Sometimes I tend to visit this soundtrack to wash off the weight off me since I can relate to Simon getting rejected.

You have very gruesome psychological horror games like Manhunt 1/ Manhunt 2 or Postal 1.. but this hits different.. Cry of Fear feels like pure depression and sadness, while you pair it with hatred and anger .

Sad and melancholic.. and so deep. Cry of Fear is the best horror game for free.. Afraid of Monsters was also great and joyful, but CoF ? .. Different story.. different level. The music, monsters, Simons background , the atmosphere ( especially the atmosphere..of being "alone", while these monsters are lurking around the corners of the city...) .. I´m so glad, I found it on Steam back in 2013..

(This is a very long comment) Being a game about mental health awareness I feel like sharing some things about me just to vent it out, if you don't care don't read. I don't have any official diagnosis but suicidal thoughts come frequently with me, there are times when it all just goes away but with life as is, it's almost every day, first thing I think when I wake up, near constantly at work, not so much when I'm back home at night. Any tiny thing I do that I view as an error and I think "I should kill myself", even if nobody else cared or noticed, I have never taken action, only self-harmed once with a compass, it wasn't sharp enough to scar but scarily even though I stopped I felt the urge to keep going. Outside of that I have bigger problems that I'm slowly solving though it may take years. The biggest one being trust issues, I always doubt other people because I'm used to people being evil and manipulative, even if they're good or something in-between it makes no difference to me, everyone blurs together, making something I am always afraid of, I am never able to relax outside of home. There's a slew of other possibke causes, and other health issues I might have but they all just contribute to the same symptoms, I had depression when I was a teenager and am unsure why it came about but it was long lasting so I probably haven't recovered from it even now. There was a period of time when so much went wrong that I developed anxiety but I have since moved past it. I used to have no problems speaking but for years now I've had a frequent stutter and often struggle to speak in a reasonable amount of time, this is likely paranoia because I'm constantly scared of saying something pointless or bothering people. I'm used to even very small things resulting in dismissal, people in the West are deeply lacking in respect, especially children and teenagers, it happened so much that I conditioned myself into thinking that I'm basically never allowed to speak, especially not initiating conversation. All this to say I feel constantly stuck as my fears clash with my ambitions. I don't have psychotic depression but there's a long list of other minore mental health problems that make life miserable at times. ((Sorry for any typos, I wrote this on a phone.))

This is when the game gets REALLY deep.

This is one of the most exciting parts in the game on later playthroughs as you know it’s finally almost over.

This is the one part of the game where I actually relax. Throughout the whole game I’m always on edge waiting for the next horrifying enemy, but the daytime accompanied by this track just makes it so calming.

I Knew about this game for some time, played it for the first time 2 years ago amidst a lot of painful things going on in my life, really enjoyed it and got invested in it, and I happened to get this ending on my first playthrough. Hearing this track along with Simon's confession at the end didn't just make me teary, it made me flat out cry and sob. I've been into video games since I was at least 8, and in the decade since I first played one, I can safely say no other one has made me get to such a state, and feel so gut punched and devastated. I never expected Simon to end up in a good place at the end but seeing this ending where Simon somehow manages to end up not dead and take it in stride is so incredibly humbling. Seeing this 2 years back genuinely made me realize how important it is to keep moving forward with your life. Certainly there may be things along the way that weigh you down, things that could've happened ages ago, but the beauty in life is allowing yourself to forgive, nobody is perfect especially at the stage of life I'm in, along with the one Simon was in. Yet I can say no matter how bad things get, or how much I screw up, I'm at a place where I can forgive myself for it. I never thought a game would be a spark to change my outlook on life so profoundly, Thank you Cry of Fear

This track feels like a cold hug, there's so much weight to it and you know the interaction between Simon and Sophie is more complicated than what is being let on, yet they both try to be as respectful as possible because at the end of the day nobody wants to hurt someone they know.
