    Thanks for the nice sharing! I appreciate it! I noticed in the background section you put "product specialist" and "product manager", but as I´ve seen other videos I understand that you were an onboarding specialist. The question is, have you changed the role name for the portfolio? I´m asking because I´m looking for product manager roles right now with no previous experience in the role entirely, I was Head of customer support, but truly that was my product, I did many product-related jobs, ex. Launched customer support-related features like feedback form etc. However, when HR sees the title in my resume they make assumptions that I don´t have any experience in this. Moreover, I had 2 year career gap to learn a language of my new country, during this I worked as a freelancer and launched my app, so they saw the gap and didn´t call me back. Now I am considering putting in the resume instead of "career transition" for the freelancer and product owner role.

    • @tinalouisechen
      @tinalouisechen 28 днів тому

      Totally aligned on updating the role name to fully represent what you do in your jobs. Sometimes the role name in the company are not aligned with industry standard, so role name that was given does not truly make sense. What’s more important is the work and experience that you had and the value that you can bring to your new team! Some what you mentioned above, it seems like u have a lot of transferable skill! :)

    Thank you Tina! I have been on a journey to land a full time tech job since last year and have been fortunate to land a part time Jon dealing with PCs at a local community College. I recently got Pinterest Intern notification to apply and wide up missing the deadline. Nevertheless none of the apprenticeship were customer success but read through all they had and found the confidence to look closer into Product Manager. Realized my experience in over 15yrs in customer service (remote and call center) in product knowledge, being a coordinator for a non profit start up and then 9 months part PC tech makes me more than qualified to apply into a product manager role with no degree or exact experience in the role. But my skills from experience says otherwise. I hope you can respond with so motivation that thi is true and I can do this ?? Thank you Tina! @Tina Lousie Chen

    In a way, it's not that far of a leap from advertising/marketing to product manager. both involve understanding the user's pain points and what they want. listening to your story it sounds like you had lots of career experience leading up to PM and it was a natural career progression. even starting out in customer service, all of your prior roles were definitely stepping stones. good for you taking initiative.. but the title is not really accurate.

    • @tinalouisechen
      @tinalouisechen 3 місяці тому

      I agree having the customer empathy is a very important aspect of PM career. However, a lot of times, during my job hunting experience, recruiters directly asked me “were u a PM before?” And when I said I had those experience listed above, they said that means u don’t have the PM experience. I’m grateful that my current company took a chance on me! 😭 I hope ppl who were in my shoes can be inspired and take the leap as well

The high frequency of the very small space between micro-edits in this video was a bit intense/distracting for me.
