If you know anything about the name Albert Pike, or what the man did with his life, it shocks me the State still called it that, or ever named it that. Do the research. He was truly a wicked man. I wouldn't be surprised to find a lot of people think this place is cursed, and cannot believe there aren't ghost sightings here regularly. I lived in Arkansas when that flood killed those people. It was a horrific story, and I cannot believe there was no warning. I mean, it's not like the place was never known to flood during periods of torrential rainfall, which Arkansas has rather often in the spring.

I believe that this is the oldest / the very first battle field park to preserve the grounds that these battles took place on. It was the incredible hardships and sacrifices these men made to “ stand “ for their beliefs and ultimately for each other🇺🇸

I believe the night before the battle, the Northern and Southern bands that accompanied the troops played dueling music. The tunes carried across what was to be the battlefield the next day. I believe the battle occurred on New Year’s Day and beyond. Also, The “Steel Drivers” bluegrass band wrote a song about this battle called “ The River Runs Red”.

I am from Oklahoma -- I have camped in the Ouachitas many times. You can always tell when someone from outside the area pronounces "Ouachita". Same with Tahlequah, OK.
