Oil change on my 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport. A little haphazard, but got the job done with relative ease. Shout out to @teamoildrop

I thought you did a great job. I bought the same truck a few weeks ago, same color as well. I love the truck, I traded in my gen 3 Off Road for it. Loved my gen 3, but this new version is a nicer all around. Anyway, thanks and great video, I watched the whole thing.
I'm debating on Gaucho or hi shine 😮
Can you make a video on where the jack points are for the 2024 Tacoma?
Beautiful color. RokBlokz flaps are the ones you want. Love mine. Much better coverage. I have TRD off road and tow a boat of the same weight as your trailer. It tows great, but there is some sag. I'm looking at putting in timbrem SES to control it. Other than that and the tiny fuel tank, it's been great. Gas mileage is not impressive and the tiny tank keeps me at the pump more than I want.
Good job
I saw one video where the guy used a bucket under his drain plug on his 24 Tacoma. Seems like a good idea after seeing your unfortunate experience. But I'm glad you shared it. We've all done things like that :) Thanks for the video!
Max torque is around 1700 - 1800 rpm tow haul mode wants you to be around there
why bother just drive it in the dumpster that's where it belongs
I just bought a TRD Off Road in the same color and love it so far. I still have a 2014 Tacoma TRD Off Road with 250,000 miles on it that I bought new in 2014...I just gave it to my son. Before that I had a 1999 4Runner that I had for 15 years that had over 280,000 miles on it when I sold it. Love the Toyotas!!!
Thank you for a great towing review. I have a brand new white Tacoma sport with 1000 miles You on it. I purchased a trailer today with almost identical dry weight and tongue weight as yours. There were a couple of trailers that we liked a tick better, but I wanted to stay under the maximum weight. I also have a weight distribution and anti-sway hitch. This is the video that I’ve been waiting for. Real world no fluff. Thank you again. Great job!
Why would you change your own oil when a brand new Toyota comes with a 2 year 25,000 mile free maintenance plan?
Just purchased a new Tacoma and it came with lifetime free oil changes.
Great job! I’ll be doing the same to my ‘24 Sport soon👍
Nice job. I appreciate the honesty
Very cool….the rainbow is alright, too
Nice truck, I got the same one, and I have 1001 miles right now and I'm going to do the oil change this weekend. Also, I'd like the color, it's my favorite. Good job.
Good video. I tow with my 2020Tacoma. It does okay but that V6 requires higher RPM to maintain speed. Definitely use tow haul mode. I don’t have it on my truck and on long grades I shift manually to avoid gear hunting. Gear hunting can increase transmission temp. If you’re towing a lot, service the transmission every 50k to 60k. The dealer will probably tell you that the transmission fluid is lifetime. The lifetime of the trans will be longer if you service it. I’m probably looking at a new 2025 Tacoma. Your towing info is helpful!
I love the "less mess" sticker in frame as oil splatters everywhere. 😅
I have the Sport as well. I too have noticed the rocks flicking back. Not good at all in that department. However I noticed someone with a rubber flap extension connected to the current flare. Looked alright but Im definitely going 2 look into it more
Get yourself a Fumoto valve, trust me..
What color is your tacoma
Get a Valvo max… makes life so easy for these oil changes
Great video! Can I find you on IG?
Let us know what happens to the transmission and engine after pulling 10k miles or the truck gets around 30k miles. Don't forget to do a oil analysis. Toyota had to be sued when they started putting those transmission in other vehicles and the internal solenoids have had lots of problems. Camry used the transverse version of that transmission. Same guts, different housing. They've had lots of problems. Mine was junk.
Happy to see Toyota went back to the canister filter.
just pulled a 5200 pound camper this weekend in my 24 trd sport. averaged 12 miles per gallon. pulled it without any problems.. very happy with the truck so far.
Have you pulled it up and down steep hills? I have a camper that weighs the same.
yes. it really doesn't have any issues. I set my trailer brake gain to 5 and it does just fine.
Thanks. I've got an 02 Tundra 4.7 that I love and when we tow our camper up and down steep grades (7% along 68E out of Morgantown, WV) it can be a bit of a butt pucker!
The advantage of not opening the oil fill cap to let air in is so the doesn't come blasting out?🙂
Bought new 2022 Tacoma Off Road 6 TRD with manual trans. Pull small (all aluminum) utility style camper weighing 2200 lbs loaded. Live in Tampa but camp several times a year in the mountain areas of GA, SC, NC (600-700 miles each way). Installed rear air bags on truck at the get go which work great eliminating any "sag". Travel at 65 mph Interstate & average 18 mpg. No problems & sweet comfortable ride. Love gas & coffee at Buc-ee's.
Just a note. Always block the rear wheels despite the parking brake. Safety first. And really a couple small jacks on the side in case the ramps fail.
Nice truck 👍
Thanks! I just did my first ever DIY oil change on my 2024 TRD OR using your video. Everything went nice and easy. However, I found it extremely annoying to put the skid plates back on. I had to align the holes perfectly.
New engine break in, 700 miles, 3k, and 7k miles then regular intervals. Also, If you want to fill your oil filter, try the "Clear Flood Mode", This will spin the starter without starting the engine, allowing the oil to circulate to the filter. Hold down brake and gas pedal, push start button, Allow engine to crank for about 5 to 8 seconds (to build oil pressure) and release the gas pedal for the engine to start. Great Video!
I'm guessing you work for Mobil.
If i had this engine/chassis (thinking about the new 4runner) i would buy a formoto valve. I have never used them before but I think in this case it would save me a lot of agony and hassle.
Hey buddy is that a bakflip taunou cover and you have problems installing it
Good video for me to reference. Thanks for this!
Can anyone verify they have a steel pan in their 24? I could swear mine was plastic.
@@johnthearcher662 I saw your thread on TW earlier. Didn’t have time to respond. The oil pan is metal. There is a plastic cover/housing that can be easily removed (several bolts). The plastic around the drain plug is cut away exposing the actual metal pan.
Nice video and love your truck bro!🤩 Can I find you on IG?
How do you guys think an SR5 4x4 will do with towing? Ya’ll think it will be fine? I’m gonna do some research myself
Why do you care if oil is on the frame? It prevents rust.
You can prime oil filter by cranking the engine 2-3 times while pressing both pedals at the same time (flood mode).
Is that the dealer installed hard tonneau cover? Do you have a video or any comments about it?
Yeah for 1,600ish for hard top
@@staneubanks9489 5000 miles and my transmission just went out. Same truck trim. Very disappointed
I commented on your other towing video; however, I am not sure I would trust 0w20. Instead I would research what Toyota recommends for this engine in this other parts of the world.
Might not need to do the diffs every 15k. I also would encourage you to do some research on oil weight for the T24A-FTS. I believe Toyota tends to recommend lighter oil weights in the U.S. compared to other parts of the world due to increased efficiency/MPG numbers. However, the lighter oil weight will not offer the same protection. I have a 2013 FJ Cruiser and will never use the 0w20 that was recommended, instead I use 5w30. Perhaps the same could apply to your Tacoma's engine. However, it would need to be investigated.
Thanks for the video I got my 24 Tacoma on 1970 mil I will perform an oil change at 2000 mil tomorrows 👍
The reason why the oil was shooting out of the container is because it’s 0w20 very thin. 5w30 wouldn’t do that. Happens to me every time.
@@rickmista1213 absolutely right. Warm 10w40 out of my motorcycle doesn’t splash at all. This caught me off guard haha. Clearly.
No V6, low quality & super expensive! Forget about it
@@ridefast88 thanks for the extremely insightful comment from the peanut gallery! Why the F are you watching 4th gen content? Go away.
Im doing my oil changes in this order by milage to do a proper break in regardless of the UA-cam trollers opinions. I am in the million mile club. So here goes my intervals...500, 1000, 3000, then 3500 miles for the remainder of the trucks life. I have a sport in underground. Just about 450 miles on it. Also i would hand tighten filters on. No need to torque down. But i get it. Nice work!!
@@theleadlifereloading5742 it’s funny how offended trolls get by someone changing their oil more than recommended by the manufacturer. Really butt hurt people.
Nice taco!
I tested towing with my 2024 tacoma last week. My camper is a little bit lighter, and I had to go straight up some hills. It was a struggle going at a VERY VERY steep grade, but it did well. I have the 4x4 TRD Sport with manual transmission. I switched from a Tundra to the Tacoma because I just want a vehicle to drive around town, but tow my camper and boat occasionally (few times per year). The 24 Taco fits the bill!
BTW, I got the Blue Crush Metallic. It's the better color hahahaha
Great vid!
