People would probably have no problem if you didn´t take that much space of the path. Why can´t the jump be half or even less of it´s current width. That would totally be enough for your needs, and maybe then the guy wouldn´t have yelled at you. You are probably some good riders so if a ramp has a width of 2 meters or 50 centimeters shouldn´t make a difference, but it gets less in the way and building it should also take less effort. Everyone wins. I hope that you keep on building, it sure does look like a heck of a time

Sounds like Jersey. I ran into something similar when I was your guys age. I was just going through some recycling when I was 11 in front of a dudes house cuz I saw something cool. The dude came out of his house screaming (probably day drunk adult in debt, nice neighborhood tho). He yelled at us threatened to call cops got beat red and got in our face. We were just kids man. I started crying my other friend started panicking. What the hell is that adult "man" doing getting into our face. I called my parents and they ripped that dude a new one. The point is that adult is an embarrassment. What the hell does he think he's doing yelling at you kids like that. You guys handled it a lot more mature than I did. He has absolutely 0 reason to yell at you, and he thinks he can get away with it because he's older. When I think back to my experience I feel I should have just literally yelled at him to STFU. That "adult" in your video has no right to yell at you like that, and if he does you have every right to yell at him back. Let him call the cops. He has problems not you guys.

this things are regulated by law. You cant just "claim" part of land as yours and build on it, you have to check what your local regulations say about it. Also keep in mind that if "locals" wont like it, it takes much less energy to destroy something than to build so you wont win this battle.

If that's an existing walking path, you're gonna have problems again. You need to go into the woods and build from scratch

Sorry, guys, but you're 100% in the wrong and you really shouldn't be surprised at getting pushback IRL. You're putting an obstacle across a mixed trail that already exists. People who use that trail are going to get pissed. There's nothing too much wrong with making features in the woods (although check the legality of doing so in your area), but don't do it on existing paths or trails.

ya cant build where people walk and stuff cause then they get pissed im a builder myself and tbh u would make it deep in the woods so u cant really see it from the walking trail that u built on so then old guys wont get pissed plus its better cause u can just dig wherever ya want

Here’s the problem guys.. That looks like a known walking trail already made long before you guys. Some people like to jog those at night and that could hurt them in the evening hours. Carve your own jumps in fresh woods at a hidden location. That’s how you do it right. And you will learn to use rakes and flathead shovels real well

Appreciate you guys giving back, doing trail maintenance and constructing features is a admirable act. I'm not going to point out anything that you could have done differently, because i refuse to take anything away from you. i'm just going to recommend reading the pages at the IMBA about building trails and features and erosion and sustainability. There are some things that you can be doing differently to make everything better for everybody and everything and methods of conveying the good that you are doing for hikers and dog walkers so that they look at you as folk heros and not villains

I had this problem while I was building a jump. I just decided that it would be better to just make my own trail than add to a pre-existing one. I switched to that and have had no complaints. Thats my advice.

if anything you guys were helping the main trail by putting that that jump/grade reversal in that section that apperard to be eroding anyway. That guy is so lame
