I've got a sewing machine three weeks ago and this video helped me understand a lot of little things ! I'll try to make this pouch soon ! Thanks a lot for sharing this !
Just finished this drybag and was stunned by myself how good everything worked out since its my first real sewing project. I had to improvise a bit because I dont own this tape binder thing you used to cover the edges. Thanks for the printables and the video. Keep it up!
Glad it was useful buddy!
Love your workflow, thanks for sharing! How much did it cost to make the whole thing? By eye I think is about 20 euro just on materials, labor and other expenses total $30 euro to produce. Sea2Summit sells for half, its nylon but gets the job done. Im not critizicing but trying to make my mind around what pople is actually paying for uhmwpe fabrics.
Thanks buddy. You are about right with the cost estimate. Probably 20 Euros all in. The one i made in the video is made with 100% RPET by Challenge Sailcloth called ECOPACK-EPLX. Both the fabric and film are RPET, which is less than half the price of a UHMWPE fabric. A bag that is going to experience abrasion from grit and grim attached to a bike i'd use UHMWPE, however a bag thats going inside another bag - a light 150d nylon is totally adequate.
WHAT FABRICS DID U USE? THANKS
Its Dyneema 50g/m2
really cool of you to share this process! thanks, much appreciated!! <3
Great video ! I would like to make a 5L version, can you recommend a scaling factor for the drawings ?
80% ish. Hope that helps.
thanks from France for the explication and the quality of your work and vids ! Congratulations !
Glad you like them!
“The next thing we’re gonna do…”
ha! yhh. need to work on that eh!
Hey man ! So cool ! Thanks a lot for showing all this :) Could I ask you what is the edging attachement you have ? Looks realy great ! Cheers
Took me ages to find one that could swing in and out so i dont need to rebuild the plate every time i need to do edging. Had to drill a hole in the plate to have it located and not come out when in use. Its going to be different for each machine though. send me an email and ill see if i can locate the one i bought. (email on our website).
5:04 Hi, I think your video is really great, it conveys the technique of sewing technical textiles yourself very well. I think I know a tool that will help you in many situations. It comes from the bookbinding trade and is called a folding bone. They are available in different materials, many are made of plastic, but the really good ones are made of bovine bone, which has the advantage that the materials do not become electrostatically charged.
Great idea to really get the tape bonding close the stitching and in the seams. Thank you.
Thank you for this great video and the pdf. What did you use to stitch over those seems. I couldnt quite make out the audio in that section. I think its grosgrain? if so what kind/size? thank you
Thank you. Yes. Its Grosgrain. I believe i used RPET 22mm.
Genial 👌.
thank you
Hello! Could I know what guide you have on your machine for sewing webbing? I've never quite seen it before. What's it called?
I dont use a guide for sewing webbing, though i probably should. Which part do you mean?
@@rekkiworks It's around 6:15 when you are sewing the PP ribs!
I love watching you sew. You are so skilled and I love the things you make, as well as your elderly kitty❣️Do please make more vids!
Where can I get that sealing tape?
Head to the blog linked in the description buddy. There is a material supplier list there.
This is great. Thanks for the upload! Excited to give this a try for my set.
Just paid £1.43 with no p&p at all for a bike bag from TEMU on Feb 9th 2024. Triangular and fits through the frame.
So what? If you really think that a bag from temu has anything to do with this, you didn't get the idea at all.
@@joey-punkt The one in the video was far superior and better made.
well done
Blimey you're good at that. My bags are a lot simpler, but then so are my sewing skills! 😁
You are too kind. Most of the time simpler is better though. Keep making!
On the faster machine it didn’t look like you always back stitch to lock the thread, is there a reason why?
Some times its not needed to back tack eg. when a seam gets folded back on its self and then stitched down.
Thanks so much for this tutorial and your others. I just finished this drybag today and it's a perfect addition to my bikepacking setup. Cheers!
Glad it was helpful!
makes more sense to me to show how you use the thing first to see if i want to watch you make it
Makes total sense. Thanks for the feed back.
Just followed your steps and made the most advanced and beautiful thing I have ever sawn! Thank you so much!
Awesome. If you are on instagram would love to see your creation! we are @duffelx in instagram
another great vid ! thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
amazing!
Great tutorial!The color is beautiful!
excellent tutorial - and thanks for including free prints! hope to see more of these =)
Hi Rekki works, I made this to put medical goods inside for hiking. I love this! As your instruction is clear, I could make it without any problem. Thanks!
Interested to know what material you used for the main dry bag? I have some HyperD but it doesn’t tend hold its shape too well, this looks more rigid
The one in the video is made with 5oz dyneema. It does have that stiffer feel to it which is great for drybags as they can stay upright while stuffing them rather than flopping over.
Great stuff thank you for these tutorials and patterns!!
Need a more common type of bike frame for this to be useful for others. Triangle
Yes. I believe Custom frame bags are the better option since frames come in all shapes and sizes.
This is super helpful, do you have an adobe PDF file? I don't use illustrator & don't have a mac so the file won't open for me
Ive just uploaded the PDF file for you.
This is rad, I'm going to try to make this soon!
What is the name of the fabric you use for these bags?
Its a lightweight dyneema fabric
I stopped after the 100th “the next thing we are going to do”
haha. understandable.
Great video.... thanks. I had to laugh about the Ikea table.... we have two and a couple of other bag makers I know also have them. Bizarre.
those draws. so useful.
Hi, would you be able to make the pattern duel size? 25 + 27? Either layer's on the pdf or just one inside the other different colours? So same print out the just cut what one you want? Many thanks.
@@rekkiworks awesome top guy 👍
Just found your channel! Such a treasure, please keep making these videos :-) gonna try to sew this lovely trangia bag before my next bike trip! Great vibe and simple, beautiful bags. Thanks a lot for making the plans available for free.
Could you have made the sides as one piece, like a tube? What is the ribbon used for the edge reenforcement called?
You could. And make a split for the zip and use a different style of attachment on to the frame.
What is the clear material called
Its a light weight Dyneema fabric
Nice room
Nice design. Great job on the video
Damn good 👍 I love the edging application, looks sturdy 👍
Thanks for sharing
❤❤❤
This was super useful- thank you. Can I ask what machine you were using with the grosgrain binding foot?
Its a Juki 1510.
I just want to say that I really enjoy watching these videos.
what is this bike?
Marin Larkspur
Great video. I recently purchased a Juki 1181N and learning more day by day.
Good work! Thanks for sharing.
why do you use a round piece for the front and back panels vs rectangle? to give it more rigidity?
This was done to create more volume as the intention was to hold a water bladder.
