Dodge Ram trucks 3rd and 4th gen, Cummins or Hemi or V 10 are awesome. But rust has been a vicious enemy especially in the northern climates. Rockers, bedsides, tailgates even cab mounts. In this video series I will show you how I replaced my entire rocker assemblies with rust free parts from Texas. I did this by myself in my own garage. And I decided to video it to show you how you can do it too.

The rocker panel design on the Rams is just atrocious, the engineers that came up with that and left gaping holes in the back side to let salty winter slush water in there should be ashamed LOL

It's the brine they started using to salt the roads.... Milwuakee county started using brine a few years ago and I noticed accelerated rusting and soon as they switched to that stuff. interesting video. I have a 2012 but it's not as bad as that yet...

I have a 05' Blazer 4x4 A few rusty pieces on the rear 1/4 bottom (like most GM's) And they used foam as soundproofing..which was the dirt And water cause. Anyways longer story shorter My drivers side cab mount is pushed up I think from a accident before me Always had slop steering And felt off. I looked to order a new one No dice Im down to going to the scrap yard (pick your own) And cutting out one And welding it in Or Having to make a new one Mine is like yours in shape sorta ..Like a size 6 shoe pattern with the heel end towards the center I would have to get a flat plate Then measure the height And cut a strip And bend it in a U shape Then a cap for it And drill a hole And weld in a square nut once centered ...Fun fun ! Hey thanks for the video

Wow this series just popped up out of nowhere! Hey man I just finished all the rocker panel videos and I gotta say you are doing the dodge community a massive favor by sharing all this priceless information out of the kindness of your heart. Im 19 and I have a 2003 dodge 2500 5.9 cummins and its a 6 speed manual I fell in love with the truck but theres always been a little bit of rust showing and I learned how to bondo over it good enough but like you said in part 1 the rust will always come back so im at the point right now where I gotta access the total area that needs to be removed and replaced. Ive been dreading having to purchase all the tools and equipment to do a job I didnt even know where to start at but just today I stumbled across this series and I have to tell you your a great teacher and I am now honestly very confident I could also pull this off. This was the fastest ive ever subscribed to a channel on youtube I appreciate your wisdom and I will be looking foward to any future videos p.s. Your truck looks awesome ive never seen a livery like that on a 3rd gen

What would you do with deep to metal scratches ? I have a dodge pick up and I have lots of scratches a few that are deep but mainly just wear and tear. I’m not repainting anything If I’m just fixing and polishing would I do the same 1500grit, 3000 grit, and 8000 following by polishing it?

Ive never had that experience happen to me. Been using PPG Deltron 2 stage urethane base coat for decades and their premium 2021 high solid clear. Flash time for both between coats is 5-10 minutes depending on temp. Outstanding for painting in less than great conditions.
