    Hello! (from Patti in Oregon - old girlfriend of your dad's from half a century ago!) At first i'd thought the device was a super heavy duty steel thermo flask you were making, then found your video that tells about it & shows demos of it. You sure have a spectacular workshop, equipped with literally great machinery. btw - that decibel meter you used in your demo video - that is cool! Could you please tell me what brand it is, thanks! Blessings to you, your dad, & family! 🙂

    I have 5 of your original thunder mugs and use them professionally several times a year. I have 2 that are starting to bulge about 5/100s of an inch. Yes, i abuse them. I'm looking to make another purchase this coming year and would like something more like the " fat boy". my order would be at least 5 and would like to know if theres a discount for any number of these. also do you do custom work along the same lines only bigger. sometimes I find myself on air fields 1000 ft away from spectators and need as big as I can get and still handle all things considered safely. I also fire electronically and need a bigger hole for the e-match.

    • @adammerritt
      @adammerritt 26 днів тому

      Have you had any issue compacting with an e-match in the powder? What brand e-match are you using? I'm thinking these would work great in some of my firework shows to add some boom with a gas mine at the same time. I wasn't sure how safe it would be to compact with the e-match, unless maybe you add it after?

    • @JimWalter-qs5cy
      @JimWalter-qs5cy 21 день тому

      I drilled the ignition hole larger so the shroud on the ematch would not need pulled back. i NEVER put the ematch in the hole and then compact the black powder. i put a round stick in the ignition hole about 1" and then compact the blackpowder. remove the round stick and the insert shroud and tape securely.

    Bought your 1 inch bore little man thundermug and it slams. First shot it was weak. Second shot i loaded about 3/4 of an inch of pyrodex FFF and packed bread almost all the way to top (pretty sure this small thundermug has a better wall thickness to bore ratio than the bigger one, i would be carful with how much you pack the other thundermugs) It lifted the dirt off the country road it was on from the shockwave..... Five stars, would totally recommend it. Stay safe guys.

    I bought one recently, can not wait to fire it off. Why do you turn down the outside diameter ? I would love to actually get a longer one than I bought. Lol I know still nots are expensive, but I would like to make a similar cannon as they used in the civil war, as a functional scale model as a lawn decoration.

    I really enjoyed the video and your enthusiasm. You should make something along the lines of a Civil War Parrot cannon or maybe an early ships cannon. The trunnions might be impossible to machine on the barrel but you might supply them with the cannon and folks could weld or have them welded on. Maybe you could drill and tap shallow holes for the trunnions and screw them on? Anyway, I do know it would be a lot more work but your prices are very fair, so perhaps it could be an option?? Good Luck - Make More Videos!

    Safety suggestion, borrowing from U.S. civil war re-enactors shooting cannons: Never pour powder directly into the muzzle. A spark could remain from a previous firing. Make a cartridge out of aluminum foil containing a measured charge. (You can make them ahead of time so loading/firing is quick and easy). To load, put the cartridge into the muzzle and tamp. Then pierce the cartridge through the fuse hole with a piece of 12-14 ga. copper wire, then insert the fuse. Continue loading wadding, etc. Fire!

      I have seen them use an old 1/8” drill bit with a wooden handle and clean out the vent hole as well as puncture the load to accept the fuse. At least in a real,cannon.

    One thing I have learned in gunsmithing is to use a flat end mill cutter when trying to cut into curved surfaces. There are some instances where a barrel has to be set into a trunion and pinned in place. Once we have set the barrel into the trunion we clamp the piece into the Vice and use the flat end mill to cut into the barrel through the pin hole. Where a pointed drill will walk the flat end mill cuts into the edge of the barrel without walking. Might order one next time I am back in the states. Shipping into the EU is way too costly not to mention cost of the customs thieves here.
