(Best viewed in the HD setting and full screen) This is the final version of the time-lapse that captures the construction work of The City of Oakland (California) Measure DD, 12th Street Reconstruction Project, photos taken between January 10, 2011 and November 21, 2012. 911 individual photos created this time-lapse. Taken from Erik's former 11th floor balcony at 1200 Lakeshore Ave., Oakland, ...
What a stunning improvement that was.
Wish there was a way to slow this down. My mind can't process images at this speed.
What a big missed opportunity that the city didn't build a protected bike lane here. Millions of dollars spent on building a wide, dangerous road with *six* lanes for cars and just a narrow bike lane next to speeding traffic. Sad.
I helped build this project!!!!!!!!! Carpenters Local 713
Torre Samonek Awesome Torre!
Being unfamiliar with the project, what was the reason for the reconstruction?
Jackie Phillips The roadway was built in the mid 1950s, it was over ten lanes wide in a very short area; the roadway and infrastructure was in poor condition and the tidal water that came in and out of Lake Merritt went in an underground concrete culvert. So it was best to open up the water to the fresh air, and create a park and fewer lanes of traffic. A very successful project. The community is very happy with it.
Spectacular. Great job!!!!
This is... awesome :)
No, from my former balcony on the 11th floor. I brought out the camera an tripod every day.
Great video! Did you mount a camera on the roof deck?
Now can we please catch the jerks with cans of spray paint?
