    How does the Heco image? It seems to have a nice tonalety. I have Martin Logan ESL at the moment but I feel like I'm ending up listening to musik that sounds good on them. But one thing that ML does very good is space and image.

    • @blackcatsarenopussies
      @blackcatsarenopussies 6 місяців тому

      Man, you got me here. It's a very esoteric term, sound image and so. Not familiar with ML but heard nice things about them. However, I understand what you mean by listening to music that complements certain speakers. From my experience the Direkt sounds great with everything, even with music I don't like or with poor recordings. They bring a sense of joy to listening which is very hard to define, I've become less hifi listener and more music listener, if it makes sense

      Thanks, man. Actually these little Dali are my son's, used in a small room setup. In this big room I use Heco Direkt 2 ways, check some other videos. System is Sugden A21SE amp, Rega RP6/Exact, Micromega MyGroov phono amp. At the time of this video I was using Audiolab 8200CDQ as a DAC. Nowadays using a very good SMSL-SU9 DAC

    Love that amp. Just wish it had balanced inputs for a dac like that to plug in...or an optical input. In fact, I just wish Sugden made an Integrated amp with a dac and streamer, but then they'd probably ruin their "purist" image. Oh well.

    • @blackcatsarenopussies

      Haha. I guess you're overthinking it. Got a SSML SU-9 DAC and couldn't be happier. Yes, ,one more cable but it's ok. As for balanced inputs, you dont really need that in the real life, domestic environment. Tried amps with available balanced inputs, honestly couldn't tell the difference. Suggest you get one, you'll forget the small things

    It seem roll off early with little extension , the sound is not grand at all .i have similar experience with kef r3 meta , clean refined sound with slightly forward vocal with not much bass extension at all .the q-acoustics concept 40 has the similarity too , they focus on the clean , clear sound ,mids and highs not so on bass extension .

      No idea, man what roll off is. The room is too large for them anyway, over 40 Square metres. But they reallybshine in smaller, medium size room. Bass is outstanding, but again depends of the room, source, recording etc. In room response, bass extension is awesome. Some of the best speakers i heard. They are bow sitting in a smaller room as part of a second system

The room is large, high ceiling etc but it's not an empty, cold , echoey room. Have one big openings on the side and another at the other end of the room. It might be just the speakers which sound really big of course helped by the room acoustics. And the record as well, it's a very well produced album but with a huge reverb, typical for the blues genre and particularly a characteristic of Hans Theesink's music

Warmth, clarity, texture and detail in one package. The more expensive Sugdens are great but the 21SE has something magical Check reviews on 6moons and other many publications on the web. Personally, I love it to death

      just read that the Sudgen A21 had magic and that real Sudgen sound has gone from 2009 on. Perhaps only buying an old Sudgen power amp. Now listening Diana Krall with Naim CdX2.2 vs Vault 2 Streamer-Rega DacCombo (A-B switching) with Rotel RB-980 Bx over Naim Nac 282. Sudgen HA-4 could not bring the joy in piano or guitar, but I did only listen to Bluesound Vault 2 and had not yet rolled in the Cdx2.2 / Xps2 combo. Now the crucial moment: switching off Rotel power amp and bringing in Naim Nap 250 power amp. If the difference is huge, a vintage Sudgen power amp could bring me the warmth I wanna hear. Otherwise a Sudgen preamp or the A21 SE. I do not know for now yet. Yes the Duos stay, but fair enough, the Naim CDX2.2 stays too and the Naim Nac 282 brings such a dynamic and stays too. Nowhow about the Nap 250 ? Is it too much dynamic and brightness for my syste. Around midnight I will decide :-). Cheers. Kind regards.

      It's not really big enough even though it's Edwardian with larger rooms than new homes.my wife hates them but I would find it hard to sell them .i didn't buy them don't worry not at that price.i was lucky enough to inherit my father's entire set up including thousands of vinyls.they are beautiful but you do need quite a large room .my listening room is twenty feet by twenty five into the walk in bay window .it's not our main sitting room so I get away with it much to the annoyance of the wife.if anything has to go it might be her not my speakers😂 you know how we get over our stuff.the neck wasn't a brand I was familiar with until recently they are impressive..I was using chario academy serendipity that I did like and used daily .k couldn't part with those either so there stored in loft as they were my first pair of really good speakers used of course.

      I know, wives usually feel threatened by our hobbies. Mine was too but she came around and is now actually proud of "our" speakers. Every now and then I catch her off guard with some unusual songs she never heard before. She sits down and listens although she's not into music at all

    • @blackcatsarenopussies
      @blackcatsarenopussies 2 роки тому

      Thanks, David. They sound big, bold and very, very fast. Almost all other speakers sound lifeless by comparison. I know UA-cam demos are silly but you can have a fraction of it. They also manage to sound equally good at lower volumes, details, bass, everything. Midrange is direct and very pleasant. Never distorting at high volumes, can be driven at insane levels with just 2 watts. A good amplification is required though, anyway nothing esoteric and crazily expensive

    Hi blackcatsarenopussies, Awesome setup. Im here because i ordered a new Sugden A21SE, waitin on the delivery. Its gonna take 2 months. My speakers are B&W Anniversary 603. Couldnt find much youtube video's with these speakers or older versions. I will someday upgrade to Spendor or Heco, but for now i will have to live with 603. Do you think i can get away with 603 at 10 oclock or 90 db without clipping. Thanks and Cheers.

    • @blackcatsarenopussies
      @blackcatsarenopussies 3 роки тому

      Hi Kevin. The Sugden will drive the B&Wb without any problem. The Spendor A5 is not an easy drive at 85 dB and lowish impedance but the A21SE drove them easily, filling a huge room with big sound. You will be very happy with it, I am sure. Pls, report back after receiving and getting used with the new sound 🍺🍺🍺

      Anyway, as with any amp/speaker try having a gentle approach when turning up the volume, gradual, incremental until you reach the desired output. It worths mentioning that you should turn the volume down to zero before switching off and make sure the volume is set to zero before turning on. Turning on: source on, then the amp. Turning off: volume to zero, amp off then source off I do not recommend leaving the amp, any amp, on while not listening

    Google Translator means (from russian): "Detailing is beyond praise ". I can confirm this. Do you think they will work with a Denon PMA 860 amp? Maybe I will invest later in a better one if necessary...

    • @blackcatsarenopussies
      @blackcatsarenopussies 3 роки тому

      Thanks, man. I know Google translate but no idea how to copy the text of a UA-cam reply That Denon will be surely able to drive them. But as for sound quality I am not sure. I tried them with a Marantz PM7005 which is a pretty good one but it didn't sound great. It wasn't bad though but I could tell the difference. How big is your room? I would really recommend Spendor A5. Discontinued and can be had used for great price. Might be all the speakers you'll ever need. I think I have a video or two with them here, do a search.

    Hi, I have the opportunity to purchase some spendor a5, I already have some fyne audio f501 and monitor audio silver 200 with a naim supernait running them. The spendor are a lot older than my other current speakers but I may be able to get them a a good price. Any suggestions? Regards

      @blackcatsarenopussies 3 роки тому

      I love the A5. I like also the silver series from monitor audio a lot. Not sure about the Fyne but if they sound like a tannoy than it's not for me. You have to trust your own ears. Take into account the synergy or lack of it with the Supernait. Heard once the A5 with the Nait 5i and didn't sound so good. The room was also terrible. Anyway, I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it. If you can talk to the seller for a demo with your gear and option to return that would be great. A5 are fantastic speakers but not sure how they will work in your setup. Sorry I wasn't very helpful, I guess
