Once you guys read SB&W, i recommend "Lanegan" by Prato. Its the closest thing to a response to the stories Mark wrote about, sheds some light and different perspectives from some of the people who were mentioned/witnessed/involved in those stories. PS: SB&W is a great read, but Mark tales it to new heights in the audiobook with the way he narrates it.

I built a set of speakers which are kind of similar. Slightly larger front slot ported cabinet with Altec 414 driver, top mounted Altec 808-8A in Altec 311-90 horns, and a Fostex T90a tweeter. I put them together for under $3K. I highly doubt that these collab speakers are of a higher quality. These type of speakers are far from being something new, in fact it's pure retro in design. Have these people heard LaScala's or any high end speakers? I am quite pro OJAS in terms of getting younger people interested in audio, but we are right at the precipice of over exposure at the moment and everyone seems be drinking the cool aid.

Mike trashed the shit out of the Doors mono ERC and I like it. Maybe the difference is listening to this stuff on uber gear that fucks up the presentation. On a pair of JBL’s, that record is excellent.

If you want the police to show up just tell them you'll take care of if. A friend of mine and myself were watching 3 teens trying to break into his neighbors house on the third call he told them we'll take care of it in less than 5 min. they were there. this is Stockton CA. One time when I was a security guard it took 3 days for them to show up for an asian gang fight. By the end of the week two of the boys were dead shot to death at a stop light.

I never heard these speakers. But I do understand the hate. You'd expect a more engineered speaker with higher end finshes for the money. I am pointing my finger at the Borreson X1. But I haven't heard these either. My point is: the competition is fierce. What sets these Klipsch speakers apart? Regardless, I am very pleased with my Closer Acoustics OGY speakers. The manufacturer also sells optional open baffle subwoofer stands for these speakers. I reckon that they would give these Klipsch speakers a run for their money. But it's hard to say, since these speakers have an entirely different design philosophy.

If you venture into vintage Altec and JBL groups, you will clearly see the lineage of Turnbull products and maybe tune down your perception of him as a “visionary”. It’s definitely not Klipsch he’s a fan of, and it’s quite funny to see Klipsch bringing an Altec style product like an admission of something. 🙂 I think Ojas merit is to be the ambassador of a certain audio culture. If people are happy to pay these prices; good for them.

All these speakers are is Altec’s which is a 50 year-old design and I guarantee they won’t sound any better. Go out and buy yourself a used pair of Altec’s slap some new veneer on them and save your money.

As a professional industrial designer and an audiophile all this exposition is just full of crap. The price is absurd for a speaker that is a glorified DIY horn speaker. Where are the measurements? OJAS is just a branding and marketing genius but no engineering here. I've heard the man many times and he is so full of it, pure 100% hipster hype fueled with japanese mysticism for westerners and vintage nostalgia blah, blah, blah.
