Do you grease the input shaft before you fit the bearing over the shaft ? Or does the input shaft never touch the bearing sleeve ?

Forgive me for a dumb question, how can i assure i've given it 1/2" of preload?

Yeah the CSC concept is kind of foreign to me as well. I've been fighting a high RPM lockout issue on my 2010 Mustang GT since I got it. I've done all the upgrades to fix the issue, yet it's still there. And now it's progressed to the point of the trans itself is now acting up (grinding going into 3rd gear). The clutch still grabs hard and I have yet to feel it slip but apparently the slave is just not pushing the fingers far enough. Never in my life have I changed a clutch that wasn't slipping but I guess that is the issue. To make matters worse, the OEM service manual (Ford OEM manual, not Haynes or anything) for my car says NOTHING about this process of to get the travel correct. Thank you for the video, this pretty much summed up and solved my issue and I'll be clutch / trans swapping shortly and I'll more than likely be getting a Mantic clutch if its available for this car.

It still seems weird to me that the throw out bearing is always pressed against the pressure plate fingers even when fully disengaged. I just replaced the clutch in my F-150 and the whole concept seemed so wrong

Why would you leave the cylinder with the bearing facing up like that and the line at the bottom? Air bubbles go up not down. That method looks like it would be great at trapping a lot of air.

How about a two piece flywheel that uncouples the outer three inches, via electro magnetism, slipper clutch concept? Creating a street/low mass "dual flywheel" effect, for usage. Where the magnetism could also aid the clutch grip.

Why does some installation warns not to push bearing prior to installation, what damage can it cause? Also can pulling vacuum from the master cylinder reservoir cause the bearing to retract and cause damage?

One question. Should you be able to rotate the clutch plates freely after installing the pressure plate? Or should everything be snug and still?

Looks like I have a customer that will need one rebuilt or replaced with new. Mantic 9000 twin disc on 2005 corvette. I was rolling into 3rd gear and the car started shaking violently once the power came on around 4500 rpm. Quite sure the clutch is gone. I'll have to look into rebuild price vs whatever the latest/greatest new clutch brand/model is.

Finaly a good video about air gap .. How many of you tried to mesure there air gap with a spring loaded.......
