How will the World Soul Saga address WoW’s long running storylines?
7 tabs. +500 items like stacks of mats, gear, pets, collectables etc. gone from my whole Guild. Almost 20 years of collecting and savings. Gone 100%. Not ONE restore has happen besides a very few totally feeble attempts to some very few guilds. Blizzard is on the 3'rd month on this and is sweeping it under the rug with "sorry-blah-blah-unfortunately-blah-blah" then next day spam you with new game offerings to buy.. Well, we're not buying or playing jack s.h.i.t. of ANYTHING from Blizzard now or EVER in the future until this is properly settled! Which will never happen because some did the math: X money/effort to restore/compensate vs lose Y players. Bye Blizzard, forever.
I really hope they make them friends like jaina and thrall instead of any love interest, it’s just unnecessary. Kinda like most Hollywood movie where the guy and girl lead definitely will end up in love interest…. It’s just 😑
Yes it would be really boring if they did that. They would be falling into the worst tropes of a certain initiative that has failed so many times before. Primarily because they’re doing it backwards, you build a bad@ss character first make the audience love them, then you introduce relations with other older characters that build that character’s personality even more, perhaps even challenge them and how they think. Fleshing out the character even more. Doing it the opposite way by attaching them to another, older character, before they’re ready only causes them to be overshadowed by that older character and stagnates their potential for growth. (And I want Faerin to be a bad@ss)
This was a great chat! Love the cosmos speculation!
I wanna see your takes on Veilguard now that it is out.
Fantastic discussion of DA lore. You guys clearly know your stuff.
I dunno man..1 night only? Now that's confidence in the father.
Given it was -such- an exclusive at 5 mil gold and now unobtainable, I feel like they were almost obligated to put it at a high price point.
New to the podcast but the guy who keeps interrupting everyone and endlessly talking is really discourteous. Not least because Liz seems to be making some good points, and then gets steamrolled over, and we never get to hear her perspective on that topic.
This is great podcast. You all did great
I got excited when I saw the Brutosaur was on the shop, realized it was $90 and noped out immediately. Aaaand bought it 5 mins later. I like having it a lot, but no way was it worth $90.
blizzard claims it isn't happening anymore with the guild bank stuff but one of my tabs were cleared out yesterday.
The book is really entertaining. Jason is really the only person in games media I know of that I’d call a journalist. Everyone else just rehashes news. But some of the interviews and little details were very insightful.
Wow has never been more soloable
I had a guild with all my characters. Hours of farming during so many years. I lost everything. I said "i had" because, i stopped wow because of that. 19 years of playing for no consideration, no apologies, no compensation. I was a single player who like making gold with raw gold, craft and gathered, so i used my guildbank every single day. Like many of you, Blizzard is dead to me. I thought of use my gold for my blizzard wallet but i no longer have trust in Blizzard, so I don't want to give them money by exchanging the tokens for money from the wallet. 1 month subscription ~ €13, one token = €20, so for each token I transfer to the wallet, they earn €7 and I don't want to give them a single cent.
Best diablo that's ever been? D4 is great but it will be hard to ever beat the OG D2 experience
You know how they forgot the sword they gotta do the same with the Dark Lady, they had so much buildup to her but fumbled the bag :(
Surprise, XalAtaht is actually Elune!!
Shillcast
this guy has zero credibility and now so do you
fuck you for platforming this fucking corrupt turdgobler
you should really add imagery to the podcast. if you're going to edit in a sound visualizer, then I'd also recommend adding images during the times where you're talking about...stuff.
It's definitely designed for someone who postured the games but who doesn't remember it all.
This episode is all over the place as someone who wanted to get a grip on lore it felt too chaotic, just some feedback
It's definitely designed for someone who postured the games but who doesn't remember it all.
❤❤❤❤ Too much hate on blizzard its sad
I don't entirely blame blizzard for a technical bug. I do blame them for giving a giant middle finger to thousands upon thousands of players affected by their bug. I mean players didn't cause the issue, we didn't exploit anything or do anything wrong. Yet we're being punished by having our guilds wiped, our items and progress deleted, with apparently no chance at restoration because who keeps data logs anymore. Seriously, when did ignoring bug reports and threatening people for making tickets become the new norm for customer support at Blizzard. GMs used to be able to restore items and hacked guild banks. And I understand if they're not allowed to fix item problems anymore that people caused themselves, like accidently crafting/equipping something or getting scammed in trade chat. But Blizzard made this problem, they deleted millions of items worth probably billions of gold. And their response of ignoring everyone and dismissing the fallout is just incredibly insulting to their players, fans, and customers.
This came up in my algo. Jason has done some amazing work on leaking info from major corporations, but along the journey his journalistic integrity, credibility, & ethics are... more than questionable. Simply put, he's easy to catch lying in some of the most basic of fact-checks. I consider Jason to be closer to a pundit than a journalist. I wouldn't have any problem with him if he didn't compromise accurate, factual, honest information in order to service top-down agendas & appoint himself as gatekeeper for the bulk of my age bracket's media consumption. I can't even say I'm upset at him being a bully, it's a cutthroat industry & I respect him so aggressively getting his stories out - it's that I have better facts on my side than he does WAY TOO often for him to be a credible journalist worthy of the name. I'm a nobody, unsuccessful, barely have my life together -- and I can still do a better job than Jason can, when it's literally his job & he has all the connections, putting me at a major disadvantage. That's why he's so good at predicting things like launch delays. His only credibility is leaks, that's all he really has. Anything already available to the public, he consistently lies about. I wouldn't trust this guy to tell me what he had for breakfast, but I would for what's gonna happen with a major studio announcement tomorrow. He's a tabloid tier journalist. He's just after pictures of Spider-Man, to use a metaphor, he's not actually trying to deliver accurate news.
The Zandalari use a mid/southern African accent, very likely inspired by Wakanda from Black Panther, a good fit since their descendant societies- the Amani, Darkspear, Sandfury, etc. are all Carribean/African diaspora accents, a trend set in warcraft 2 (Amani were originally Cajun creole, an Afro-inspired accent from the American south coast, while Darkspear are Haitian, Jamaican, etc, likely due to their use of Voodoo terminology for their fantasy).
I'm glad you went into more details in the actual video.....because the title leads people to have a false notion. Because as you said, the Old Gods have never created any race. They can't create races.....or they would have done so by themselves all alone. Instead, they constantly have to go find some beings that were created by somebody else... and corrupt them to serve void. There would never have been any need for N'Zoth to do any favors for Azshara if he could create his own servants. As such, I think every single bug/spider/beetle person in Azeroth fiction was either created by the Azeroth World Soul or maybe created by members of Cosmic Team Life. And only later did some of those beings get mentally captured and corrupted to become mantid/qiraji/nerubians. I also think that the primal incarnates were dragon eggs that had originally been created by cosmic team Life, but who got corrupted by Yogg-Saron to turn into the cruel irrational villains who mass murder and then complain if anybody tells them to stop mass murdering. Hence, Iridikron. The Titans were always more heroic and beneficent; we just have to listen to propaganda by the unethical villains saying false things about the Titans over and over and over again.
Coming back to these in hindsight... oh boy, Dalaran. 💀
Coming back to watch your old content because UA-cam recommended your more recent videos and I must say, I want to thank you both for tackling Shadowlands with such maturity. I'm of the opinion that, yes, it happened and yes, we need to address it and question its placement in the lore, regardless of our personal feelings of how the expansion was executed by Blizzard.
40:13 - Look up at the Twilight/Eternal Night Skybox we see poking through the rocks down in Azjkahet. I cannot be the only one who thinks what resides right above the kingdom, and sits out of reach/hidden from Beledar, is a pocket of oozing void.
I also had a scary thought........... what if Beledar arrived back during the Black Empire and it contained 5 Holy Naaru beings inside of it; but when it crashed under the surface, maybe one of them was injured. And what if one or more Old Gods were able to find that injured naaru and then started forcefully sacrificing mortal beings around it, in creepy void ways......and that forced the injured naaru to succumb and turn into a Void naaru? Then maybe the Old God which achieved this started thinking more highly of itself, and confident. So it could have made a move to try competing with the other Old Gods that liked testing strength against one another. But unfortunately, maybe that Old God got defeated by Y'Shaarj and as part of the spoils, Y'Shaarj maybe took that void naaru crystal and bound it to the Blade; allowing his little servants and cult leaders to use the knife in further sacrificial rituals. That void naaru crystal could have been Xal'atath. So maybe Beledar has an empty slot inside where Xal'atath used to be; and one of her larger goals is to expose the other 4 naaru inside Beledar to enough old god blood and void power so that they could all be forcibly switched over to void naaru; and a combination of all 5 darkened naaru might be able to combine their efforts and create a portal for Dimensius to come through during Legion.
Somehow I think it might be more likely that Xal'atath is a Void Revenant....especially because the naming conventions are very similar. Some Void Revenants that we know were.... Xal'atoh.... and Xhul'horac.... and Nhal'athoth. So Xal'atath is probably one of them. Not an old god, not a void lord. But still with a preference for void, and enough independence to follow their own agendas sometimes. The best comparison I could think of is to imagine the Constellars from Order....less powerful than Titans, but more powerful than any titan constructs, except maybe the Titan keepers themselves. Now swap over those hierarchies into team Void. Void Revenants would be less powerful than Void Lords, and more powerful than any void minions.....except maybe Old Gods.
This podcast decided that buying fake fews and being streamed as an ad on a website I was visiting was a good idea. Maybe it was, yet it still speaks volume of the quality of this content. Thank you for annoying me.
Inarius is in hell and will be reborn as a demon
Sylvanas did nothing wrong <3
How wild is it that the first really big MMO in the genre is still getting it so right after so long? The War Within is a change of pace as well as a return to form. The repeated stories mentioned are certainly on purpose, cycles on cycles, and this expansion makes me sure of that more than ever. The leveling itself isn't important, but they absolutely want you to have a journey through all of this. It's great.
Thanks for doing this. I thought it was very interesting and look forward to watching others.
I'm glad my impressions have aligned with all of your's. Some of these side quest stories have legitimately made me cry, they are incredibly well done.
There's really no good reason why Drakthyr shouldn't have monks and shaman, lore has always been secondary to gameplay- the real reason is that the animations for monks were unfinished and the totems would have to have a unique model. That's it. : \ Every race should be able to be every class.
This man really said "Star Wars has Orks! They're called Klingons!" (Facepalm)
16:20 When you say "Khadgar was just inside of it, so everybody must be inside of it" .....that may not be true. Because if you click the "stay a while and listen" on Khadgar after you get him back, he explains that he used a spell only very powerful mages can use, that turned his entire form into pure Arcane energy...and Alleria considers that to have been a risky move. Then that pure Arcane energy form was able to escape when the intake gem got broken and that is when we see the glowing Crow form pop out and return to the form of Khadgar. While it is possible that every other normal citizen in Dalaran during the bubble got contained in the dark heart; it could just mean that they all died and got converted into shadow "except" for that very different Pure Arcane form which Khadgar used.
I was just about to comment about that.
I think it would be incredibly ironic if we learned that the Azeroth World Soul is actually just a machine.....a magical machine, but just a machine nonetheless. But that this machine never had any consciousness until the Titan Pantheon showed up and used their ordering magic to "bind" some souls from the cosmic Life realms to their titan constructs; including the Earthen and stone Vrykul and Watchers and Keepers. And that all the memories experienced by those earthen/vrykul/watchers/keepers got periodically uploaded and copied and combined together in a huge computing system within the Azeroth World Soul Machine.....to "create" an artifical intelligence worthy of being on Titan level. The only consciousness that World Soul has is the review and judgement and analysis of all those memories, all those lifetimes, all those mistakes, all those successes..... in a sort of Computational Wisdom. And after some of those constructs turned to flesh and became unable to upload memories..... perhaps that magical world soul machine figured out a way to stay in a Dream so that it could continue experiencing and adding the dreams and memories of the mortals to its own consciousness even without any discs or uploading. And so it may soon become a more active manifestation of that artificial intelligence. And essentially it may consider "us" to be its creator, in a sort of way. Not us being created by it, at all.
I hope she returns .
There are many human (round-eared) Arathi. Look around at some of the NPCs. I found 2-3 of them in the first couple of towns you come across. It's about 8-10% of them. Similarly, 8-10% are high elf-modeled.
7:35 No. Khaz Algar is "NOT" beyond any storming sea. It is in the southern part of what is known on our maps as "The Great Sea" ....all of which is east of Kalimdor and West of Eastern Kingdoms. Essentially, Khaz Algar is west of Pandaria and southeast of Tanaris. There are no magical barriers anywhere near Khaz Algar..... thus, we must conclude that Naaru spaceship technology is what teleported the Arathi expedition into Hallowfall and they were never anywhere geographically close before the teleportation.
Faerin Lothar is "NOT" a descendant of Anduin Lothar. At best, Anduin Lothar is a descendant of somebody more than 850 years ago that may have also left the eastern kingdoms to go off and be the foundation of a new empire wherever they went. At worst, the name Lothar was a common family name back then and there isn't any linear relationship between Anduin Lothar and Faerin Lothar at all, ever. Also, we still have "zero" evidence that the half-breed Arathi Empire is anywhere on our planet at all. It is entirely possible and even more simple to theorize that the half-breed Arathi Empire is from a different planet, or a different timeline, or a different dimension overlapping this Azeroth. That magical barrier separating our world from their world is not just coincidence or bad luck with meteorology.....it is a magical barrier of separation. It could even be a leftover rift from Dark Portal type magic used way back 850+ years ago to get the humans and elves to wherever they founded their separate empire. They were not able to travel by airship to get here at all, they needed to be Magically Teleported here through dimensions and time and space by the Naaru to get their expedition here in the cave of Hallowfall. Therefore, Naaru magic and technology could have brought them from ANYWHERE, or ANY TIME.
The pillars were not in Dalaran, we put them in the Tomb of Sargeras to seal it. That’s probably where Azshara stole the Tidestone from. The others were probably also stolen at this point, by her or someone else.
Joe seems completely lost on the basics of the Arathi and Khaz-Algar lore
The Tidestone WAS there, I specifically looked for it.
If it was still in Dalaran for you, that's a phasing issue. Lorewise, we put them in Dalaran as a staging area for the assault on the Tomb of Sargeras - that's where we placed them at the end of Legion, and did not take them back. See the "Pillars of Creation" quest ID 46253. The Eye of Aman'thul was left in the room with the fallen avatar I believe, and the Aegis was put in place at the top of the Tomb, in the Cathedral of Eternal Night.
I just doublechecked on another character. NONE of the pillars are there. There are matching holograms of wash of them on thier pillars and the floor has the ting for the 5th but it may be something like the holograms.
