Cold start up, no cat, baffles are installed in mufflers, 60k-65k miles on engine. Start up from cold: engine programmed to hold high RPM for a few seconds to warm up converter, then drops to 1k or so. After warmed up, engine idles at 900 rpm

AMC Javelin burnout

72 AMC Javelin with a freshly built 401 revs quickly and takes off smoothly.
Just stop doing stupid stuff with such a rare car. Only 825 Javelin AMX's were built in 1972 with the 401 engine, I've a 1973 since new, March 1973 with 401 and 4 speed, just grow up!
That mustang probably just shit itself when it noticed what was coming up behind it
Gorgeous AMX Javelin
Love that Javelin!
AAAHHH, music to my ears. What A Beauty She Is.. 👍🏼 NEED A Video Ride. I have owned AMC,(American Motors) Vehicles since I was 2 weeks from becoming 18 years old. For over my lifetime I have built well over 277 American Motors, Engines. Along with plenty of others like Ford, Chevy, Dodge, even couple of War Jeeps with couple of military Semi Trucks etc... Also Enhancing and solving the AMC engine Oiling problems with the V8 AMC engines that I built. . Mild lift camshafts, wild Rebuilds .I met many older guys who also taught me so much about one of the coolest Cars I have built and still Drive. I Still Own 3 of them, A 1974 Hornet straight in line 258- 6 all stock rebuilt, A 1970 Ambassador SST with a 390 V8 with 2 extra engines and three Transmissions for her. Another 1970 Rebel Had a 390, 4 speed and an extra 360 V8 with 727 transmission and couple of the M-12, transmissions from a wrecked ones and Parts for sale here and there. Put a 1972 401 from an unfortunate wreck in the Rebel, bought the whole Javelin on the cheap. Then there's the 25 years of Parts I have collected for each one wrapped and boxed for possible Use later. I have drag raced the Rebel she runs 10s not bad for over stock. These American Motors Cars are sweet and the sounds always gets looks. Oh And My Moms old fashioned car is a 1970 SS Chevelle 4 speed. Which I have the pleasant Ownership now, that mom doesn't drive because the Clutch is hard for her. So THESE PEOPLE that Have All Kinds of VINTAGE CARS and TRUCKS no matter the type/make MORE POWER to them.. BTW, that is a Beautiful Javelin with a nice burn out to enhance the smell of the air for reminding us that rear wheel drive IS STILL KING. 😏 👍🏼
I had 72 Chevelle ss 😍 lovem. Were you the one tuning the jav before paint job at garage 🤔
Unfortunately sad to see a 401 needing brakes to spin rear tires with standard transmission no less 😠
I love how the Javelin waits for its prey at the end !!😂🤣 Mustang aint gotta a chance...
What Year? My Dad had an AMC he was heartbroken when he had to sell it.
Nice af!
If that was indeed a 401 I hope he wasn't all the way in it. (Friend had a 360/4speed '71 Javelin and we built it a little and it would do a way better burn out than that.
I like
401?
Awesome, love the stance too.
401?
you mean a 71 javelin right?! or is there something I don't know about early production on a 72? the tail lights are 71 for sure.
Definitely one of my favorite cars!
Hit the curb , check ball joints
But it Was a 6 ,
Man i love these cars and it sounds and looks fantastic but that was one sad burnout lol.
Made that mustang look like a scooter 😂
That Mustang damn near shit itself lol
What neighbor hood is that? Awesome Javelin. The forgotten pony car.
Look how ugly is that.. The ugliest is the better looking for me
That Mustang drove by with it's tail between it's tires!!!
🤣 yes, look like a soccer mom car 🤩
nICE.
I suspect that ain't his car based on how he smacked the curb with the right front wheel/tire!! Ain't mine; why should I care? And certainly doesn't mind wakin' the neighbors - hell they need to wake up from their afternoon nap anyway - right?
Cute stink bug 👀
Fantastic muscle car.
Nice car, but lose the shackles.
Nice ride.
Alabama State Troopers (AL Dept of Public Safety) tried Javelins for 2-3 years. Not as cool as the Catoosa County (GA) Sheriff using mid-70's Trans Ams, but close.
401's are great but have oil starving problems..you MUST fix that if you're going to rev them up...a better bet is the bulletproof 360 4V... you can easily get them to 400 HP and be dead reliable....the 401 does have a forged crank and 4 bolt mains, though...
Nice car, WRONG WHEELS AND TIRES ( ugly ) and shackles on the rear springs to jack it up to fit those wrong offset wheels? Farking AWFUL!!!!!!
Is that color brandy wine? What is the color code?
I just inherited (sort of) a 71 "z code" Javelin ie an AMX....401 10.5:1 super T10 4spd... maybe I'll create a UA-cam station for my rebuild. Then my burnout.
AMC Matador police cars used famously in the 'Adam-12' TV series were also powered by the "big 401"!
Meant noise pollution.
I'll bet neighbors love them to death LOL Beautiful car but such a nice pollution.
Phuck electric cars!!!
Yea wow
My first car was a 71 sst. Hell ya !
who else saw him hit the curb
8
Hope the neighbours slashed the tires and poured brake fluid all over it ! :)
Beautiful car I luv those old school slot mags... 😎👍 lol and shackles too, I had the same setup back in the day... wow... awesome
She's real fine my 401, my fourrr-Oooh-1...
love it
LMAO !!!!! :) sweeeetttt
Not a fan of Javelins like I am of 68-70 AMX
For sale?
Grew up driving these cars, Brother bought a 73 and mom bought new 74. COOL cars
