Easy Recipes--Potato Salad
Переглядів 1,1 тис.4 місяці тому
Easy recipes series, number 1 Potato salad is easy. Potato, egg, mayo, mustard, pickles. The trick is in letting it sit so the flavors can soak in. I prefer to use pickle juice for additional liquid rather than more mustard.
Dry Garden Update

Dry garden update. It may not look like success, but with 0 water in heavy clay this is great for the first year. Adaptive gardening for the win!

Pineapple seedlings

I found a new way to start pineapples, one which will theoretically start true new plants, not plants that think they've already done their job.
Reused Lids

I re-use the "throwaway" lids. Call me evil. I don't care. They work better than the new lids.
Hello FFF, how are the pistachio cutting thriving ? after a 4 years they should have became a small trees already
Great idea 👍
Lauren , may the lord God grant you peace , I have been watching this storm for about two weeks on a intelligence sight , the French and German weather modification aircraft have been involved since it started off the west coast of Africa, and we US have been working it since it came into the Caribbean and gulf of Mexico, this Storm in my opinion is man made and man steered , and yes we have the ability to do that , this happened for darker reasons is my personal opinion , please find peace , this is out of our hands , revaluation 18,4.5,,, aka oldhomesteder
Pinball preparedness has been taking Donati ok ns and supplies to the Newport, TN area. I donated to his site give send go I think it is. Look him up. ALL the money is going to help these poor people try to survive. Peace madfab
good on you ,,
Wetting agents aka sufactants like dawn dish soap or baby shampoo mixed with water will break the surface tension of the soil and force infiltration. When you have extra time try to amend the soil. There ya go. No need to ramble endlessly.
if u only have the quackgrass then this is the way. if it blends in the normal grass then this doesn’t work
You should be showing how to cook the potatoes. You need to cook them before the mashing stage, then usually cool them on trays or wracks. You want to cool them down as quick as possible. So they do not continue to cook. The potatoes are the Star of the show. But if you overcook them they will disintegrate. Don't mix them vigorously like you are doing. You will break the potatoes apart. Pickles don't belong in Potato salad, but I think you are using mustard pickles? Yellow Mustard is the best. Not Mustard pickles.
Nope. Real dill pickles, pickle juice if necessary for extra flavor. And I love it!
The ubiquitous potato salad. We're half a world away, but cook it the same way. :)
wow yummy
Thank you for the tip about the heating mat. I will give it a try.
To be clear- white distilled vinegar just means that it was made from distilled ethanol (alcohol) and is most likely distilled from corn but not necessarily. Unlike the other vinegars made from fermented and undistilled products it will not have flavor from the corn.
Thank you so much, this information was quite helpful
Hello... Sorry, but this will never work out. You need ucb#1 to graft male and female trees. From South of Brazil.
I have common Bermuda grass, I have been doing this for the last 6 months, especially now that I can see the quack grass in dormant Bermuda lawn! This works 100%! I cover hole with a Bermuda plug and have had great success as Bermuda is Sooooo invasive and takes over. I have added preemergent Prodiamine WDG to entire yard and u r right, this works. Add the 70/30 sand soil ratio. My lawn is looking great!!
Great realization! Good job learning so much.
You send me now in potted rooted to P.O. Box of mine.
Nice seedlings. I must have missed it how old were these baby trees at the time and did you cold stratify the seeds?
Your camera positioning is poor. I didn’t see anything.
I have been searching for information on grafting pistachios for a long time! Are you still on UA-cam three years later? I see that you had good success germinating seeds but you did not have good success grafting trees. Would you try again?
I would absolutely try again. I never had a mature tree to graft to, since all my vegetative starts died. When I moved I gave all my trees to a friend. I should ask her for an update!
@@foodforestfolderol Hi, I don’t know where you are, but I am in the San Francisco Bay Area, specifically the East Bay, Contra Costa County. I bought male and female Dave Wilson Nurseries Pistachio trees from a guy running a Tree Nursery out of his house in San Jose. My male tree has put out pollen, but my female tree has not produced flowers. I would like to try grafting. I am told that you can’t graft pistachio trunks, you have to graft buds. But do I graft female buds to a male tree, or the other way around?
Had a mature zucchini with flesh about that color, and roasted, it was absolutely delicious. I definitely need to sort through my seeds too...
Seems like you've got a lot more work than one person is practically capable of. You must be hiring....
Not at this point, although I leave open the possibility later. Most of the changes that need to be made are relatively small.
Grafting is the best way to propagate - commercially a special rootstock is used but if you can't get grow seedlings from fresh fruit late summer. Thats why gracted named varieties are so expensive.
It can be, if you have a tree to graft onto.
You need a holesaw To drill the holes, and what's wrong with buying a couple Extra fittings to do it the right way.
Hello L. Mrs. U here. Hope you are doing well!
Good morning!
I guess it turns to alcohol first. If you don’t drink the alcohol, it will then become vinegar.
It happens to most alcohol liquids.. leave it open not finish it.. it turns to vinegar.
Yep. That's right.
If you want to control it, one if 2 ways... UV light filter, or drop in some oat straw... it will kill the algie... if you are growing duck weed, fence it off in the tank and drop in tilapia.. they will keep your tank clean
The tilapia are a tropical, and the tanks aren't ready yet for food fish. Minnows worked.
There is too much light /superb nutrition and the top portio is open allowing light in the tank Algae happily growing Clean up and keep trays so that the top is completely covered
I'm working on it. The tanks themselves will be shaded, the top will remain pretty much as it is with greenhouse panels over the opening.
I'd suggest that you paint your reservoirs to stop light from getting to the nutrient solution. One of the nutrients that I use is called Rhizotonic and that's an algae based root stimulator. I don't think algae is something that you need to worry about... but it can gunk up your tubes.
The problem I've had with algae in the past is that it kills the plants. The fish cleaned up the tanks within a week or so.
Too Much Light, algae is blooming
You should use coconut husk.it’s used for reptiles but works well for plants
The fine ground stuff like coconut fiber just falls through the holes in the net cups.
Didn’t know white vinegar was ..corn vinegar..
Yep. It is.
Seems like your reservoir is getting direct sunlight. Direct sunlight promotes algae growth as far as i know. No direct sunglight = no algae
Yeah, I hadn't put up the barriers yet.
Thanks, very clear!😊
You’re welcome 😊
How r u

Oh never mind i watched to the end i think I figured out how you did it.
Thank you for the video. Is there a chance you'll show how to come up with the formula on Excel?
Hello, What color represent ¹st generation (native) for cowpeas?
I don't know. I've never worked with cowpeas. When you find out, come back and let me know!
Please provide more details
Ok, I’m sold on wood mulch now!!!
Lovely video!
Thank you!
Trees. That's what you need for drainage. Make a swale and burm (doesn't have to be much) with trees in a line and you can start directing and slowing the water. I recommend nut trees. Hazel's my favorite, personally.
I have hazels in another area, but here I desperately need a hedgerow. I haven't had much time yet to evaluate water flows--everything has been so dry that the water just soaks right in.
@@foodforestfolderol hawthorne and gooseberry make good hedges. If you're on the east coast you have like three or four native Ribes species to choose from.
@@trenomas1 I have gooseberry, but that area isn't a high priority this year beyond getting the trees in. This is my first year at the property so I'm still observing.
Thank you for your experience! I am starting my first landrace this year. Wish me luck!
I have so much fun with these! Just the variety...We get so used to everything looking and tasting the same, having crops that give you different textures and flavors is amazing!
That's my chicken/dog nightmare as well. Can't let them out or the dogs will get them. I'm going to invest in some electrified poultry fencing, I think. That way they can come out and the dogs will leave them alone. It also looks like you'd have good luck with swales around the beds in order to catch and the water. What do you think?
My neighbor locked him up, so that particular situation is on hold for now. I'm going to be doing some interior fencing (mainly to keep the velociraptors out of my garden) and that will rather limit the chickens free range area. At this point I have them free ranging dawn to dusk and they manage OK. I haven't had a chance to do the contour lines yet. I don't have access to a laser level, so it's going to be a while before I can figure out where water features need to go. Swales are in the plan, tentatively.
I'm glad I bought the jars that have the paddles in them. My arms would give out! LOL
It's rather relaxing. But yes, my arms hurt!
Should the plants do die back, you can also try keeping the scrapes "alive" as you would with fresh cut flowers in a vase of lukewarm (NOT cold) water and keeping it sunny outdoors. REPLACE the water every three days to prevent too much bacteria/fungus growth as well. If the scrapes STILL dying back, you can chop it upwards to the still green portion to keep it alive a bit longer as long as you still have viable green remaining.
Good idea. This is going to be an ongoing project at my new location, but I haven't started it yet.
@@foodforestfolderol Thanks very much, when you do hopefully it will goes well for you. :)
so how are you going to check into the airport w/ that transparent traveling bag? lol
