Good work! I've been wondering how easy that tank sealant was to use. My hurricane lanterns really paid off during the 8 days I was without power post-Helene and I'm always looking to get more of them. I prefer the old ones that have a bit of "patina", so knowing that POR15 is okay is certainly good news. For peace of mind, I like buying new Feuerhand lanterns since they are the only one left in western civilization and you know that the quality control will be there. Buying new isn't nearly as fun as buying something that's been around for awhile, though!

I've been learning how to "restore" cast iron pans recently myself. I've ordered a few antique ones from ebay that said they were restored, cleaned and seasoned, but when they got to me the cooking surface still had rough spots on it from old seasoning or cooking. After watching a few dozen videos I took the plunge and took out my electric sander with 80 grit paper and smoothed it out to mostly bare metal. But it was smooth. I cleaned it again and used canola oil at 450 in the oven and it works great. As others may have mentioned here, heat and oil are your friends in cast iron. I thin coat the whole cooking surface with oil, be it olive or canola before I drop my eggs or meat in there. Not deep fried, but I get no sticking doing it that way. The only sticking I get is carmelization from sauces, sugar or burned juice from the meat, but it comes right off in really hot water and a wipe. Not too different from teflon. Eventually I'll use less oil as it gets more seasoned on the fly but it's kinda fun restoring old pans.

The circular shape of the bail handle and the stepped font tank probably puts it in the 1940's. I used to know the traits of every D-Lite from 1913 to 1957. The date and where it was made is stamped on the air tube about half way up from the lift lever side. Sometimes it takes a strong magnifying glass out in the sunlight to see the numbers. It might say S-3-45 for Syracuse March 1945. It's nice to see it running again. Good job!

yeah, Brian and I worked together for a couple of decades. I think in this video I had some wood stashed under the cedar tree. It was somewhat dry in the morning. But we just didn't think we would get as much rain as we got overnight. I really need to pay more attention to the weather report. lol.

Girlfriend just got me a backroadz bedtent for christmas and I'm really looking forward to using it. Its pretty hard to find recent yt vids with the series 19 and I gotta say, the red and grey is gonna look great on my red truck if yours looks like that good on your black one. Watched a couple of your vids with it now and its good to know its decent quality and not money wasted on the tent. Stay safe out there! Not sure where your spot is but seems like arizona fall/early winter weather to me. ✌️

It is a great tent. I hope you get one that fits your truck. I can't wait to get back out in the spring. I'm in the Kansas City Missouri area, so it's cold right now. Thank you for watching.

Almost certainly USA made. The bottom number on right hand air tube should be date of manufacture. The other dates a patent dates. I don’t think you overpaid for it. Warning : they’re highly addictive.

Thank you for the info. The last line of numbers says 1 - 4 as far as I can see. I'll spend some more time cleaning it up. maybe the date will become more clear. Thank you for the comment.

Toilet bowl cleaner will eat the rust and crud out of a tank.

I've heard that from more than 1 person. Is there a specific product that is known to work well? I may check into that, if I ever need to do something like this again. Thank you for watching

My father put in 36 years on the railroad. He retired in 1977. Our basement was full of old kerosene "railroad" lanterns with red, green, "white"(clear) and 2 cobolt blue globes. I wish now, that I still had them. Thanks for saving this one and sharing. 👍😁
