The Philosophy of Diego Maradona: A God Among Men
Переглядів 35119 годин тому
Maradona's story isn’t just about football. It’s about class struggle, national identity, and the price of being worshipped. Born into poverty in Villa Fiorito, Argentina, Diego grew up with little more than a dream and a ball. By 16, he was a professional footballer. By 25, he was the greatest player in the world. And by 30, he was unraveling under the weight of his own myth. This is the story...

Nassim Taleb: Philosophy of Fat Tails & Fat Tony

Nassim Taleb’s books are often described as thought-provoking, provocative, and intellectually rigorous, blending philosophy, mathematics, and practical wisdom. They challenge conventional thinking about uncertainty, risk, and decision-making in a complex world. In "The Philosophy of Kurt Cobain: A Grunge Manifesto for Modern Life," we explore how Cobain’s raw authenticity, rejection of perfection, and deep existential struggles mirror timeless philosophies like Kierkegaard’s individualism, Heidegger...

Imagine a world where government is finally…perfect. Where justice is swift, leaders never lie, and every citizen's needs are not just heard but anticipated. No more broken promises, no more corruption scandals, no more lives destroyed by policies that serve the few at the cost of the many. In a world where leaders have failed us time and time again, is it time to consider a new kind of leader?...

What's hilarious is how many right-wingers love them some George Carlin but they're the dumbasses he was talking about. They're the idiots who suck up to the rich and side with the corporate oiligarchs and beat the rest of us over the heads with their xtian bibles so they can "own the libs." Stupid MFers. Yeah, Carlin told us so and the wingers fell right into it.
Nothing more boring than a George Carlin “I told you so” lecture again.
Hi Sonja , care to elaborate on why you took this as a lecture ? Is it the thumbnail or are you referring to some or all of the video? I'm keen to improve my content, so critical comments are always welcome here:)
Anybody can look at the world and tell you what is wrong with it. Coming up with solutions is another story. George never came up with any solutions. I don't find him particularly impressive.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I take your view on board. Coming up with solutions (great ones) are never easy. Often what seems like a solution ends up having unintended consequences causing problems greater than the initial. Do you have am example of someone creating a great solution in recent times? Would love to get your further thoughts on this if you feel inclined. Cheers
Stoics that hide themselves away with their money and usury are Heretics I will give you what gave you the law which is the cult of Abraham which you simultaneously s*** on. Be cool only lasts as long as your wealth insulates you. You hide behind the laws and you hide behind wealth. I agree stay cool bro when not make sense. But the idea that you are being brave or courageous or embracing Life On Life's terms is a joke
When it all comes down will you fight for those things you care about ? You know the fate of Jesus. And that was the example he provided fight fight fight fight fight
Thanks for your input. Stoicism seems good in theory, and crosses over somewhat with eastern philosophies. Understanding it is one thing, practising it is an entirely different ball game:)
What exactly do we mean with stoicism? There are some similarities with stoicism and nietzsche, but also some difference. Ryan Holiday is modern stuff. Commercial. Different from the original. These comparisons also seem intellectually dishonest.
Hey, thanks for your input. The point of the video was to extract peoples experiences with stoicism by highlighting a different approach using Nietzsche as the example. Appreciate you taking the time to comment:)
@Attunedminds it could be that peoples experience of stoicism is based more often on businessmen and social media personalities rather than the originals. Maybe a more thorough inspection is in need.
I don't think he understood stoicism
Attachment leads to passion, which leads to more attachment... Detachment leads to enlightenment. Which process do you consider more 'transformative?'
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Can I ask you to elaborate further on why you believe he didn't understand stoicism? Cheers.
Hi Jim, thanks for your thought provoking comment. I'm not sure yet, which is the more tranformative approach, reason being, as soon as i think one approach is working, it stops working, requiring me to re-evaluate. If you have time, I'd like to have more of your thoughts :)
@@Attunedminds Personally I practice Buddhism. It's a more absolute form of Stoicism. In particular I practice Silent Illumination, based on Chan Master Sheng Yen's book: "The Method of No Method". Chan is the Chinese predecessor of (Japanese) Zen. Chan Master Sheng Yen had written a lot of excellent books about practicing Chan. It's primarily a matter of meditation.
Thanks Jim for your time. I look forward to exploring chan.
Nietzsche all the way brother. Stoicism never appealed to me, ever!
Thanks for your comment:)
While it makes for a whitty comment, that famous "half of them are stupider than that" is simply not true. The average does not divide the pool into halves. If I take 100 people, 99 of them owning 10 $ and one of them owning 110 $, the average is 11 $. That doesn't mean that half of the people own less than 11 $ and half of them own more. In this case, 99 % of the people own less and only one owns more.
I take your point.. but you have to admit the line goes beyond pure whit. The numbers of course are debatable. Thanks for taking the time to comment, cheers
George Carlin and Dave Allen - masters in the craft of language.
i love your videos and your edit!
Thanks so much 😀
A.I. is always misinformation.
Bill burr has a great point of view also!
I remember George Carlin when he wore a suit and tie on the Ed Sullivan show.
Some people sometimes think, "I wonder what Jesus would do?" I sometimes wonder to myself, "What would George Carlin say?" 🤔 So I guess there really are only two types of people. 🤷♀️
Can you do Baggio and Zidane, Ronaldinho next, please and Zico.
Thanks for the suggestions. I have some other videos in planning , ill put your suggestions on my list to look into. Cheers😀

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. On John Trudell, I must admit, I hadn't heard of his story untill today. Growing up in Australia, may be the reason for that. I've just finished watching some youtube videos about him, seemed like an enlightened soul who spoke from the heart. You've sparked my interest to learn more about him, thanks for bringing this up, it may be the subject of a future video.

Shell shock is physical damage from pressure waves from artillery shells. The others are psychological problems from emotional trauma.
How many people think GC was poisoned, just like Alexei Navalny, American style.
Carlin wasn't a cynic--he was a True Believer. He would not have said the things he did to the people he said them to if he didn't believe that that would do some good. If he had been a real cynic, believing the facts as he saw them, he would have played the game and used what he saw to advance himself in the world. Instead, he wanted to help people. I forget who said it, but it is a famous quote: "If you want to help people, tell them the truth. If you want to help yourself, tell them what they want to hear."
@phantomforester9337 Actually 🤓☝️Carlin has said, "I don't care how it all turns our, my motto is Fuck Hope!" And, "the real cynics are the ones that tell you everything will be okay." He's said it numerous times, in his books, full specials and interviews, he viewed his species with a mix of wonder and emotional detachment, viewing society from a safe distance allowed him to make observations without ever worrying about how it will all turn out. So he certainly enriched himself through his personal lens combined with his skills of using language and creativity to write a vast amount of material, and all to benefit from it, his art. (Which is certainly respectable since he was definitely an artist, that was able to find his own voice and then make it into the mainstream, while keeping his integrity.) Afterall, George Carlin was an entertainer, not a social worker. BTW if you're a fan of his videos, then you really should read his books, start with Brain Droppings his first, then When Will Jesus Bring The Porkchops, followed by Napalm and Silly Putty and More Napalm and Silly Putty, then finally Last Words.
@phantomforester9337 Actually 🤓☝️Carlin has said, "I don't care how it all turns out, my motto is F*ck Hope!" And, "the real cynics are the ones that tell you everything will be okay." He's been consistent on how he clearly doesn't care (and that he isn't interested in even voting) in his books, full specials and interviews, he viewed his species with a mix of wonder and emotional detachment, viewing society from a safe distance allowed him to make observations without ever worrying about how it will all turn out. @@Cuddly-Cactus Okay--thanks! He found his niche. Would that we all could.
@@phantomforester9337 You're welcome, and I have an audiobooks playlist on my channel that includes all of his books, if you would like to listen to them. And I prefer them since Carlin himself reads them, well all of them except for his last book since it was published posthumously but his brother reads it and he does a fantastic job. He was certainly a unique talent, and I wish he were still around to see the absolute sh*t show going on in this country. He would have so much raw material he could write another book and a few more specials even! Some people sometimes wonder to themselves, "What would Jesus do?" I sometimes wonder to myself, "What would George Carlin say?" 🤔 So I guess there really are just two types of people! 🤷♀
Sounds like somebody is spending *way* too much time online.
That's quite possible :)
I was thinking, if the Truman show were real and you or I were in it, the internet would be a fascinating part, then I realized that the dead internet theory slots right in there
I see your point. The two concepts go hand in hand , all the more reason for us to keep our wits about us. There's a lot of variables clawing at our attention all wanting a piece of us. Thanks for your comment.
I discovered George Carlin in the mid 80s, when I was a teen. He was funny, but he was a lite, media friendly version of Bill Hicks. Most of my ideas of the world are ingrained in his routines, not because he came up with them, but that was what the youth thought at the time, and he was just repeating it to them on a stage. Hopefully, he will influence a new generation to think for themselves. That really has gone out of fashion!
Commentors need stop with idea of him still being with us today... do you know how disappointed he would be that his 50 year career is celebrated but IGNORED. The absurdity he pointed out has only gotten worse. We listened but didn't hear.
@jamestaylor3805 You must be kidding because he would have LOVED to see the absolute shit show going on in America, he would have so much raw material he would be doing new specials, new books, (probably) his own podcast, ect. If you have ever read any of his books or watched any of his specials then you would know he literally said, "I don't care how it all turns out, my motto is Fuck Hope!" 🤣💀
i thought this was gonna be a big channel due to the quality! very awesum video!
Wow, thank you. It's great to have some positive feedback. It takes so long to put together and who knows if it will end up connecting with an audience. Thanks for taking time to comment. Cheers
the definition of the word Carlin is Genius
Carlin was one of the most intelligent humans ever put on this earth. Sadly missed at this moment in politics, he would have had a ball. RIP George.
Miss him…
He got out at the best time. Do you think he would have wanted to see trump in the White House? I know George didn’t have religious beliefs, but I also don’t think he would be okay, with someone who is racist and is a friend of nazis, wants to be like Hitler, and has said he will set up encampments, I don’t think he would have been against women’s healthcare, I think he was a good person and a person like that would have made a good president. Not someone who is a Felon/ Criminal, who lies constantly and lies about his lies in a never ending cycle 🔄 of lies. Don’t forget the extra lies. But what’s worse is the times he tells people the truth. Truth so horrible that people don’t want to believe it, so they don’t. They ignored it. Now they think he will do right by them, no. The only person he cares about is himself, and money and freedom for himself. He doesn’t care about anyone else. Not the people in prison because of him, no, he cares about how much money he lost, and how much money he can make as president. Documents, which are still missing, but people said Whatever my groceries are costing a lot. But instead of picketing 🪧 the companies and the CEOS, they just assumed that the president is at fault or he should be fixing that. I don’t think Americans know the difference between the government and companies. Or know what the president’s job description actually includes. Costs have gone up here too, but I don’t blame your president for it. I blame the rich CEOS from the companies, the people who are getting richer because they don’t care about people. Well coming soon, 4 years with CEOS and all the major corporations richest people, and a president, which they both don’t care about people. Oh sorry 😞 my bad, they do care, care enough for them to work for them. What more employees? Let’s destroy women’s healthcare, because we don’t know anything about what happens in pregnancy’s, and that we are at risk of dying. All of the things that can go badly. Women are dead, because of their actions. I can only imagine what horrible things await Americans in the future.
Great video! I would also emphasize that from an American POV Carlin may have been one of the first to bring up the subject of the uniquely subversive state of American oligarchy. Noam Chomsky and other lefty academicians had been screaming about it for decades but Carlin delivering these monologues on major networks was undeniably eye-opening to many. He was a dissident philosopher - who also happened to be flipping funny.
Thanks for your input.
"It's funny because it's true!" That can be applied to all of Carlin's material.

It goes over Most people's heads I think at the same time as simplistic as it is sounding just saying there's a more chaotic chaos with a profound truth structure Vice of meaning Amplified in a ridiculous banter but really in a precise kind of seemingly all over the place is kind of way I think it was quite brilliant quite well thought out out more than people realize Maybe
"We think in language, so the quality of our thoughts and ideas can only be as good as the quality of our language".

Oh no, not anglo epistemology. I thought we think in thoughts. I didn't word that thought.
Right on the money. Respect. It is painful, how accurate Carlin was. And it´s getting worse and worse. Already Socrates recognized that people are too stupid for democracy: ua-cam.com/video/fLJBzhcSWTk/v-deo.htmlsi=ueQa6PdmeRhPeT-E

comedians, through millennia, have always been sort of the arbiters, or maybe even archivers, of societal truths. it’s not their job to provide causes or solutions to society’s problems. their main goal is to entertain. but they know what people do find humorous, and it’s usually people’s own failings and flaws that are funny. so count george as one in a long line of “arbiters of truth” that go all the way back to ancient greek comedies.
Nicely put!
All politicians are narcissistic villains.
Oh really

I think it's a bit too simplistic, I would wish the arguments were a bit deeper and stronger
They don't need to be complex to be accurate, no?
I think that if Carlin were alive today that he would find the time to write a very deep and very funny message about the incoming douche bags
