Hi, this is great. I have a question. Can I run this on virtual machines? I currently run OBS with Nginx in Ubuntu 22.04 on my PC, then I have Azuracast on a VM. So the plan is to run run Owncast with Azuracast on the first VM, then I''ll have a second VM for all the live streaming with Mixxx and either Ardour for the audio recording on the PC or with Mixxx on the second VM. Everything will then be streamed on OBS through the Multiple Output plugin. What do you think?
What a comprehensive video very informative and helpful , straight to the point , great teacher
Thank you!! Appreciate it!
Loving this video! So informative! Thank you 😁
Thanks. Feel free to reach out for anything!!
You are doing so well my friend!
Thanks!! Hope you’re doing great!! Let’s connect again!!
Great video! A tip for your privacy, however: it may be worth considering using a private tab/different browser profile (or different browser altogether), so you don't have to blur any sensitive data or accidentally share something you don't intend on sharing. Same for your (Windows) desktop session: maybe create a separate user specifically for recording/streaming. Might save you some hassle in the future. Otherwise: good stuff, I'm looking forward to the Ghost tutorial 😄
Thanks , that’s great feedback and advice, I’ll be using incognito or a different browser. Cheers!
all this can be virtualized on this much hardware???
Yes. it currently is. if you would like to know more please ask away. thanks
Hello, can you configure owncast or add something so that it plays 24/7 without having a PC on?
You can run Owncast on a VPS in the cloud, or on a SBC like i have done in this video.
another option is to use Daterhei on a raspberry pi and another instance in the cloud like i have.
@@mediatechtube Sure, this is very cool, the point is to stream 24/7 without using a computer, which is all hosted in the cloud like vod.
@@fsan2val The idea of this video is to run it on low cost low powered systems. A VPS would cost more in the long run. There are several ways to do this but if you want all the features of OBS, that's going to probably be a costly VPS. Also you would need to send your webcam video over SRT so u end up running devices on premise for that
@@fsan2valI’ll make a video on streaming VODs in the cloud
Very interesting. I will have to give this one a go.
22:40 CTRL-A to get to the beginning of a line. I'm sure it's CTRL-E to get to the end.
This is a very cool open-source solution. The Jetson runs with the lowest latency of any product I've seen reviewed. I've been looking at encoders like the Zowie Box and the LinkPi Enc1-V3 products but I think their latency is higher than the Jetson. I wouldn't mind having a couple of cameras up the front of the room transmitting wirelessly back to my livestream rig which includes OBS. I've already orderd the Enc5-V2 for testing which is like a video "stage box" with 5 HDMI inputs generating a stream for each input plus another for any webcam plugged into the USB. Plus it has a HDMI output (decoder). THe main advantage of these LinkPi units is the fleet management aspect of it so its easy to manage all the units on your network.
Hey @Terence i think we connect on Facebook too :) very true. but now better than the Jetson Nano you can use the Orange pi 5 plus.
@@mediatechtube wow is that actually better? I'm a huge fan of the RK3588 but i haven't gotten one yet. was gonna use them for digitial signage but I just found out my sigange CMS (Xibo) doesn't support arm-based players. Testing a ZimaBoard for that. I wonder how the zimaboard would go with gstreamer...
@@mediatechtube yeah I picked your accent for Aussie. I live near Murwillumbah.
I have both Zowiebox HDMI and LinkPi ENC1-V3 with NDI HX license. They sort of complement each other. Zowiebox is extremely reliable and latency-free when you need to turn HDMI into NDI HX, or UVC into HDMI. But not UVC to NDI HX. LinkPi does the same with UVС to NDI HX and HDMI, or HDMI to NDI HX with loop out (and also SRT and a ton of other things) and can do it at the same time, but reliability is an issue. I can't yet determine what causes lags and freezes of LinkPi NDI encoder. While either device separately is practically lag-free (*depending on the mood of LinkPi), daisy-chaining them in any combination causes a noticeable lag that is much more than combined lags of either device on their own.
@@IgnatSolovey wow. that would make a very interesting comparison video (hint hint). Yeah on my initial testing, I really struggled to understand the web interface for the Link5 and to get SRT working. I did experience some of the NDI issues that you were talking about. I wonder if the V2 means a hardware revision and how your V3 compares to what I have with the Link5 V2. Obviously the Zowiebox is the way to go. I was put off by the price increase so I didn't get one. Maybe I should. I need to do more rigorous testing on the Link5. i still haven't done any real-world gigs with it.
I guess we can see why the Jetson costs so much more
well yes, but now you can get the orange pi 5 Max. better price and more value.
@@mediatechtube I ended up getting the Rock 5B to test for digital signage. I got the Emteria distro of Android installed on it and the Xibo display client. Xibo is a digital signage system with an open source CMS (docker). It works okay mostly. Xibo is a bit buggy but it's usable if you work around its problems. The Rock 5B is great. I will attempt to get ninja running on it at some point.
Nice tutorial but please show us, how an ssl-certificate for https - streaming can be added.
Sure, I will be making another video soon on doing this. However I use cloudflare
Quick question I have a raspberry pi 4 -8gig ram and was wondering if I can use owncast on it for two things a webpage host of my own for my site and a server to rtmp to my obs so i can host my own veiws? I do need help on this and could use your help & knowledge?
yeah, you can use docker or the install script for your raspberry pi, once you have that installed, you can host your pi at home and use cloudflare to connect it to a domian name - check these links - owncast.online/quickstart/installer/ , developers.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-one/connections/connect-networks/get-started/
@@mediatechtube You can use docker, but theretically you can also run owncast as a servic with systemctl. With the basic installation you showed here Owncast will quit working once you quit the ssh connection.
Hi, I have installed it successfully, but I would like to know how to publish it to UDP protocol using ETH0.
oh let me look into this and get back to you!
you can publish to UDP using the restreamer option output. Just create a new stream output for UDP.
Hello, may can you help me. im getting the Error: Package docker-ce-cli is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source I dont now how to fix this, do u know a solution ?
where are you getting this error? can you provide more info on your process?
Not Churchill it’s to San Reno. WTF?
