Grow-A-Long Cynoglossom (19 September 2024)
Переглядів 26321 годину тому
As promised here is the brand new video for Cynoglossom! Cynoglossum generally is not as hardy as some of the other seeds we are growing (H5). Be careful not to over water plants, excessively wet conditions can cause plants to rot. Sow seed into modules in Autumn for the tallest stems and the earliest flowers. Seeds need darkness for germination, cover lightly with compost and water from undern...

Warm Weather Measures for Seed Trays (18 September 2024)
Переглядів 297День тому
It is very warm during the day at the moment so it is important to not let seed trays fry in the sunshine. If left to dry out the seeds could perish and overwatered trays will quickly be come stale with the air being knocked out of the soil creating an unhospitable environment for young seedlings to thrive. Move trays to a more sheltered spot in the greenhouse where it's slightly shaded from di...

Переглядів 1,1 тис.14 днів тому
This weekend I am sowing my Snapdragons (Antirrhinum majus) The queen of the slow coach plants, we need to sow them early enough to create strong seedlings to over winter safely but no too early that they flower before winter or become stressed and root bound before planting out time. This is just a quick video of what I am sowing right now, but if you want more detail there are further videos ...

Greenhouse and garden Update (3 June 2024)
Is your multi-purpose compost peat free, please, Zoe?
I use my dirty aquarium water for my flower watering. I have mixed results because we had so much rain this year.
Hi Zoe after googling a lot I have been unable to find 15 tray cells with more than one hole, or they don't give info on the drainage. Do you recall the make of yours?
What is the orientation of your Sweet Pea house (North/South/East/East)? Or what would be the best orientation? Kind regards, Alexander
Thank you for this video! I grew them in my backyard and now I have to harvest them and wasn't sure where to cut and when. They're amazing flowers!
Genius, i suppose you could also use old pallets.
It's a lot of work so you would want them to last
Great tutorial. I must try that next year ☘
More information is on my website zoewoodwardgardening.com/
Thank you, Zoe! I’m excited to follow along as a beginner gardener. In the past, I’ve invested quite a bit in seeds, only to let them bake, drown, or dampen off. This time, I’m determined to follow your guidance to the letter and am really hoping for success! I’m planning to set up my second-hand greenhouse in the next two weeks. When do you plan on sowing your snapdragons?
How wonderful a greenhouse will change your life! Snaps are already done, my diary is on my website, here is a quick link zoewoodwardgardening.com/2024/08/28/autumn-jump-starter-2024/
Such a great video! I feel like I know what I’m doing now 😊
I'm so glad! My diary is on my website zoewoodwardgardening.com/2024/08/28/autumn-jump-starter-2024/
Your plants and flower blooms are so healthy and spectacular! Ranunculus is by far one of my favorite flowers next to peonies. It was exciting to see all those fresh cuts blooms!
It’s almost time to start again new varieties will be available shortly
Great clear precise video
That’s so kind thank you 💕
very helpful, thanks 👍
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
Hi Zoe! My larkspur seeds germinated yesterday. I currently have them in a little plastic dome greenhouse in seed cells. They’re in my house (next to window) now that they germinated.. should I remove the plastic dome? Not sure how to look after them now. I still have 3 weeks of winter left. Cheers.
If you pop over to my website there is a whole section dedicated to Larkspur just google Zoe Woodward Gardening Larkspur and the link should pop up to take you directly to where you want x
This video explainned everything I was wondering about. Thank you ❤
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
Very helpful vid. So you bring your yearlings into a greenhouse overwinter? I have several babies from this spring that are doing great, but I am in zone 5b. We have a closed in sunroom (without heat but doesn't freeze over winter except if we get a really bad deep freeze). Do you think they would be happy up there? Thanks! Even if you don't have a chance to respond. 😊
Yes that’s very sensible other the foliage will get damaged and a prolonged cold spell could kill them.
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful example of what larkspur looks like and the info! Much appreciated
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
Love the video
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
I love it ❤. Can you name the flowers in order of the video pls. I would like to plant some.
Yes there is a dedicated page on bulbs on my website x
The explanation of how and why were the best I have seen! Thank you also for the pictures. I have been growing dahlias for three years and now I know to only get my stock from reputable growers. Thanks so much for sharing this information! If they weren’t so beautiful I would give up because they need so much coddling! 🤣
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
That last example, spot on!🎯 I've lost so many containers and dahlia plants to overwatering, I want to scream at myself. Need to trust my moisture meter when it's in the green and not water.
We all do it. You’ll be better next time 👍
I grew some indoors and deeded outdoors.. I have a nice succession🎉
That's great!
I grew some from another company, they look like pompoms, peddles are thin and long. Can that happen if growing conditions are nit favorable. I put seeds in, in late April. First ones bloomed early July, late June, second cracking, third budding now.
I can only comment on my own seeds, but I do go out of my way to get the best x
Perfect tips. I do love the cafe au lait too.
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
Great explanation!
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
Heaven.

Best dahlia video EVER! Thank you! 🎉
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
Hello there, I'm keeping my eucalyptus tree indoors and it started turning black on branches and eventually the leaves are drying out. Its 30 Celsius degrees outside and I'm trying to find any reason why is this happening. The plant is standing near the window, without direct sunlight. Please, could you give me some ideas what could happen? Part of the tree is still alive and green!
I suspect it got very dry at one point. If you pop over to my website there is a page dedicated to Eucalyptus where I show you how to prune it to tidy it up
Just gorgeous ! Beautiful
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
Thank you much for this video!! Big help😊 does this work for all snapdragon varieties?
If you pop to my website you’ll find more information on snaps including different varieties x
Looks beautiful 💜
Thank you! 😊
I see this in my sponge guord plant what should i do?
Thank you so much. You are one the most informative gardener here in youtube. Well done Maam.
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
What are your thoughts on the differences in pH levels between them?
Wow amazing so we'll told
I'm so glad! My diary is on my website zoewoodwardgardening.com/2024/08/28/autumn-jump-starter-2024/
Thank you SO much. I needed to SEE how to do it, and you showed me exactly how to...
Thank you so much. You are the best
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
Growing for the first time, too late for a 2nd sowing and had no idea they have a scent! Thanks for the tips.
Glad I could help!
Never knew this! My cosmos plant been growing for over two months now and it has only gotten tallll.. no buds.. now I know what to do. I’m growing more as I’m not sure if the tall plant can be pinched still.
Got my first bud the other day and a magpie came the same day and ate it 😄
My sowing diary is on my website zoewoodwardgardening.com/2024/08/28/autumn-jump-starter-2024/
I needed to hear this, thank you! I never saw bud drop before (it's only my third year growing) so I was afraid it was some kind of virus. Whew!
Glad I could help!
My leaves are going yellow. Can you help? Is that too much water? Shall I just not water it for a bit now? I’ve been watering every day so I’ve watched your video so I think I should stop watering. I think I’ve overwatered.
We all do it. Hopefully when it dries out a bit you will get some new growth. Cut it back a bit if needed
Great video. I've been looking for detailed instructions on growing my native Carolina Larkspur and this was the best by far. Fascinating how much the foliage changes as the plant grows. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
What potting mix and fertilizer did you use for the seedlings? mine are growing very slow!
If you pop over to my website all the information you need is there including a page dedicated to Eucalyptus and soil
Hi I have tried watering from underneath with water at a low level in the tray which is probably the reason why my seed mix didnt get fully moist. I tried water from above but I’m not sure about the frequency of watering as i keep getting fungus gnats. Also at what level do i put the seeds. Thx
Try lifting the cells out carefully if your try is not deep enough. Fungus nats are a sign of wet compost but also insufficient ventilation. Loads of information on my website if you need it x
I bought this glower at my local big box store. I wanted to try since ive never seen these flowers before. They are small like 3-4” tall, had one bloom and now the little flower have fallen. I cut the seed pods. I am hoping they grow larger and many blooms. 😅
My sowing diary is on my website zoewoodwardgardening.com/2024/08/28/autumn-jump-starter-2024/
So helpful - and beautiful blooms! Thank you! 💚
Thank you so much for taking the time to be so kind x
great
Thank you so much
First time dahlia grower here. Excellent explanation of pinching out. Thank you. Do you have a video of how to stake them please. I live in windy North Northumberland. Thank you again 😀
Yes I have, if you go to my website all the videos are together which makes it so much easier, I will add a link, it's all free no charge xxx zoewoodwardgardening.com/2023/03/31/dahlia-grow-a-long/
@@zoewoodwardgardening Thank you very much Zoe, excellent explanation and instruction. Off I go to plan where they are to go and sort out my canes. New to me garden first spring / summer. I’m going to be busy! 😀
What kind of soil did you use?
Just garden soil which we improve with homemade compost and sometime well rotted farmyard manure, but not very often. See soil science on my website for more information zoewoodwardgardening.com/
I didn't realize the cone shaped was the spent buds. I thought it was something wrong with them. Thank you for this straight forward and helpful video!
You'll spot them a mile off now xxx
Beautiful
Thank you so much
I have to replant my tubers. I did not pay attention. Thank you.
Glad to help
