Similarly, little is known about the long-term post-study afterlives of Australia...

Absolutly top tier trash propaganda from these western dullards. These same ghouls championed every war western powers have pushed this century.
These academics need to get over themselves. 19 mins of blathering intros is outrageous. Nobody came for them.
Chinese people work hard to improve their lives like every other country. They have their own culture and political system owing to 5000+ years of history.
wondering how well she knows her heritage by her father's line. She keeps calling him russian, but the last name clearly indicates into Ukrainian origin and ethnicity. Would like to know more about the origin of her father.
If you think that the Chinese military is anything close to the US military you're literally fucking stupid. If this is the case meet the United States in the open ocean and see who wins lol.....yeah that's what I thought
rudd the snake. love his bs.
Could war between Europe and German fascism be avoided? The war between Western countries and the fascist government of the Chinese Communist Party is inevitable, and it will happen sooner or later. Either the democracies defeat the fascists of the CCP, or the fascists of the CCP rule the world. Spreading fascist illusions about the CCP is a crime against people all over the world!
This conversation is inaudible.
Talking about the topic of human rights, Australia government has a lot issues to deal with if not more!! Look at the situation of indigenous people in Australia, death in custody, high numbers in prison, poor health condition, unemployment, the list can go on...
The only mistake the Chinese has made is they have become strong in aspects of economy, military, technology, and even soft power. Therefore, that development of china must be put on hold. They still have the mentality that Chinese people don't deserve what they have. If Chinese people stayed in time of the life 40 years ago, with GDP of only 10% of today's, there would have no problems from American and rest of the west.
The present heads of Anglo Sakson are the racists as they don't allow others of the rest world have the same living life as they have. They are evils and nazi as they try to stop other's progression of all the rest world. They are dreaming to control the world and the people on it all the time. You heads of Anglo Sakson are ugly in mind and ill in thinking . You , Anglo Sakson ' s betrayers , are the betrayers to God as God told all of us the brothers and sisters but you Anglo Sakson's betrayers treat other people as your slaves . You , Anglo Sakson's betrayers, will to the hell!!!
I feel like Rudd's position is the new great power relationship. It is just another way to say it, maybe more palatable to Americans.
How many countries have a CP? It's a Farmer's/Labour party created to extinguish Colonialism. Corporations are worker owned & shareholders, wages coupled to productivity. CGTN Journalist's Martin Jacques, Einar Tangan, Li JingJing, Cyrus Janssen poverty alleviation completed 10 yes ago
Kevin Rudd has spoken of the latest development involving political and economical issues that the US with China. The World Order and perhaps governance had been first initiated by the westerncountries obviously has been at comfort to their ideology and ideals. The emergence of China 🇨🇳 being a big country has maturally brought changes overtime. The real leverage appears when China has grown to be stable and strong both econmically and militarily as well. Concurrently, China influence has been constantly growing with the friendly association with countries around the world closely in mutual participation in businesses and economic activities overtime. The intense challenges over influence in economy and military advancement and progress have further nurtured rivalry among the major powers.
Mr Rudd is a real politician who could talk smoothly about “92 consensus”. He didn’t wink and neither when he joked about his all in Chinese dialogue with PRC top military representative
starts at 18:08
By nature of only one comment.. indicated this podcast is worthless in terms of credibility especially .. Firstly, Kevin Rudd is just being politically correct to attain his position as president n CEO of US think tank that has been instrumental to frame China as the axis of global evil that undermine Western Collective definition of democratic capitalism..... By virtue of Kevin having the undoubtedly Fox in Sheep skin to cover his exceptional skill to articulate his double standard n total devoid of investigative research to try to insinuate n brand China is conducting Xinjiang genocide; his favourite framing China as " Wolf Warrior Diplomacy" ; absolute being ignorant the fact that China or Xi DaDa modus operandi as a defence mechanism to counter Western paranoia n insecurity with the baggage as rogue nation n supremacist White arrogance to contain China Rejuvenation not because of political ideology but racism of Yellow Peril since 400 or more years ago during Genghis Khan territorial expansion, who was not Han Chinese but considered Babarians . Even more damaging is the moderator having used the Xinjiang Genocide implication as the basis to frame the dialogue.. Please, one sincere advise from a Yellow Banana as one benefitted from the colonial legacy to enjoy the best of both Western n Asian culture n way of life.. do not render further opportunity for a half backed Yellow Banana to let u a taste of your own medicine .. .being lower class with ignorant arrogance devoid of civilized moral n ethical mind set to speak fair n just perspectives to comply with the tenets of White Christian teaching that I used to be educated by our missionary schools..
Amazing and important topic with two knowledgeable individuals, perfectly able to see the conundrum from the Chinese angle without being pitying about it! B-)
Shanghai?? Does the questioner know anything about Chinese diaspora history at all???
1949 Liberation? Liberation from what? Freedom?
A unique perspective
Is the history different if I don't want?
The Massacre of Nanjing occurred in Dec 1937-Jan 1938, not 1936. Bit of a whoopsie. A huge howler, in fact (if you want, ahem)
Liberation? Liberation from what? Liberation from an economic and social recovery and rebuilding? Liberation from the possibility of a strong, modern, and free China? Liberation from a creative and happy China? Yeah, right, that was a wonderful liberation.
The only thing that matters in China is the Chinese Communist Party. The people are irrelevant. The only thing one should concern ourselves with China is the government.
Interesting to hear his story. Like him, I was always interested in Asia, not the UK and Europe. I spent a lot of time in Japan (but not Taiwan) before going to China. I learnt both languages. An understanding of Japan is, indeed, great background to understanding China. We are of a similar age and worked in a similar time frame. I liked living in both Japan and China, although at times I found myself critical of both societies and their politics. The difference is that Richard McGregor went on to do great things while I went to seed in China trying to eke out a living, working for several "bosses". So his talk was extremely interesting to me.

How do I find Jimmy Gee Hoy & Maggie Gee Hoy's daughters? My great grandfather is Charlie Gee Hoy
So inspiring!
Japan is acceptable to SE Asian countries as trading partners, definitely not as security parterre because of the terrible of their atrocities committed in the last war
Interesting points that are being made here, though I don't know how someone can so coldly push a cat all at the table like that. :'(
this kind of self-interested talk about "long term engagement with China" always comes from people and institutions that are deeply tied financially to the Chinese Communist Party. the best course of action is to cease dealing economically with the CCP completely, because the CCP derives its power from economic stranglehold on cheap labor and property theft.
I hope Geoff Raby gets that job on the Editorial Board of The Global Times which he seems to be auditioning for here. If not, Raby's position on the board of a Chinese Mining Company should provide adequate compensation for the cost of any conflicts of interest.
Initially Geoff seems to frame China in terms like, aggressive, malign behaviours n other usual western gripes against China. Considering that UN is composed of more than 190 countries, yet its d same western countries that seems to be constantly at odds w/ China. Could it be they r d problem n not 🇨🇳. Eventually Geoff kind of admit that d Australian government might have been more tactful n have to weight it’s words more carefully. Geoff n Raby is right that Australia can not afford to slavishly follow US all d time.
The Australia has no grand strategy. It's strategy is simple - ""Follow the US"." Yasir. Nosir.
Excellent interview
Dr. Raby is probably one of the handful of sane Australians commenting on China. The current batch of Australian politicians are a bunch of nut jobs that has partaken too much of the crazy juice on offer by the US
Australia is just a small potato in the whole scheme of things
As an ASEAN citizen, Australia appears weak and and foolish in not being able to protect her own interests because she is blindly subjugating herself to the US.
This is fab - thanks for your great musical choices!
China is a huge country with huge borders. It doesn't make any sense to expand her borders especially beyond the continent .. as if there is not enough people to govern (other than the 1.3 B). ASEAN was a brain child of SE Asia to collectively not only trade but deal with big powers.
Only 258 viewers really, more Australians should be watching this video. The Canberra parliament is filled with politicians, from PM downwards, who have inadequate skills on how to deal with China and worse still not even ASEAN countries. Australia economic future is in Asia, wake up, P. Keating woke you up and now you keep dozing off.
Australia has superiority complex! Always looking down on non-white people. This refusal to accept others as their equal shows the arrogance of the Anglican descendants. In actual fact China has become stronger than Australia. Should the Chinese then look down on the Australians?
Isn’t it safer not to trade with china and don’t depend on china for investment or student... just depend and trade with US and Europe and other country...
Raby should definitely be on the ASIO watchlist. Most definitely a threat to Australian security. 'Useful Idiot' of the worst kind.
The hundred years humiliation is not some propaganda, it is real history, as per Dr John mearsheimer, this is an anarchy world, if you play soft, you will get push down. Just like Arab world, ottoman empire, China also learn the lesson from Korean war, the best way to earn respect is prove yourself in the battlefield and show strength to your opponent.
It is very pessimistic to have the artist exchange, Australia media and security agency will highly likely to portrait the activity as another infiltration attempt conducted by ccp.
