Aussie here. Just refurbished on of these early Ferguson ploughs, that I purchased for $50. Have it hooked up to a 1946 Petrol TEA20 Ferguson, plan to resow my entire property. New to ploughing hence found the explanation of technique extremely useful.

I moved from Ullapool 27 years ago, lovely area, my great grandmother was from Mellon Udrigal, she settled and raised a family in Durnamuck in Little Loch Broom , one of her daughters was a teacher in Scoraig school in the 30's

I love it! This is the perfect tool for doing swales and retain and infiltrate al rainwater that falls on the property to make it drought proof! The best thing would be to loosen the line first and then plough on swale into it. On contournof course, so the rainwater can sit flat in it and infiltrate slowly! I saw that on Heoff Lawtons canal and it is astonishing what he does to avoid droughts and to increase fertility.

My wife and I walked the Posties Path in July 2016, we've been to most parts of Wild Britain, walked in the Alps on numerous occasions and other various parts of sunny Europe and to this day in our 34 years together, the Posties Path was our best ever days walking, nothing comes a close second. We caught the bus from Achiltibuie to Strathcanaird, started walking at about 13h and planned to be at the hotel at about 20h...Wrong! It was 23h before we hit the tarmac, we were both exhausted and still had a two hour march to the other side of Polglass, with just the drumming of the Snipe for company. Luckily the weather was great. Great work by you all. We don't normally go to the same place twice but Assynt is calling us, we're on Mull this year and may get back next year.

This is the only video in UA-cam that someone explains how to plough opening is done. I’m a new farmer. I didn’t get exactly what pattern should I follow on the field so I don’t mess things up and make ditches. Of course I’m talking for good old non reversible ploughing. Thanks

Hi Mantequilla. Thank you for your comment: it is bad that there is not more information on the internet to help you. The easiest way to see how it is done is to be there when someone else is doing, but I realise this is not always possible. I practiced a bit on a local sandy beach, and when the tide came in it washed away all my mistakes. Not everyone has this luxury though. Ferguson produced a small book in the 1950's on ploughing using their ploughs, and it is the best written instruction I have seen. Just google 'Ferguson Mouldboard Plough Manual', there are usally a number of copies available. It is well worth every penny. Good luck!

@@stevehusband7651 thank you very much for the info. I’ll read the book. Keep making such informative videos in the future when you can. Young farmers around the world don’t have any experience or handbooks to get started in farming business. Most videos are more of a show of of the cool expensive tractor they got.
