I feel like I'm in the exact same boat as you. January was my first low-buy month and I definitely slipped up but I've spent SOOO much less. It's all about the journey, I'm totally rooting for you! (Also January is always the worst month for these things, I know we'll both get better!)

Fab video, I also started no buy in January and finding it quite daunting. I had a little blip buying a knitted vest I didn't need but loved ❤ I am stopping my scrolling time with knitting or games on my phone instead of shops.

Setting boundaries on things like food delivery has been really successful. You're basically pitting your own laziness against your desire for a sweet treat! But there's still opportunity to treat yourself on occasion if you get the gumption for it!

She works at UofM in the engineering department and is actually in a position where she can hire people sooooo not to be crazy or anything buuuuttt maybe yall could link up and you could consider a university job! They pay damn well and the benefits are unmatched honestly. Use all that UofM money to your advantage! 😂

I'm also a crocheter learning to knit! I learned to crochet by doing the legendary single crochet blanket (and yes it is done AND I can lay under it comfortably) so I'm doing hopefully the less insane stockinette scarf. It is... going... kind of... My purl tension is fine but my knit is suuuuper tight, but I was also a really tight crocheter at first so hopefully I can figure that out.

I'm very much looking forward to that chunky blanket @ 1:31 - I'm sure our kitty Toothless would also appreciate it when she cozies up on our laps! 🤗

I love it! I am still deciding on my rules but I think tracking all purchases will be important. I've been feeling so overwhelmed with the amount of stuff I have I'm ready to have slightly less. I have worked really hard about being more conscious about what I buy and I have really improved but I still have way too much credit card debt and other fun stuff to get in control lol. Hi, your video randomly showed up on my recommendations and I am so glad that it did. I am a student and for the last couple of months, I have been going over budget, needing to request more money from my family. As you talked about your issues and your decisions (and their justifications) I felt that I was spending my money so irresponsibly to the point of overconsumption. Thank you for this video because it inspired me to spend my money more responsibly and set healthy boundaries with spending. 🥹💕

Some rules that my husband and I came up with for ourselves are both leaning towards limited and intentional buying as well as increased sustainability. So things like saving all glass jars and containers, using those to fill up at bulk food stores (SO much cheaper than the grocery store it’s actually insane like I got 3 mason jars full of oats for only $5 like huh?!?) also going to a refill store for all household and beauty products like laundry soap, hand soap, shampoo, etc. Only shopping for clothes and things for the house at thrift stores. Also actually taking a look at how much we make vs how much we have to spend monthly like WOW who knew actually breaking down income and expenses could be so eye opening 😂

I think everyone is. Next year is also my low/no buy year🎉 may we make it through January without new books and yarn LOL I actually bought a quilt crochet pattern for a large blanket, and the yarn needed for the year. Basically I told myself I don't crochet fast enough to need multiple projects, so I'm working on making one/two quilt patch a month and will have a new quilt come December!
