    Hey! Great video! This is exactly what I was looking for. I’ve recently been thinking about switching to barefoot shoes, and hearing ur experience with them was just what I needed. As someone who has never worn barefoot shoes before, do u have a recommendation for a first shoe? I’ve been looking into the vivovbarefoot shoes, but r those good for beginners? (Is there such a thing as barefoot beginners lol)

    • @michaeldunigan5839
      @michaeldunigan5839 14 днів тому

      I started 3 years ago and now have ton of vivobarefoot. Starting out with them might be a bit shocking. Lems and Xero feel a little more cushioned and might be a good starting point.

      @YourFriendJeff 14 днів тому

      @michaeldunigan5839 thank you for chiming in to help @dylandesmarais3592! I echo what Michael said here. Lems is a great place to start. Depending on the model, it still feels like you're wearing a more cushioned, substantial shoe that has the wide, foot-shaped toe box and flexibility that normal shoes lack. I've also heard decent things about Altra trail runners, but haven't tried those out.

    love barefoot shoes. the wider ones from Lems, like the primals, are the most comfortable in my experience. even more space for the toes to be unrestricted

      Yes! I need to try a pair of Primals sometime. I've loved my Lems so far, so I'm excited to try new ones in the future.

    I'm all for footwear that doesn't restrict & impair natural foot function. It's so good that you're doing that for your kids, as well. They might like what Splay shoes has, too. Several styles of cotton canvas & rubber sneakers, including kids' sizes; very barefoot-friendly, well-made, and pretty comfortably priced, too.

    I too used to overpronate and wore stability running shoes with insoles in them. I would have been doomed to orthotics for my whole life if I went to a podiatrist, but then I learned about barefoot shoes and found out that overpronation is more like a bad habit that can be changed. It literally changed my life. I wish it were easier to get others interested though, like friends and family.

    • @YourFriendJeff
      @YourFriendJeff 2 місяці тому

      Yes!! Same thing here. I’ve been able to win over a few people, buts it’s a hard sell! It really needs to come from internal motivation of one’s own personal health journey 👍 Thanks so much for watching and consider subscribing for more content!

    • @dap8362
      @dap8362 Місяць тому

      Did you simply just wear barefoot shoes, or did you have to do anything else to fix your pronation? Like mentally try to create an arch when walking or it come naturally? Thanks

    • @MichaelSheaAudio
      @MichaelSheaAudio Місяць тому

      @@dap8362 It was and still sometimes is a conscious effort. Having to keep my weight more on the outer edge of my feet rather than on the inside where it naturally is. I also changed to a midfoot strike when walking, and running is more on the forefoot. One good thing about midfoot striking is that it's a lot easier to keep your feet pointed straight and not overstride. It's not all good news though. I'm dealing with a pain in my right big toe at the moment. I can still move it and stretch it just fine, but putting weight on it when walking hurts quite a bit. Maybe I overused it? I don't know, just gotta go easy on it for a while. 😅 If you're an overpronator or even flat footed, check out channels like Grown And Healthy, Squat University, and Barefoot Strength. All good resources.

    Dude, I’m really trying to find the right bag and have been looking at the CAS2 for a while now. If you could only pick one bag to carry around with your kids and for yourself, which would you recommend? I currently have the original tomtoc sling but I would like better organization.

    • @YourFriendJeff
      @YourFriendJeff 3 місяці тому

      Hey! Thanks for the question. The CAS2 has by far my favorite sling. It's deceivingly spacious and has just the right amount of organization. I have tried slings from Black Ember, Pakt, Evergoods, and more, and this one has been my favorite. It expands and contracts to many of the scenarios I encounter. The CAS2 has a version 2 which solves the only qualm that I had with the Evergoods CAS2-strap management and buckle placement. I also have my eyes on the GRAYL BottleLock Hip Pack - 4.5L. It has lots of features that the CAS2 has, but allows you to carry a bottle + a stowable cup holder. It is significantly bigger and bulkier though and not sure how it would wear as a crossbody sling.

      For travel, I use my Amex cards and use the member rewards points for travel bookings. Amex Platinum gets 5x points for flights and Amex Gold gets 4x points for restaurants and groceries. Any other purchase I use the PayPal credit card which gets 2% on every purchase or 3% if you check out with PayPal when shopping online.
