Imagine being on track driving around your car with a $30 million (or whatever the value is right now) piece of automotive royalty in your midst. And it's 1 of maybe 3 F1 GTRs with the original manual gearboxes still being driven and not in some museum (the long tails were were converted to sequentials manuals). There's this, #17R, the Ueno Clinic car which gets driven at Goodwood, and maybe one other that actually gets driven these days. I'd be NERVOUS driving on track that day, and clearly many of the drivers were, driving with one eyeball on the rear mirrors at all times and waving the F1 through from 300 yards ahead of it. Understandable.

Everything about the Mclaren F1 is amazing. No other road car will ever achieve dominance on both the street and race track like F1 did. The perfect car at the perfect time during the tail end of the true sports car era! Footage of these machines being driven in anger never gets old!

This footage is such a treasure for the car community. Yes he is shifting with a 3rd pedal. These were the cars that real men drove and Mr. Auberlen could've definitely been part of that generation. I would love to see the full uncut footage but how can anyone not love just 10 seconds of this. Very rare footage and such a beautiful symphony of man and machine, maybe the most complete machine ever created. Thank you for sharing this.

It's really interesting hearing mostly the tires and the wind, with only a small squeal from the whole driveline. I got a similarly strange experience from the 550br EFusion electric boat

Staggering mechanical car of the epoque which wont return.Mclaren was and still is the upmarket to the Porsche or Ferrari - 20 yrs old car still beats their top current offers. Todays MP4-12c and P1 are also ahead of their times and ahead of competition
