    George's speaking voice got much deeper as an older gent... age, bad habits or both? Nothing wrong with a deeper voice, of course, but his pop songs were written in such a way that they were meant to be sung in a higher key.

    He was just miserable and decided to take on Sony. Poor George. Hiding all that sadness from the world and ventilating his anger on Sony.

    Morally George is right, Prince was right etc. BUT... you signed a contract knowing that you were bound to a label for your entire career. That's were law comes in. Fair or NOT, he signed a contract and also waited until he was in his 30s to argue it. He should've argued 5years or less into his fame if it wasn't about money. The law was never going to side with his contract, that's what law is about. it's not about FEELINGS.

    This is 'Outrageous' to the Memory of a great man and actor. Man in a Suitcase..'Yes'! Man in a Casino. .,'Absoloutley' 'No'...not in million years would the morally 'bulletproof' McGill be the Managing Owner of a den of one the human races most 'heinous' 'shots in foot 'gambling'...'whoever' was involved in the casting of this 'well, let's just I hope they were able to sleep at night. McGill, whether it was seeing forgiveness in an armed bankrobber turned priest in an African township, to talking down a 'likley lad' determined to 'end it all' from a London bridge was the very antithesis of a 'Paragon of Virtue'. Yes he had 'fists of steel' for the 'Scum' of the World' that choose to crawl 'seen and unseen across this earth, 'Brando' and many, many more found that out to their discomfort. In fact the fight scene 'apart' in this otherwise total 'rendering' of utter garbage is the only 'chiming' shadow to Richard Bradfords true persona as.... McGill travelling 'our' World seeking 'Justice and Harmony for 'us' all!

    So many people missed the point of this lawsuit. George at this time was worth approximately what 50 million is worth in 2024. He wanted creative and promotional freedom. That's what Sony wouldn't give him. As we all know in the end although he lost the case he really won because they had to release him because nobody wants an unhappy artist who won't record for you. Sony knew that they just couldn't afford to have any of their contracts null and void. This was just another thing that George revolutionized in the industry. He was so intelligent not only as an artist but so articulate when he spoke. His personality made him even more gorgeous. What a loss to the music industry and to Humanity.

    You can’t spend it when your dead. Meaningless now isn’t it sadly. Money doesn’t equate to happiness. Just enjoy making music if your lucky enough to make a living from it!

    • @DemiLeigh-el3oe
      @DemiLeigh-el3oe 3 місяці тому

      I highly doubt it was about money. He was one of the only big, British artists of the 1980s not to leave the country for tax reasons. He also donated £10 million+ to charity and donated most of his 1990s work to charity. It seemed more about promotion and creative control.

    • @uapnewdiscoveryimages
      @uapnewdiscoveryimages 3 місяці тому

      @@DemiLeigh-el3oe He developed a strong business ethic and according to Simon Napier Bell he could be ruthless. It doesn’t make him a bad person and he chose to give away a lot of money. I think you are right, he was a very principled person. I just wish he had been happier. It’s so sad how much he declined. I don’t think he ever really got over the loss in his life and how the media chastised and humiliated him so publicly. I am an amateur musician and often think that if I could have made a living out of it I would have been happier, but I suppose once you make it to the level he did, it becomes a job like any other. He enjoyed making the music and writing, but despised having to do the sales and self promotion work. This unfortunately takes up the majority of a successful artists time and is why so many take a long break after being on the merry go round for years.

He supported many charities, he even served food in a soup kitchen before he was court ordered. If you're referring to the gay team I always new in my mind he was gay. I think to me made him more attractive. George had so much to give everyone, and he did.😜🔥💕💋

    Sadly, the courts themselves so often routinely rule in favor of corporations; It is crazy to sign a contract at 18 years old and be bound for so long into the future as an individuals changes, decides to leave a business, etc - The court made a terrible decision here but one can only imagine the pressure everyone in the business end of music was laying on given the consequence if GM had won his case; the entire industry would have thrown into chaos and all the stockholders of those large companies like SONY would stand to lose millions - and, rightfully so. The right thing was not done here, it was done to protect profit and stockholders in the corporations - of which it is may well be the judge or others involved held stock in Sony. I always love how early on so many people underestimated GM - and then, he would speak and reveal his thoughtfulness, intelligence, sense of justice, big heart, how articulate he was....Such a shame to lose such a human far too young.

    Thank you for this interview. I always wondered what causes him to sue and he always said he would be under contract his whole life. Now I understand why. Also the fact that Sony could just not release any song they wanted or release in a way that was against George’s artistic instincts which were incredible

    I remember watching this and recording this on VHS ( back in the day), back then I was sporting the designer stubble along with a massive curtain ring much to my dad's disgust! This interview was filmed just after his iconic performance at the late Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, he was absolutely fantastic. I also taped a concert he did for the Princess's Trust where he appeared on stage with K.D Lang & Mick Hucknell, presented by David Bowie, what a brilliant concert that was too. It was only many years later that I realised that he did that Freddy Mercury performance whilst his first boyfriend Anselmo was dying of Aids, to give such a powerful performance on a huge public platform in front of the whole world... it just blew me away, where he found the courage from, God knows and my respect for him just multiplied ten fold. I still find it hard to believe that he is no longer with us as not a week goes by when his songs are not played on the radio. His talent as a producer, songwriter and that heavenly voice, he was the complete package, and a beautiful man with a beautiful soul. So sad you are no longer with us but your music will remain, not just for us to enjoy but for future generations to discover you, R.I.P. George, may God Love You xx
