We need a english transcript.
You say in the video we shouldn't turn our hips/backside towards the Kamiza, yet when we put on the Yugake we are told to partially turn our back to the Kamiza. Isn't that contradicting itself?
30 years ago my sensei (student of mr. inagaki genshiro - heki ryu) said to me: In hanare both thumbs point towards the mato...

Thank you for posting this video! At 72, my knees no longer allow me to kneel. Stay healthy!
If kusune is made out of pine resine, and so is giriko, can you use giriko for the waraji?
Giriko is made from boiled pine resin, so applying it to the Tsuru can be difficult. I tried it the same way in the past, and it just ended up with powder falling on the floor, making it hard to clean.
My suggestion for beginner: thinner nakashikake - more stable in tsurumakura Advanced kyudoka use: thicker nakashikake - slips well out of tsurumakura
Thank you for providing these great videos.
Thanks! Can you name a manufacturer?
I bought it a long time ago and have forgotten the manufacturer's name. Please try looking for a two-piece set at stores that sell kimono.

I'm starting to refocus on Seiza and this is very helpful. Thank you so much for all the work and time you spend teaching everyone Kyudo.
I am very happy that you are practicing Seiza. I appreciate your efforts to learn the aspects of Kyudo beyond just shooting. I will also do my best to give back to Kyudo.
Goddamnit! The sound as the arrow left the bow is just pure beauty ❤
I’m very happy to hear that. I also love this sound very much. When you achieve a beautiful shot, the sound is also beautiful.
Miyako-sensei, thank you so much for the videos! When you drop the 1st arrow, what happens next? After assistant came and took the dropped arrow. Should I return to shooting and shoot the second arrow as usual?
Thank you for your comment. That's correct. Once the person in charge takes the first arrow, you can proceed to draw the bow with the second arrow.
I am so glad this channel exists! So many interesting, useful and priceless lessons! And so sad to know it gets so less attention,
Thank you for noticing. I will do my best to make Kyudo known to more people.
I love this so much! The attention to details and reigi-saho is so good in budo! It teaches to use this precision in life too and that actually makes you a better person. Arigato gozaimasu!
I am very pleased that you noticed because I strive to make my etiquette beautiful every day.
Great video, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, God Bless you ❤
I’m glad I could help. I hope my videos can assist those who love Kyudo, even just a little.
Impresionante.
Do you have advice for the best way to store an unstrung yumi? My longbows, for instance, need to be kept horizontal on their back (The side away from the archer), limbs supported about 10cm either side of the hand grip or, alternatively hung vertically from the upper horn nock and never left standing with their weight on the lower or upper limb. Thank you for any advice you can give me. Grymm
Do you also have knowledge of the heki ryu style of kyudo? I am practiceing that style for a year now but I'm still a bit uncertain about my tenouchi, I've been struggeling with it a bit since I use a pretty thin bow and i have larger hands. It would be great if you could make a video about the tenouchi in the heki style (and other heki videos would be amazing aswell)
As a parson who learned rudimentary kyudo because I had limited time in Japan, I appreciate your reminder of form.
I am very happy that you have not forgotten Kyudo and remain interested in it.
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, God Bless you 😊
Thank you. I will continue to do my best to spread awareness of Kyudo to as many people as possible.
I mark the nock. Haya 1 small dot - Otoya 2 small dots. This makes it easier to find the correct nock position.
I have question! Should we unintentionally achieve hanare by waiting for it to slip from our kake or should we do hanare by releasing our fingers?
It is often said to release like flicking a coin, but I haven't made a video showing the movement of the fingers inside the Kake. Thank you for the suggestion; I'll try to create a video on that.
🙏👍 Thank you so much 🙏 Take care. Stay safe 🙏 John and Kate
Thank you for your comment. It's enjoyable, like exchanging letters.
Thank you for the videos! I am new and am joining my university's kyudo club. You are very helpful!

bushakei - shooting in war with hidden arrow-head (heki ryu); reishakei - formal shooting with not hidden arrow-head...
Thank you for the additional explanation.
🙏👍
Thank you always for your comments. I'm happy to hear from you.
Very good explanation
Thank you for your comment. I'm glad to hear from you.
Thank you! Many people are familiar with the use of tree resin for string instruments (rosin). Giriko creates a blunt, slightly adhesive surface so that the middle finger (and in heki also the index finger) maintains an adhesive contact with the thumb. This reduces the force in the fingers and makes hanare easier.
Thank you for adding a detailed explanation.
Tack!
Thank you. The support funds will be used to rent a location for filming Kyudo videos. This is very helpful.
Is there anything called circling falcon shot??
Hello! I would like to try kyudo in tokyo! Any recommendations?
Hi! I have a question! At what point in our life should we consider purchasing a bamboo yumi? I like bamboo yumi because it's very beautiful, but since I have only just started for a year, all the sensei and senpai around me don't recommend me getting a bamboo one yet. If possible I'd like to learn how to take care of it and be able to use it in practices.
I do not recommend a bamboo bow at the beginning. I suggest using a fiberglass bow instead. While the beauty and the sound of a bamboo bow are very appealing, it can quickly lose its shape and become unusable due to how the Tsuru is attached and the way the bow is drawn. Also, if it breaks, it's often difficult to repair and may become completely unusable. I have broken many bamboo bows myself, so I completely understand your feelings. However, I recommend starting with a fiberglass bow rather than a bamboo one.
How interesting. I make my own arrows (bamboo, turkey feathers, and silk thread.) I never thought about using nail polish for a sealer. Nice!
That's amazing, making your own arrows is quite impressive. Since I can't make them myself, I try various ways to ensure they don't break.
dear lady, you are wonderful for posting this and thank you for translating it to English.
I use software for English translations. I'm grateful for the conveniences of modern technology.
Thank you for all the lessons you give. They're a wonderful gift for those of us that don't have a place to learn Kyudo nearby. 😊
Thank you. I'm very happy to receive comments and messages. Since Kyudo dojos are quite rare, I hope my content can be a helpful reference for those who do not have access to a dojo.
