    Awesome boiler build Dean! I imagine you’re going to insulate that beast, you want the thermal storage of the water jacket to stratify, hot water at top, warm water low. If I understood correctly you have the supply coming off the bottom and return to top, I would modify that so supply is leaving wood boiler from the top and returning to bottom, as a hydronics professional my only other advice would be to keep your water jacket above 57-60C(135-140F) to prevent flue gas condensation/creosote, at 31C its too cold, gonna wreck all that hard work prematurely. I would use a Taco VT2218 or similar on the boiler side, which can accommodate for boiler protection and keep return water above that 57C. Can always add a 3 way mixing or thermostatic mixing valve to adjust infloor temp lower and keep your DHW supply at 60-80C. Cheers from Alberta.

    Boiler looks well build but I feel like your going to be married to it 24/7 once the slab comes up to temp you want you your boiler to be north of 165*f so it doesn’t sweat and cause it to rust in your case with 3/8” steel it’ll take a long while to rot out but I feel like you need to add a aquastat and a electronic dampener that open and closes as water temp raises and falls or it will boil over and as for your pex lines in the ground they’ll work but when you get ground water around them your heating it and your temps will be very very low there’s a saying in the boiler industry but the expensive stuff now you buy it later either way your gonna buy it I’m not trying to insult you in any way just tying to help

    Awesome house. I don't know if it matters to you but the black that's on the logs, if you want to clean that off for the inside walls, 1 part liquid pool shock, 2 parts water, and a few ounces of dish washing soap. You can sponge it on or use a bug sprayer, then just leave it sit for 15 minutes and wipe or hose them off with just water. Test on a small area first to make sure it's the look you want.

    Beautiful work. It is more accurate to call your 3x8 beam a ridge beam, not a header beam. A ridge beam is a type of header but one that is placed at the ridge of a roof. Similar to a rim joist is also a header (for the floor joists) but is named a rim joist as it is located at the rim of the floor. I wish you much continued success on your masterpiece of a home. Stay blessed & safe.

      Hi MHP ,i thought that i had answered but my remote location didnt send !?!?Which i will be remediating(new provider) The type of log building we are using is a derivative from a you tube site called Meadowlark log homes ,which is a simple way of constructing a log home ,i try to maintain a 8"to 12" contact zone ,between the logs ,that and with gasket material and heco screw s to anchor between rows , gives us a solid foundation .ty for your question and feel free to ask or request ! @@adadventuresontimbermounta6764 Thanks, A&D. I thought I would find, in addition to gasket material, that builders would create dados lengthwise in each log to insert, say, 1½" cedar strips to act as a wind/bug block, but I haven't yet seen such a construction. Safe building!

    • @adadventuresontimbermounta6764
      @adadventuresontimbermounta6764 Рік тому

      the gasket material we are using is a hanoband product from Germany sold here in Canada the 1/16 strip applied will increase in size to 5/8 creating a barrier which is sufficient that and a construction adhesive will do a great job of keeping out critters .The cedar strips are no a bad idea ,but if not thick enough at some point might not create the barrier needed! Just my thought here ! Have you started your project ?

    Came over from your comment on middlefield custom sawmill. This is a crazy project for two people! I have so many questions…. Are you planning to cut windows later? How will you run wiring? What kind of lighting will you be putting in? What happens if you need to replace a log in an inner wall once the whole house is built? What does it smell like now? Are you going to use the same type of wood for the flooring?

    • @adadventuresontimbermounta6764
      @adadventuresontimbermounta6764 Рік тому

      Sorry for the late response as Anne and I have been working tirelessly to try and move in by late August. We have made 87 videos so far on the process. I will try and answer all your questions. The windows and doors have been all rough cut and the tops have been increased to leave the standard 2" settling. We will be using all led lighting for electrical billing reasons! As we are building we are making sure to protect from any moisture to touch the logs but the infloor heating system with exterior boiler(wood),will help keep the logs dry. We will probably be using epoxy as decoration option on the cement floors Hope this answers all your question and feel free to ask away! Please like share and subscribe it helps us out.
