Great Rock...🎸...and the..🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹Great..
Now this is groovy!
XQC?
Nice .
Thanks, this is great. I never heard of this guy before , and I'm British ! TBH I was expecting very early Marc Almond ! every day a school day...
You're welcome - Jon Mark's first band, Sweet Thursday, was my intro with his hit song "Dealer" -
💋
One of my all time favorite albums, Nothing like smoking some good weed and listening to this. Cheers!
Thanks, I appreciate your comment. I am working on Kantner's followup album, Baron von Tollbooth and the Ballad of the Chrome Nun, which has lots of good similar trippy stuff, including Jerry Garcia's guitar. If it turns out well, I'll be sure to post it.
@@bobholtzmann Sweet - looking forward to it!
I use to play these guys a long long time ago...
I WORKED FOR POLYDOR IN 72 THIS WAS ONE OF THE FINEST RECORDS WE WORKED THAT YEAR. THE LONG THEME CUT WAS RELEASED AS A SINGLE ( Long but edited). THE COMPETITION WOULD SAY THINGS ABOUT THIS GROUP TO ME LIKE “SOME RECORDS ARE TOO GOOD TO MAKE IT”. I WAS ON THE WEST COAST AND DO NOT REMEMBER THEM TOURING CLUBS A SHAME! SHIT 1972 sounds pretty good. Wish I had a remix! Thanks
Thanks for your comments - I didn't recall "Epic Forest" was released as a single, probably because I mostly listened to the unedited song on FM. I also remember the DJ more than once referring to the ending refrain, where they are softly singing something that resembles "oo ooo, Ferrari Land". I've found some lyrics online that have several variations of what the words are --- "oo ooo, Florida", "Floria", or "for our new land", which sounds closest. I guess we'll never know for sure about that.
I was only 10 at this time in 1970 and too young to keep up on music groups, but I first heard of Poco in 1975. Happy they stayed with it and got their deserved due later on in the 70's.
Thank you! Thank you so much to share this, I love it and loved it as a 13-14 year old listen to my sisters' gift lp from the first boyfriend who came from Yugoslavia. This masterpiece made me love music.
Chapeau❤❤❤
I dont see Gram PArsons on the cover-NO?
Why would GP be pictured? Gram was a Byrds member during 1968 - for 'Sweetheart..' and then founded the Flying Burrito Bros. with Chris Hillman, Pete Kleinow and Chris Etheridge the following year. Poco wasn't Gram's project. It was Richie Furay's band - after the Buffalo Springfield split.
I love this band!
Great song!
Interesting composition. Good song! I have seen Grassman.
jesus christ damn LMFAO HOOOLY
I love songs from ASCAP publisher members, such as the Robbins Music Corporation and the Leeds Music Corporation.
I would love to hear this again in Quad.
I plan to post the rest of this Quad album, which sounds just as good in stereo.
Did Poco ever play this live. I've seen Poco a few times . Never played this when I saw them. Anyone know...... if they ever played this LIVE.
@@mikeglasgow9618 They would probably need Rusty Young to play steel guitar, he added a wonderful touch to it. And the song would need violinists, a big part of the reason it didn't go on tour.
love it
Sandy Denny - Eternal Wonderful Singer !🙏
THE CAR, THE SONG AND TV GUIDE.....,.
a really sweet renaissance song.....................
Love Sandy's take on this old chestnut! The one track on 'North Star Grassman' that comes straight outta left field! The album still holds up pretty damn well, compared to what's around these days. We lost Miss Sandy way, way, way too soon. God love her.
Turn your head around
All Maestro musicians saw them the first time in 1971. And yes they are a rare bird😊
Un des meilleurs groupes années 70 d´après moi 🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️🤪😘👍👍👍👍
Seems like something special music. It sounds near bethoven, I like so much.
I'm sure the keyboardists knew some Beethoven works. In the Renaissance song "Island", John Hawken used some of Beethoven's "Pathetique" Sonata.
one of the BEST live bands, Thank- you for posting...
I saw Michele and Carol live about a half dozen times - always an entertaining show!
@@bobholtzmann Too right, the sound from just the two of them was astonishing. I'm from Australia and heard them in '79/'80 in St Louis. Pity mediocrity seems to get ahead, whereas genuine artistry and talent in their case couldn't crack it to the top.
I bought this from the bargain bin at a bookstore in Auburn, Alabama for 25 cents. I still own it, and I still listen to it fairly often. I only liked 2 of Rare Bird's albums, this one and the one with Beautiful Scarlet.
Epic Forest has some nice mellow sounds, too. But I agree, the orginal Rare Bird with the two keboardists was an astounding sound.
How about the other side?
The first four songs are there, too.
Why have I never heard of these guys? This is some funky prog rock!
Rare Bird special memories. Did not know about this album. All I got is Somebody's Watching and Epic Forest. Always liked this band. Thank you for sharing this.
As far as music goes , you will have a hard time defeating this
We were kids listening to this
The other side is pretty good too
oh yeah...u know how old that stuff is? 🤣😂
Like revisiting an old friend from a very happy time in my life.
very very good band end LP...........................................................................................................
Can you please recommend any similar albums or songs to New Yorker with that angry keyboard sound?
egg polite force
@@ralphmilano1703 yeah I love that song
A forgotten work. Well worth your attention.
Very interesting. But really far from the quality of the big bands from that period...
THANK YOU!!
I got quite a lot of progressive vinyl albums mainly from 67-75 and i bought this Rare Bird album a few years after it was released and it has always been my favorite.. by far !(rip Graham Field)
"Amazing" "Beautiful" "Great" "Wonderful" “Hermosa” “brilliant” and others "Thanks for sharing" that make my hair stand on head !!
Maybe it’s better this way. I could only hear it without You Tube
No sound so I cannot comment sorry
Sound should be working fine.
Confess I don’t have this one in the attic but preparing to listen
