This is an original broadcast from WVVX 103.1 FM (Real Precious Metal) that was in Highland Park, Illinois with Scott Loftus broadcasting live at the show from Merrillville, Indiana that I recorded on a cassette tape at the time from over the radio. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have been for the last 35 years. Setlist: 1. Motor City Madhouse. 2. Just what the doctor ordered. 3. Free for...

The Nuge at his best. It was one damn good show!
Thanks so much for uploading this. Really enjoying it
Glad you enjoy it!
I saw Ted in 88 at Manchester Apollo. Still remember
totally hate the lead singer.
pathetic
That's just your opinion, we don't agree.
Just realized the original lineup of 7 has now evolved into 11 !! Great group of guys, and really enjoying themselves, for sure! Just an observation, having a trumpet-playing brother who used to be in a Chicago-inspired band, I can't imagine the physical strength and stamina it takes to get out there and play a brass or woodwind instrument on all those songs, many of them in upper ranges, pretty much continuously throughout the gig-- especially at Lee and Jimmy's ages! Very difficult, but they are so dedicated. I wonder if it has something to do with the realization that, at best, none of us is going to be here forever, so we need to go for it while we still can.
And only 3 original members.
Good times I remember
Springfield Illinois last June Y’all rock😢the damn place
I don't mean to criticize, and I completely understand the band wanting to stay together. Maybe it's because I saw Terry Kath 8 times, I feel very fortunate and blessed. To me, this isn't Chicago anymore but just a watered down version of the original band.
Everyone has their opinion and I respect that you don’t care for this version of the band. If you saw them perform live, the band is giving 110 percent of their talent. I realize this isn’t the original lineup but let’s just enjoy the music. I love Chicago!! It’s not 1967, though they are still going stronger every day.
@@michaelackerman3823 Thanks for your honesty and integrity in commenting. Actually, listening to them now, they sound a lot better than the Bill Champlin days.
I love this! What a great job and legendary band.
Thank you. video tip. It's okay to Zoom in for a bit like you did in the guitar solo.
Not many originals left 2 maybe?
Three. Rob, James and Lee.
This isn't Chicago, it's a cover band. I feel sorry for the people that paid way too much money to see this farce. Retire and go away.
Give it up... sad to see you trying for what used to be.
Is that what you did?
@thesaneparty4079 I wouldn't pretend I'm in a band that no longer exists, other than on recordings, but I'd keep playing.
@@keithmccabe4040 We'll never know, but I suspect you'd do what generated the highest revenue. In all these cases people are voting with their dollars and if enough people agree with you, they will stop as you suggest. For now, seems like it's a pretty packed show.
@@thesaneparty4079 The value of nostalgia. Isn't it quaint.
I get ya, Keith, but when you consider that Lamm, Pankow, and Loughnane are still at the nucleus of things, I'm kinda okay with Chicago pressing ahead! They seem to be having more fun right now than in the time frame just before Terry died (1978), where, at least to my eye, they seemed utterly exhausted and just kind of going through the motions.
Old guys still got it! Legendary!!!
I was there
Nice. I wish I was. Saw him there many times, though. Just not that day. Only via radio recording it.
He was tapping at 1:34:52
Snakeskin cowboys is very rolling stones but heavier
This is 1988 when If you cant lick em came out and little miss dangerous came out two years prior in 1986 two of his best LP'S. saw him first 1976 and last time in 2023 in Lancater PA Still rocks even at 75. Enjoy retirement Uncle Ted.
I saw Ted with Lita Ford there. Great concert. It might have been this one.
Lita Ford did open up that night.
Ted always gives 100%! This show is just mesmerizing. Just a killer.
Amazing here ❤❤😂😂❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤
Ah the If You Can't Lick Em.....Lick Em Tour!
I’m sure I saw this at Manchester Apollo Krokus supported. Am I correct????
Lita Ford opened up this night of the show.
@@gv4189 At Manchester Apollo. Krokus we’re the support
@@peterkabrna you’re correct. I was at the Hammersmith show with Krokus as support.
Amazing - I've never seen a Ted setlist quite like this. Thx for sharing!!!
Your welcome. Enjoy!
@@gv4189 Amazing gig and the recording is still awesome!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I stand corrected- it’s 1988
The date is wrong- it’s 1978
“Little miss” didn’t come out until the 80s….couldn’t have been a 70s concert.
A few songs on this setlist didnt come out in the 70s, so no it was not 78
@michaeltucci8597 - *YOU'RE wrong.* "Spread your Wings," "Little Miss Dangerous," "Painkiller," & "Need you Bad" were all released in the 1980's......Imma gonna slappa you!!!!
Saw Ted two nights in a row in the UK on this tour. Ted came to talk to the fans before and after each gig.
Man I bet that was awesome!
Certainly was. He signed my bootleg tape list, my denim jacket and a 1977 tour programme to.@@gv4189
I was there...
Didn't manowar open?
@@bobbyg433I don't remember...
@@bobbyg433Lita Ford opened.
I think MC should have asked Munroe back.. he was waaaaaayyyyyyy better than this guy at both Wayne and Howe.
We don't know the details about the Metal Church situation. We should appreciate this new singer. They sound great and the new album is killer. The inner workings of a band that's been around for this long....13 albums under their belt. You can sit back and criticize but I don't see what there is to complain about, really.Ive been a fan since the beginning and I think they have done a hell of a job bringing us so much killer music for so many years.I hope you can enjoy more and analyze less in the future and maybe someday we can meet beneath the shadow of the Metal Church cross! Peace be with you.
This is so fn good Ted baby I'm in Toronto any chick's Wanna say hi👍😛 Keep safe
This is better than the David Wayne songs. Trying to be fair, perhaps when they come out with new songs made for this mans voice it will work better.
I wish we could just enjoy this amazing new album. The singer is a bad ass, hands down. He does a great job. Damn powerful and has the perfect voice, hitting and holding those highs like some kind of entity. He needs some piled up respect. I love this album and the new singer. Big time bad ass. Peace be with you all. Metal Church forever.
I seen him there in the early 90's he came out riding a buffalo
METAL CHURCH NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER DIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS🎉🎉
Loudest concert ever!!! Was there.
My father got to see him in Terre Haute Indiana around February or so of 88. Dad said it’s the loudest concert he’s ever been to in his life. Ted Nugent opened up for kiss that night. My father said it was so loud and raunchy that you could barely understand what he was playing by the time kids come out to play there set their volume was so low. Everybody started leaving HULMAN Center. Ted Nugent was and still is a guitar beast.
A SEGUIR CON EL LEGADO QUE NOS DEJÒ EL GRAN MIKE HOWE.
Claro que si.
What a set list, thanks for posting. I've got whiplash bash 1988 VHS.
Very cool!
Who was in his band for this show?
Derek St Holmes guitars, Dave Kiswiney bass, Pat Marchino Drums. Great show.
U
Thank you for this!!! Miss the old star plaza theatre!!!!
You're welcome. Saw Uncle Ted there and many other great 80s metal/rock bands there growing up in the 80s and 90s thru when they closed. Miss that venue.
Do you have any other recordings from Ted there?
@Steve92 No just that one. I do have one of him playing at Popular Creek in 1984 I believe in Chicago, but it does not sound that good and is not recorded from over the radio if you know what I mean.
That was a great venue! I could park my rig there and enjoy a nice dinner before the show! Saw Ted there on 12/30/2000 and a few other shows as well!!! Rock on Indiana!!!
Stets a fuggin machine
What a great show - Great White Buffalo is absolutely magical here - the whole show the energy level is intense - love his guitar work
Exactly! That's why even after 35 years I still listen to it 3 times a week!
I'm surprised the tape still plays
I suppose he had a certain, ....something.
I'm sorry but he can't sing Mike Howe. I think he's perfect at David Wayne.
That is true, but it was still a great show and the whole band were very down to earth and cool at the autograph table. They didn't even charge for the meet and greet. True gentlemen.
@@gv4189 That's good to hear. Thanks for sharing.
I agree I love Metal Church but to be respectful of the bands legacy the band should've broke up after Mike's death the song seems slower and it's painful to watch
Metal Church should be ashamed of themselves this was painful to watch
Thanks for posting these Metal Church videos
