. Add into that the fact that at that time I had never used a laser cutter and didn't fully understand the myriad of risks, I was on the short track to cutting corners that would have been very unsafe. Ultimately the decision to purchase a K40 was the correct one since it allowed me to get experience at a low cost of entry in time, money, and blood. Consider buying a K40 and then after gaining experience, use it to manufacture the parts to a second machine in the 100W range.

      @@d3m0n54in7 well, it's just like to tell a newbie to get a wrong laser, then have a bad experience with it as it's not good out of the box, then when you payed twice the laser cost into upgrades, you're ready to pay more to build another one... This does not makes any sense to me. Why not buying a proper laser at the start as it will cost you mostly the same at the end, except you will not have any bad experience ?
