4k camera is great for podcast quality. But full screen franck face on my tv is aggressive for breakfast 😅 video seems to freez From 7:07 to 10:30. Really thank you for this topics. Small founder on my side, still in messy middle and back to consulting for corp to recover some finance. Now need to get back to network to build next adventure. Thank for the podcast and this new format.
We had some small issues and we are sorry for that, thank you for the kind words❗️
Wait, WTF does Insane Clown Posse have to do with a business start up?? 😮
I know right?
@@FossaKingAve People gotta be _way_ more careful when they use acronyms all willy-nilly like! 😂
Studios are great for the studio owner, albeit extremely stressful and causes a lot of strain on relationships. Not great for ambitious founders. Better for VPs who want a founder title but enjoy the VP work style.
Keep going! Appreciate what you guys are doing.
woohoo!
yap yap yap yap
Im sorry but yeah Get on your job I need my connection I do feel for you But
The lack ethics and fortitude today is disturbing, it takes sacrifice to succeed. Indignant entitlement is rampant...this generation is so weak and selfish.

Here are the major lessons from Sylvain's journey on the "Messy Middle" podcast from my notes, prioritized in order: Security from Skills: Sylvain's background in computer science provided him with job security and the confidence to take significant risks in the business world. Engineer-First Team Structure: His experience leading a team of 12 engineers and only 3 business professionals highlights the importance of prioritizing technical expertise in certain business contexts. Micro SaaS Niche: Sylvain's venture into micro SaaS, specializing in a niched fintech solution with high-ticket prices, underscores the potential for success in catering to specific market needs. Navigating Lawsuits: Dealing with a lawsuit involving his own employee that went to trial serves as a reminder of the legal complexities entrepreneurs may encounter and the importance of understanding legal obligations. Identity Beyond Work: Sylvain's journey reflects the danger of tying one's identity too closely to their work or business, emphasizing the need for a well-rounded sense of self. Authority vs. Self-Authority: Transitioning from running his own business to integrating into a corporate structure post-acquisition highlights the challenge of adapting from self-authority to navigating authority within a larger organization. Importance of Trusted Advisors: Sylvain's decision to sell his business was influenced by a close friend and corporate strategy advisor, emphasizing the value of having trusted advisors who can offer critical insights and guidance. Work-Life Balance: Reflections post-exit underscore the importance of work-life balance, cherishing moments with friends and family, and not postponing happiness for future business gains. Pursuing a Lifestyle Business: The narrative reinforces the idea of building a lifestyle-oriented business model aligned with personal values and daily joy, emphasizing the Pareto principle (20/80 rule) in prioritizing efforts. Continuous Personal Growth: Sylvain's interest in studying happiness and contemplating his next steps highlights the importance of continuous learning and personal development, even after achieving business success. These lessons offer valuable insights for entrepreneurs navigating the complexities of the business world, emphasizing the importance of technical expertise, strategic decision-making, and personal well-being in achieving long-term success.
Really insightful episode with Sylvain. Hats off to him for creating the mental space to "fix his own toilet" now
Loved the episode, especially the parts on decluttering, avoiding tunnel vision, and putting the team first. Really curious about cofounder dynamics and how to assess teams in the luck vs. achievement context. Any advice on recognizing the right time to pivot or let go, whether it's the team, project, or even the dream? Also, how do you self-reflect on your role? This topic deserves more attention. When do you stop trying to be the hero? Thanks for the insights!
