Peter was an exceptional painter & an exceptional man. When I was studying art my tutor was the brilliant Mike Knowles, who knew I loved & admired Peters work & he introduced me to him. I was thrilled to meet him. Peter later told me he liked my work, loved the freshness & vitality of the paintings & drawings. I later asked Mike if he had really meant what he had said. Mike giving me that stern look only he can do , raising his voice replied. Phil if Peter has told you he likes your work then why should you doubt it ! He is honest & a man of integrity & he will not lie to you ! Peter was certainly all of that and more. When I was lucky enough to win the North Wales Open back in 1997, Peter took the time to write me a letter congratulating me on my success and also included a catalogue of an earlier exhibition he knew I had missed. Truly an outstanding painter with a massive generosity of spirit. Thank you Peter.

Thank you so much for posting this excellent glimpse into his art and life in north Wales. I last met Peter at a RCA AGM in Conwy in late 2006. He invited me to come and see him soon after the New Year but sadly this didn't happen because of his sudden death.
