    Hey rusty , i dont want to hijack your video but heres a link to my newest setup. If you want to delete this comment , thats no problem. Just wanred to show you what im doing now. This helps to get more of the sludgy gunk out of the oil/atf. Btw, atf is awesome. I do add a very small amount of old gas to it because viscosity of diesel is 1-1.25, where atf is 6.0- 7. The jetta runs amazing on it and it keeps the fuel system cleanish ua-cam.com/video/i-1GHr24e0U/v-deo.htmlsi=5tAj2E38JIk8ZxoH

    I recently got an Acme Juicerator (I call it my juicefuge). In the past I simply used the settling method with filters like this video. Now, I use the sun to heat the oil all day, then send the atf through the JUICERFUGE to get extra gunk out before pouring in the jetta. Ive been running oil/atf for 2 years. I m experementing with it in the jetta so i can start using it in my 5.9 12 valve bus and im going to use it in a 6.0 truck when i find a decent deal on one

    Because you are looking for the viscosity of diesel, you will never get there by adding diesel to waste oil. However if you use non ethanol gas and mix that to the oil you will get a viscosity that is the same as diesel. Just need to figure out what that percentage is for your oil. I have been mixing gas with waste vegetable oil and then adding that to diesel to run in my BEW Jetta and my 6.9 idi. It’s been working fine. I also have a 91 Jetta with a 1.9 aaz engine with a two tank system. It takes awhile for it to warm up in order to switch the wvo tank so it’s not a recommended system for short trips.

      My wife has a bew golf have not run oil in it worried the common rail fuel injection would not like it as much as my old stuff my 5.9 Cummins will burn 100% oil no rug in the summer time no problem. And the Jetta 1.6 will to but little low on power and only haveing 56hp need all of it lol I usually use old gas as rug but just happened to have a can of diesel in shed when I mixed up fuel for my Jetta that day

    • @AverageJoesracingteam
      @AverageJoesracingteam 2 місяці тому

      @randymattt hey a bew is not common rail , it's pd similar to a 7.3/ 6.0. You can run oil in them but because it's more difficult getting to the injectors, you will want to make sure the oil is cleaner than an alh or older vdub engines. I have an alh jetta . I have three 250 totes full of oil but now I'm primarily running on used atf because I have a decent source of atf or atleast enough to drive daily from it. I recently got an Acme Juicerator (I call it my juiceruge). In the past I simply used the settling method with filters like this video. Now, I use the sun to heat the oil all day, then send the atf through the JUICERFUGE to get extra gunk out before pouring in the jetta

    If you have hydraulic oil i would actually only use that. It is typicly pretty clean and you don't really have to filter it, the filter in the car is enough, if you want to feel safe run it through one or two filters before using. With that motor oil you only get a ton of dirt everywhere in your fuel system.

    Mix gasoline and E85 in with it. The ethanol drags the moisture out and the gasoline portion helps to thin the oil. I'd also boil it to help evaporate the remaining moisture and it will halve the time it takes to filter. I do run this in a common rail injection engine and there's no issues.

    Enjoyed your video. I like the use of pressurized air as your pump. Concerning your filters, most likely they are paper based elements. Water destroys paper elements. It melts the paper together and that of course prevents flow. There are some elements that are not paper. Cim-Tek offers glass based filters. I de-water waste vegetable oil using hot water heater elements to heat my oil to 220 deg F and then push it through a pressure driven centrifuge. Really, I only have to heat it to about 180F as the pressure drop from 80 psi to atmosphere pressure causes the water to flash to steam and evaporate. Also on your sight tube, you may have to drain the tube to remove the water from the tube to get a quicker indication of you tank contents. Looking forward to additional videos from you.

    Not sure of a cut off date per se, but older engines would likely have the most success using crankcase oil for fuel. The emission sensors and soot filtering devises om newer vehicles don't hold up well with clean sulpher-free stuff. The 2cycle Detroit Diesels would thrive on it, they used to run on raw filtered crude. Old Caterpillar and Cummins manual natural aspirated engines could handle filtered crude also, however initial starting would probably be easier on real fuel then switching after the heads got warm.
