Retyred Greying Hounds, Perce and Paul, ride The John Muir Way in Scotland. A 134 mile walking and cycling route created in 2014 to celebrate the life and work of JM who was an advocate of being outside and exploring the countryside. This was Paul’s first tour and the JMW is an excellent introduction to multi day tours. We chose to take four days to ride the route to allow us to take in the sig...
Grantham Canal by gravel bike

Filmed in June 2024 and inspired by other UA-camrs showing the work of The Grantham Canal Society, Perce gets a train to Nottingham to join the canal just after crossing the River Trent. Hopefully this disused and currently disconnected canal will return to the network. CCC go to Blackmore

A short ‘from the bars’ film. It was 50% off road to Blackmore, Essex. With Jen, Gav & Perce. The trails were dry, the gravel was gravelly and the roads quiet. Spring 2022

NCN136 and beyond

Exploring the NCN 136 and Thames footpath north of the river. A long awaited meet up of friends (and colleagues). As cycling instructors you just can’t keep us off our bikes. If you decide to follow the route then a hybrid, gravel or mountain bike is fine. Just watch out for the brambles along the river path. Our stats were 31 miles, 650ft elevation gain, 3h 30m moving time. Thanks to my ride b...
RGH ride to Bury St Eds
Переглядів 904 роки тому
A Mort and Perce 2 day tour. Day 1. Shot from the handlebars. The intention was to take different angled shots but we had 70 miles to cycle on fully loaded (in my case) bikes so we concentrated on the ride. The route chosen used a few gravel sections and mostly unclassified country roads. The lanes were quiet and those drivers we did see seemed to have mostly understood to give us lots of room....
Great vid 🙌🏻 we rode from Revesby, over to Woodhall Spa along the NCN1 then the 64 to Doddington. Had lunch at Doddington Hall/Giant Store then back. Think it was around 100km in total. On the other separate ride we did was from Grantham to Newark and back. Great memories on both trips. Merry Christmas to you & a Happy New Year 🎄
And to you. Thanks for the idea of the route. Maybe we’ll get some rides in next year.
@@rghoundsyou’re welcome. Hope you enjoyed it. Definitely will 👍
Another great vlog and lovely trip 🙌🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
The Falkirk Wheel, amazing. Great 2nd Ep and what weather 👌🏻
@@geraldinecoupland4162 Thank you. Everyone we met commented on the weather. We were very lucky.
This is fabulous. Looks a great trip. The views and your first stop looked wonderful. I was going to ask was you riding an MTB to match your friends or your Ribble but looking at shadows and clips from others it looked like an MTB. Looking forward to watching Part 2 later 👍
@@geraldinecoupland4162 Hi Gez, a gravel bike would be ideal. Day 1 lends itself to a mtb if using the shared walking cycling trails but once back on tarmac the graveler would fully come into its own. Due to a problem with the shocks, I rode with the forks locked out for the whole trip. On day 4 (film still to be edited) we took the sandy coastal tracks into Dunbar and the wide tyres helped there. Staying on the alternative cycle route shown in the guide book, a touring bike would be fine but you miss out on some good views. Day 2 is 95% tarmac on the route we took. Bikepacking.com has an off-road version which might appeal.
love cycling around Lincolnshire, I was out Tattersall way on Monday, loved the castle and church..
You always need to be in the other rut. Or so it seems at the time. But never the correct one!!🤣🤔😡
@@RichardSmith-cn9mx So true, we don’t really notice when we are in the good rut!
Very informative vlog 👍 Would you ride it again? We’ve done from Grantham along the Canel / Railway line to Newark and back. We also rode from Revesby to Woodhall Spa to Doddington and back along the River Witham through Lincoln totalled approx 62/63 miles. You could make it shorter and go from Woodhall. That’s a nice ride too 👍
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I’d do it again although I would think about cutting out a bit more of the grass section!
@@geraldinecoupland4162 You’ve got me thinking about the Grantham Newark route 🙂
