What to know before going wine tasting in Willamette
Переглядів 2803 роки тому
1. Go to Portland for "night life" 2. Visit some small wineries 3. Dress however you want 4. but be prepared for unpredictable weather 5. Visit at least 2 AVAs 6. Few wineries have food menus 7. Bottle prices are probably higher than you think - few wines under $20 8. Wineries don't like large groups 9. Wineries are more spread out 10. Don't plan on biking - unless you go with tour provider 11....

Did he say Langelow Estate?
My fiance and I are going to Willamette to elope and honeymoon all at once-- me, him, an officiant and a photographer. In July. We are going to live stream the ceremony via zoom so our friends and families can be a witness. Which wineries have the most incredible views that can act as a backdrop for this occasion? The suggestions Cole made seemed up our alley. Would you guys get married there?
Hmmm. Penner Ash would be amazing for that. Youngberg Hill also - you can also stay there as it's a Bnb as well. For something really small, consider Compris.
@@blacktietours1496 thank you so much!
Which domaine winery? Looks like there are several different ones.
Cole talked about Domaine Roy. Great spot. Domaine Drouhin is also a great choice.
Some of this was very difficult to hear as you guys speak so fast and over each other. Please tell me what Sam's final recommendation was as I cannot dicifer what he said and really want to visit. Listing all five on the screen as they were mentioned would have been nice, or at least in the info section of video. Thanks.
Brian, I also couldn't make it out, but I did some googling and I and 99% sure he is talking about Cana's Feast at the end there.
@@nathanpforr Oh, that's great! Thanks so much!
Best spot on 3rd is not going to 3rd.
Cheese = Yum!
Oh heck ya! Cheese, good wine, and Tacos! I will definitely check these places out!
Awesome!
Really great Video! Nice to meet you at Juan Colorado!
Love the circus story. 🙂😏
Tom got me good. Cold-blooded. - Stefan
Love Sokol Blossers pinot noirs and dessert wines. Def have them on!
She's a great interviewee, can't wait to check out the Good Company Cheese. Lots of very interesting insights. And she's totally cool, too.
Next stop Philly, DC and Western Loudoun!!!
Let's GOOOOOoooooOOOOOO!!!!
Love the NYC pizza suggestions, will have to check them out especially Juliana's :)
Need to do top bourbon / whiskey bars to grab a drink!
You're probably right! Whiskey Wednesday is a favorite at Ruddick/Wood.
Good Company has THE BEST, hands down, cheese and meat selection in the Willamette Valley. Great work Kristin, master fromage. So happy to have your expertise here.
Cole somehow forgot that I was also Scott’s ball girl at GFU for two seasons right before he went to OSU
Forgotten 4th...
@@hosbrutality7451 truth! 😂
NYC was bad for cycling, but nothing compared to Boston!
In 100% agreement of these WV stars selection.
How often does BWI do the AVA pairing/dining experience?
I believe they were offering it something like Thursday through Sunday.
Why do you suppose we have such limited options for culinary experiences at wineries in the Willamette? What is holding other wineries back? IMHO, the culinary experiences gravitate people to become wine club members.
It seems that culinary programs really need a chef to take the lead and I guess that many wineries don't see the benefit of having a dedicated chef on staff. Bergstrom has done it in the past by hiring Recipe to prepare the food but someone still has to assemble and be the champion. I agree that it's a great hook for future club members!
Great episode!! Cannot wait to try this place.
Hahaha I'm glad you guys like the name! And I can't wait to try the Killdeer Gin!
Awesome! Great video
Love the comedy too
Thanks for the info!
Just moved here from saklem
Excellent. Lots of great food and wine options up here.
Burgers: liked The idea of comparing local fair, don’t think you should’ve included Renagaid because Of bias. Think you need a control, like a baseline so it’s more fair. Also, you should have a category for presentation/appearance. But that’s coming from someone really into rules. Names: fun names keep for specific cans like beers have specific fun names. Be careful when naming, “forged” sounds like a beer, not a sparkling rose. I’m with Wesley, stay away from hyper-masculine branding of a rose (or anything really). Latin names fit with culture. EX makes me think ex-wine like ex-wife.
Yeah, our process was pretty sloppy - like a good burger. We'll be tweaking for part 2.
It’s all good! Still a fun episode to watch and hear about. Love the perspectives (but didn’t love the talking with mouths full cause that was kinda gross)!
Hi! Who won? 😬😬
Looking forward to visiting some of these wineries Covid definitely put the brakes on our getting to know the area since moving here last winter. Recently discovered your podcasts and am enjoying learning about the Valley vicariously through you guys. Although, I did discover Winderlea and already have some bottles of that Meredith Mitchell! 😆
That's a great wine! So many good choices out here. Let us know if any of our recommendations suck or if we did ok. :)
We invite the hosts (and the public) to visit Bravuro Cellars and taste our lineup of exclusively BIG BOLD red wines.
I"d (Stefan) would also add Seufert in Dayton as an excellent stop. Their "current vintage" wines tend to be 2-4 years older than the rest of the valley. Great spot.
I love your entitlement and you having to wait for a tasting!? Outrageous. I hope you’ve had better experiences with your white privilege everywhere else! Keep doing these videos. Great commentary and feedback.
Hi Stephanie. The problem is that most wineries are doing an awesome job and this is the anomaly. Starting tastings 15-20 minutes late throws off the schedule. A little tweak to their system and it should be good to go! You're not wrong that the wine-tasting scene is a privilege but it just happens to be the world we live and work in - right or wrong.
Kramer Vineyards offers a full sparkling flight
And they have a Sparkling Club
I've heard that! In the old Erath space, right? I've gotta get over there soon...
