Full PRS Regional Match Fossil Pointe, Strike Without Warning Chad in a match environment!!!
if you have not shot this match recently I highly suggest it. Fossil Pointe has really stepped up their course of fire and it is challenging enough to help more advanced shooters but friendly enough for newer shooters. And the new food they have there is amazing.

PRS Muzzle Brake Showdown Part 2 (Chad vs DN5 vs ACE vs Suppressor)

I wanted to make sure and clarify this shooting footage is based my my competition setup shooting 6mm Dasher with 109 Berger. I have several thousands of rounds behind the gun with the DN5 so I am sure if given more time behind these other devices they would have different controllability...such as someone with thousands of rounds behind the ACE I am sure has better muzzle control than what you...

    What’s you thought on the CHAD in a competition compared to the DN5

    • @DarthLepard
      @DarthLepard День тому

      Honestly I can’t tell a huge difference performance wise. The Chad is interesting because I don’t “feel” the concussion like blast to my face but it is there. The DN5 I feel the blast but at the end of the day I don’t feel as concussed if that makes any sense.

  • @Blanch1792

    How do you get that stable? I can't make my reticle be that still off barricades

    • @DarthLepard
      @DarthLepard 9 днів тому

      A good balanced rifle. Your balance point should be about 4 inches in front of your magwell. A good heavy sand filled bag, can’t stress that enough. If you are trying to use lightweight or bead fill you are making it much for difficult. Dry fire practice and by that I mean build a position and do not dry fire until your reticle is perfectly still. I mean still, not acceptable wobble. You will learn on how to put pressure in and take pressure out to get more stable. Good luck

    Saw you at K&M. But thank you for the video. I just went from the MDT, to the ACE, then to the DN5. Do not enjoy the DN5. Will be refreshing to get the Chad.

    • @DarthLepard
      @DarthLepard 12 днів тому

      I highly recommend shooting the Chad before just buying one. While it has considerable less blast than the TMB it is comparable to the DN5...and it is LOUD. Not saying it doesn't do what it advertised...it controls muzzle rise and has less blast than the TMB but if you are blast sensitive then please keep that in mind. As I said in the video....it is not ACE in that regard.

    How was the felt recoil of the Chad compared to the DN5? Was it similar to the tmb? I'm very impressed with the DN5 for the money, but i follow without warning closely and love what they are doing. I just don't know if i can justify an extra 300 over the DN5 for the Chad. The Chad does have an integrated tuner so i understand why it's priced higher.

    • @DarthLepard
      @DarthLepard 17 днів тому

      I shoot a dasher so it’s hard to really rate felt recoil with something so low already. I like the recoil impulse of the Chad better because it doesn’t drive down the muzzle as hard.

    It's run a suppressor or stay home as far as I'm concerned. But I've had so many concussions that shooting with a brake, or being around those who are causes me to suffer mentally. It's like I'm coming out of anesthesia after surgery the way it messes with me. Hate it.

    • @DarthLepard
      @DarthLepard 25 днів тому

      I have never used a tree in PRS but I know of some that do. It is very easy to build your process around not using the tree. • @DarthLepard
      @DarthLepard 25 днів тому

    Nice review. I would only caveat in the interest of fairness that while on the surface the Chad is twice the price of the DN5 it also includes a tuner. I know a lot of people may not use it, but if you do use a tuner with a DN5 like an ATS tuner it’ll be about the same price as a Chad, but you’ve now got 2 components instead of 1.

    • @DarthLepard

      very valid point and I plan on doing some tuner testing in the future although not sure if I want to spend the $$$ to get enough shots to make it statistically valid though. THe 6mm Dasher shoots 1/2 minute almost any combo I put through it :)

    Just went and put 100 rounds behind my new DN5 !!! And what a difference in muzzle jump, the only problem I had was a tank trap , off one of the risers. And I still seen my miss and impacts!!!! Really think this is gonna add some points at my next comp! I also reordered a trigger tech! Thank you for the heads up on this bad boy!!!

      Glad you like it. I have tested almost every brake and it’s a difference maker. You do need to handle your gun differently otherwise it will drive your reticle down too much, or it did for me because I used to try to man handle my gun to control recoil.

      I didn’t same thing trying to man handle the rifle as well!!!! How much front hand pressure do you have and are you doing anything with your trigger hand? I just got back from the JTAC class in May

      Much appreciated, took me a minute to figure out how to setup the TriggerCam but I think it is my most valuable training tool at the moment.

    Just purchased the DN5 because of your video! , I’m switching over from the fat bastard. I also just sold my trigger Cam because I thought it was hard to deal with, but now that I see at least using it for training makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the video and you have a new subscriber

      Thanks. Let me know what you think about the DN5, I have a buddy who bought one as well and can’t believe the difference it makes

      @@DarthLepardI also bought the DN5 for a tikka t3x tac A 1 (6.5 creedmoor) all factory components and I didn’t see much difference in muzzle rise, maybe it’s just the shooter I’m interested to hear what others think or experienced?

    Why hit and impact calls?

    • @DarthLepard
      @DarthLepard 2 місяці тому

      Not sure of the question but in PRS you have spotters that call impacts for the person keeping score on the I-pad, it’s not really for the shooter because you can see it in the scope.

      It is surprising hard to call accurate wind at K&M. It is lanes cut in the middle of trees, its not as easy as sticking your Kestrel in the air, that is for sure
