An unfortunate situation. The police gave him every opportunity to dave his own life. They have a duty to protect the citizens. If this guy had walked into a neighborhood and opened fire and killed some children in the yard playing, or somebody sitting on their porch having coffee, what would say to THEIR families? "He had mental health issues and was strung out so his rights outweigh yours." Thats not how this works. You cant reason with somebody who is not in their right mind. The people on here claiming he was murdered, whether it is because of grief or ideology, are in denial of reality. Sometimes there is nothing you can do but stop the bad guy before he kills somebody. I am VERY critical of law enforcement when they encroach on our rights. I think the ada county sheriff department has a real problem with doing that actually, but this is not one of those times.

I absolutely LOVE this video!!! I love it when the officers get the community involved, because that’s why we’re here! I also like that you included the support staff, who are often forgotten or overlooked. We couldn’t do our jobs without them! To see all the little kids also warmed my heart! 😊 There’s a special bond between First Responders and kids! Police officers were Super Heroes to me when I was a kid! The clip with police officer and the little girl is one of my favorites, because it reminded me of my Daddy, who was a deputy sheriff and my biggest hero. He was also a hero to our community. He made such a positive difference in so many lives, and he is greatly missed. The conclusion honoring Deputy Ben Johnson, and the accompanying song made me cry, especially when I learned the “backstory “. I appreciate that you honored him in this video. Yes, we WILL see our lost heroes again. They are forever in our hearts. Thanks to all our First Responders! God bless you and your families and keep you safe! Remember that the things you do matter to people. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Thanks for all you do. Never forget much you ARE appreciated!!!❤💙❤💙🇺🇸

Our son joins the Ada County Sheriffs. Academy starts Monday. We’re thrilled, honored and grateful! An amazing community with inspiring leaders! And pretty good dancers too! 😂😂😂❤❤❤

Jeremy was one of my closest friends. I met him when he was sober and personally witnessed how drugs very quickly caused some real struggles in his life. Jeremy knew he needed help, he was crying for help. A week prior he checked himself into drug rehab, which unfortunately didn’t work out for him. Everyone close to Jeremy, including himself, knew he needed psychiatric help. What he didn’t need is shot in the back multiple times for holding a gun TO HIS OWN HEAD. Does our law enforcement receive any type of training related to mental health at all? Why was no mental health/crisis worker called to scene? Do those positions even exist in Idaho, and if not, why?? Think of his poor family. They contacted the police asking for help for their son, but instead their cries for help resulted in his death. Those cops are a bunch of cowards who are just reaching for any excuse possible to justify a unjust killing of a good man, son, friend, etc. we all know there are many other options they had available (taser, non-lethal shot, etc) or at least warn him that him being shot/killed was even something they were considering. If no one is going to be punished for murdering my friend, can we at least introduce some type of mandating training for officers in these situations where a mental health worker would be much more effective vs. armed men trained to [prematurely] shoot to kill? Jeremy needed a fucking hug. Not shot in the back multiple times.
