A Guide to Special Needs Trusts and ABLE Accounts
Is there a charter special needs consultant here in California?
Hmm..not sure. Check out the ABLE NRC website for a program near you. Happy saving! www.ablenrc.org/
Excellent John !! Thank you for sharing this knowledge with everyone! God bless you !!
John Finch , you’re an amazing man !! God bless you always !! Excellent work you’re doing !!
Can you please give the list of lawyers to set up a special needs trusts again. It would be most beneficial.
Hi Stacie, Unfortunately, we're unable to recommend anyone. However, feel free to skip to the end of this presentation to hear the list again. Thank you for being so understanding!
THANK you so much for this detailed presentation !
You're welcome!
Can an adult 76 years have an 1st party trust.
Can you recieve dividends on able accounts? And if so what happens to the Dividends?
Hi! To answer your question, an individual would not receive dividends on the account. The FDIC option provides interest earnings that are deposited each month into the ABLE Account. Those earnings are reinvested into the FDIC option. All the other investment options have a Net Asset Value (NAV) that changes daily, resulting in returns or losses depending on how the underlying investment product performed in the previous day's market.
26:16- Wow, those are some perfect teeth!!
This makes no sense
So you are not answering the question. What about people who can’t afford to exist? You are laughing about us not being able to save our check. How cruel. We are destitute and you are failing us.
How can you save if you need to get it out before the first
Money in the ABLE account can stay there forever. The host was talking about a specific 'housing expense' quirk: If the account owner withdrew money from her ABLE account into a regular bank account to pay rent, she needs to spend it by the end of the month.
What about ssdi?
This is too confusing
8:25 doesn’t make sense. Gifts from others count against you?
Gifts/donations directly into the ABLE account from friends, relatives, charities or even strangers do NOT count. They are neither income nor assets. I think what the middle line on that page means is that gifts given to the account owner outside of his/her account DO count as income when the account owner transfers them into the account on his/her own. The key is that the gift giver needs to send it directly into the ABLE account.
This doesn’t make sense. Any contribution is a hit.
Great program and a comprehensive explanation of the program.
Im opening a able account for my daughter. In the aplication page 16 it ask how i should invest my money. . Can someone give me some tips and leads on witch i should invest in?. Thanks in advance. Carlos
I cannot recommend Heidi Friedman. Retained her for my elderly parents with needs and my father was left in the worst position- my family was saddled with so many issues.
Do to hire Heidi Friedman Esq. I retained her for my elderly parents. She left my father destitute. Her advice did not take into account his needs, health issues or anything else. Her fee was $10,500 she barely met with my father. He has many needs- because of her work my father was battling for the last year to restore his rights. She left out him out of the process, lost documents, was unbearable to deal with, made misrepresentations with little effort in review or correcting the mistakes and allowed undue influence to take place. My family was saddled with the awesome burden of repairing the harm for what she and her staff did.

Example: The Able owner is 23 if his father deposits the same amount of $500 each month directly into Able will SSI count this as income? The Able owner works part time and still qualifies for a few hundred dollars of SSI.
An annual total of $17,000 can be contributed into the ABLE account by the person with a disability or from: Friends and Family.
Not counted. Gifts/donations directly into the ABLE account by anyone other than the account owner are neither income nor assets. Even strangers can give, which must be nice for those who are social media savvy.
Looking forward to the event! 👍 I will be bringing my son, Jason!
We can't wait! See you there!
More of these! thanx🤙🏽
Can you use this for bedding (like the pillow top or adjustable beds for bad backs )
Hi there, to see all qualified expenses visit: bit.ly/ABLEQualifiedExpenses
Chip is the best!!!!! 😊
Great interview!!!🎉
Question regarding non qualified uses of ABLE savings account funds. I read there is tax & penalty of 10%. What exactly is penalized, the funds withdrawn or just the interest that was generated from those funds?
Hi there, we'd have to know the details as why you are withdrawing. If it's for a qualified expenses then there isn't a penalty. Please call our customer service for more information: 1-888-524-2253.
Can a parent force guardianship on a 29 year old son to prevent him on going to a college just because she doesn't think he is capable due to an episode that happened years ago? He is capable of driving working and saving his money,,,,,and wants to better himself rather than be under her wings as if he was a baby....
Yup easy to qualify _ Uses : investment options).. Interesting . ( Not a right off .?)
Thank you for taking the time to do this presentation. What is the average cost of filling an annual report for Guardianship Advocate of The Person?
I have heard stories so tell me if they are correct. Parents put a part of the childs SSI or SSDI into the account,,parents put some of their tax refund into account. Grandparents and others do the same. Something happens and the disable child dies and there is lets say $85,000 in the able ACCOUNT. wERE DOES THAT MONEY GO TO, i HAVE HEARD THE STATE GETS IT . CAN YOU TELL ME WHO GETS IT pLEASE.
State gives it back to Medicaid to pay back the years of accumulated medical bills.
Third-party contributions (from parents, grandparents, etc.) go back to the contributor. I have an ABLE account and I have it in the back of my mind if I received a bad diagnosis, I would pay off my mortgage immediately. Heirs, charities can still get what I left them. Legal expenses are covered uses for ABLE withdrawals, so plan with a lawyer :)
How do i reach the account manager?
That sounds quite broadly generous!
Thank you John for creating and sharing.
Thank you John for creating and sharing. Just reposted it to this week's 529 Dash e-newsletter: www.529conference.com/newsletter/week-of-november-11-2019/
I was wondering what qualifies for medical bills
Anything that relates to the persons with a disability and helps them improve or maintain their health, independence or quality of life. For example, additional therapies, enhancements to wheelchair, potentially exercise classes or equipements
We know Steven and his mom, such a sweet family and one of the most personable children I have ever met. May he have an amazing future in all if his endeavors!
