I wish I was a billionaire, because I would fully a completely fund luxurious pro Halo 3 league. just Halo 3 specifically. Fully guaranteed salaries and benefits for top players top 100 players (24-ish teams) as defined by lengthy and comprehensive qualifying tourneys with a full contract, reserve player, coach, free agent system. a full media and marketing arm, an entire luxury hotel purchased outright which becomes the home base of halo and all Halo tournaments, Tournament’s every single month with more massive quarterly tournaments. Ofc a world championship once a year. BIG PRIZE MONEY, I’m talking about guys making millions to be world champs etc.. anyone who has ever played pro Halo or is a top FPS gamer would instantly flock to Halo 3 desperate to make a top roster. Top 24 or so team league paid salaries would start at 6 figures and increase drastically toward the top 10 teams towards multiple 100s of thousands. Base salary would require a certain number of tournaments to be played annually but can earn additional bonus by playing extra, qualifying for more, winning. Lots of incentive based bonuses for teams and players. Minimum 1 year severance pay for any team or player booted out of the league. The sheer money would brute force it to be the most relevant and media covered competitive gaming ever, and ongoing. It would not really be a business trying to make profit, just funded by a billionaire madman passionate Halo 3 fan. Incredible, next level fan experience at the quarterly tournaments and world championship tourney. Luxury hotel with a massive arcade, amateur fan tournies, merch shops, dining, bars, etc.. the Mainline events would always be 4v4 Hardcore, but there would also be big free for all, 2v2, and 4v4 Radars as well as the occasional elective tournies for BTB 8v8, snipers, and campaign speedunning tournaments all with live audience. You’d get massive audience because the tickets would be free, just open to anyone who can come stay at hotel and be a patron at the live events. Qualifying players would have all travel paid for and have suites in the hotel during events. Lastly, this entire hotel would also be one giant Halo museum, with all decor, shops, restaurants etc revolving around Halo, and some truly epic displays, like commissioning a life size chief and arbiter statues that look and feel totally real. That kind of stuff. There would be consoles/tvs set up with XBL all over the hotel for anyone to jump into playing online or campaign, as well as LAN rooms for anyone to set up games just for fun. I would spend 100s of millions. I would get it aired on ESPN, the best league employed commentators, scoopers, journalists following all the drama, roster news, tournies. All players would have tracked statistics for their league stats only, tracking K/D, assists, kills per game, sniper accuracy, I’d have entire team dedicated to tracking all data, stats would be annual just like sports players and after a few years you would have players collectible cards with stats on the back. There would be annual awards for MVP, slayer of the year “Kills per game”, sniper of the year, K/D champion, “teammate of the year” for most assists per game. And ofc a huge award show with live audience and acceptance speeches, and top 100 plays/kills of the year shown live etc.. some events done for charitable causes. I’ve thought about it a lot. It is my ultimate dream. If I ever win the powerball and have liquidity in that stratosphere, im 1000% doing this. It would be the most fun, rewarding job to do and create hundreds and hundreds of well paying jobs. Transform Halo and video games.
