Dan is just an old guy making goofy videos with a harp. He wants to bring some happiness and silliness to a world that sorely needs to laugh.

Oh, Charley , Take it Away
Things get a little hairy for Charlie, as his girlfriend is singularly not impressed with his mustache in this English Music Hall song from the 1920s. Sing-alongs were popular at the time, so join me in the refrains!

I can’t help but think that if the guy just accepted her for what she was instead of dressing her up to impress other people, she might have stayed. That said, maybe she was taking advantage to get a new wardrobe. It’s not for me to judge other peoples’ relationships. Really, I think this relationship was doomed from the start, but this song does have a funny title. Celtic Harp‚ Guitar‚ Recorde...

A BANGER
Thanks very much AudreyGraceAdventures!
THATS SO COOL
Thanks Daschund!
Very clever. I enjoyed this. Please make more content!
Thank yo Theatr3MAN! Every week, a longer video on Sundays and a short one on Wednesdays. Thanks very much for watching!
What a splendid production, Dans! I hadn't known the song - really fine!
Thank you Sarah! This is a really fun one!
Old English Music Hall was about entertainment and participation. You'd have fitted well in Dan - but that said, I'm sure your harp would fit into some neo ultra titanium metal music. Thanks as ever from 'across the pond' for the mirth and merriment and the good music with your tongue in cheek style.
Michael Stephen, thanks! Hmm, neo ultra titanium metal? Not my vibe, but I think there are some harpers doing something like that. Even the Harp Twins have dabbled in it: ua-cam.com/video/3UV-2E8kEqg/v-deo.htmlsi=JvqaJ-dD_4E8OVUr
Loved your chaplin moves! Very cute!😃😂😆
Thank you Dot! I'd thank you in mime, but you can't do that with UA-cam comments! 😄
Absolutely beautiful!
Carol, thank you!
Lovely!
Thank you Sarah!
Instrumental section was very soothing. Your choice of instruments are a powerhouse of peace. Thank you.
Thank you Dot!
This tune sounds familiar. Very interesting background about this song.
Beverly, thanks for watching!
Gobble, gobble, gobble! Have a good one, two, three etc......
Ruined it
Hi, Dan!!! 🌲🍻
Happy day to you!
I remember that show. Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too Beverly!
I like bananas
Sipsons
This surely beats the 12 days of Christmas!😂
LOL thanks very much Dot!
Lovely !
Thank you very much for watching!
Most underrated music/comedy channel ever.
SysSky, thank you. You’re the best!
Ive been obsessed with this song since I was a child! Lol! It was on a Yum Yum Kids album that I had. Great video!!!!
Mandy, thanks very much! I have also loved it since I was a kid, but had no idea what it was called until I looked it up for background on this video. It's a fun song even without the Nairobi Trio tribute -- more fun with, though. On the Ernie Kovacs show three people playing mechanical wind-up monkeys played the song, and part of the bit was the drummer monkey hitting another on the head with his drumsticks, but I always loved the monkey conducting with a banana the best Thanks again watching and taking the time to reach out.
@DanVeaner Yeah! And the banana broke off and hit the floor!😂 I also loved the Ernie Kovacs monkey version. Kind of creepy!😄
Yes! But funny.😄
love the singing blobs and their little tongues!
Susan, they are a lot of fun. You should go to the link in the description above and play with them yourself. I do fancy stuff to play the notes I want them to sing and get them to sing it, but it's also fun to just mess around with them with your mouse (or on mobile you finger). I have to pass on the warning my friend who told me about them gave me: only do this if you have a LOT of time to waste. They are kind of addicting.
@@DanVeaner nice!!! thanks for the tip.... getting over a cold, soooooo..... (have some time ). still dancing to the music! That song is also addicting. Love it!
Why not have six or seven?
I suppose I could double up. Blob Opera has four. You can have a look youself: ua-cam.com/users/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbUZ5ekF6X2tfdkFPcy0yWmJFVDJRV2diTjdrQXxBQ3Jtc0tuZWVzRUpOU2c3bEpZSVBoYkh2cHFhNVJGdjlyN2RnYUdJSmN2TzhDUFpKdHR1WFJDdzdRdW82ZkFqTU1LcTE4aERLdnNZazdsZ0NNWHZ2a0owWHFCWjBZLUxONjUtMExtam9GN0JUa1M0SVl4WVZidw&q=https%3A%2F%2Fartsandculture.google.com%2Fexperiment%2Fblob-opera%2FAAHWrq360NcGbw%3Fhl%3Den&v=JqPF63GBxcM
You and the Google blob opera are an absolute giggle. Thank you Dan!
Hi, Dan! SUPER!
Thank you ВладимирГурьев-ь1и!
This song is a favorite of mine, having learned it from the Steeleye Span version. Thanks for sharing lyrics I've never heard before! Lots of fun!
Thanks actorharper! Yes, I think these were close to the original lyrics, but who can tell with old songs?!
Highly spirited rendition, Dans! I enjoyed it!
Thanks very much for watching Sarah!
Your house must be full of music as you prepare these videos! I can’t believe you play all those instruments and sing and wear costumes. Thank you for bringing this joy to us.
Susan, thanks very much for watching! The trick is playing them all at the same time! 😀
@@DanVeaner ha ha!!
Brilliant as ever Dan. I wager that young people listening to death metal, rap and suchlike will mellow out over time and gravitate towards lyrics that spell out the human condition that we are all grounded in. In this song, a man loves a women, buys her things, treats her with kindness and yet, she walks out in the shoes he bought. Modern lyrics would likely have him grab a 12 bore and go haywire, likely as not accompanied with foul language with the man unable to compose himself and let her walk away. Sometimes the path towards winning is losing. If a man can lose a women and not lose his head he is winning. I like lyrics that reflect the kindness of humanity. The man in this song may have lost whatever it cost to buy the shoes - he may have lost her - but he retains his dignity.
Michael Stephen, thank you. Country music, especially old country music, does a great job of storytelling.
Beauty comes from within. You can't buy love as the song states. Wonderful and great morals.
Beverly, I agree. Thank you!
love the grape costume!! I can almost taste the grapes... well done Dan!
Susan, what a grape thing to say! Thank you!
I don't know which I like more, thinking you already had a grape costume ready to go, or that you bought it just for this lol
Holly, LOL! I actually did just buy it for this video, though I don't rule out using it for some future video. But whatever happens, everything happens for a raisin! 😄 🍇
???
😄
What can I say....I so appreciate your, talent musically, visually, and arrangement-wise. Super Dan!
Grape thanks Dot!
🎉 ❤ 🙏🏽 (🇨🇦)
👍🏻
Great stuff Dan, sometimes we want music to make us smile -and with we do smile, but also appreciate the work ethic you have in producing these videos. I envision you having a warehouse in the back garden with all these amazing costumes you have. Celtic harp seems to be able to blend into most types of music. Thanks as ever. Keep up the good work boss.
Many thanks Michael Stephen! No warehouse, I'm afraid. Just an over-stuffed closet.
Grapevine is better than dandelion vine
LOL, so true!
💪😁👍
👍
Is this all the same person playing four different parts photo shopped together?
Not Photoshop, but yes. Here's a video about how I make these videos: ua-cam.com/video/UBTBTG2loNY/v-deo.html
Great effects! Today is my birthday. I'm 65 years old. Wish you could sing me a birthday song.
Beverly, sure can! Have a very happy one! ua-cam.com/users/shortsb-iZ5pMNL0g
You go, Dans!! This is one of my favorites!
Thanks Donna! I'm feelin' the Halloween spirit! (or is it spirits?) 😄🎃
Excellent!!! Very well done!!!!
Thanks very much actorharper!
Magical and very beautiful!
Awesome job on each in instrument you perform on so flawlessly and I guess I too am showing my age which I am very proud of!! Please keep your music coming our way!! Neal from Boston, Ma. 🎤🎶🍁👍🌈☮️
Neal, thank you very much! Yeah, age! Me too. Can't live with it, can't live without it! 😄
This are so well done!I honestly feel mad at myself if I don't watch these!
Alex, thanks so much!
Very clever and entertaining
Thank you Caroline!
I really like how you styled it with own musucal signature!
Dot, thank you!
Awesome redition of this song.
Beverly thank you!
Bo Diddley done a version or put a few lines from this song into one of his own. 'If that diamond ring don't shine, I'm gonna get me a private eye' Another class song by Dan.
MichaelStephen, thanks very much! Carley Simon and James Taylor also did a version of it, which I liked at the time (showing my age!).
