Check out our video on previewing. It takes practice but depending on the course, it's sometimes more effective that spending hours reading a textbook and not remembering any of it. ua-cam.com/video/SUHAoKOrl1I/v-deo.htmlsi=PrzUazMNe-tej5Gq

You're right. This approach does take more cards and more time but it does result in stronger learning because you are pushing yourself beyond rote memorization.

Edward, I found the information from your video super applicable as a student in 2022. Attending class from bed is a pitfall. I will use the desk in my bedroom, which will help me stay awake through many zoom lectures.

My problem with online school is it feels like I’m spending more up of my time with school then anything else. I’m trying to not get behind on my workouts or my two jobs.

You are definitely not alone. Students across the country are feeling the same pressure. My best advice is to create intentional blocks of time for school, work, family, and, most importantly, self-care. By completing school-related activities ONLY during designated time blocks, you'll avoid the habit of working on school every minute you're available, which can be demotivating and exhausting. Hope this helps...

Excellent Tips, Alma! Many of these I have shared with students but I will also share this video with my students to point out additional suggestions you have made. Sometimes is good for them to hear it from someone else besides their professor!

One strategy that helps me stay motivated is taking breaks to do things I enjoy during the day. When I get tired after studying, I often listen to music or watch short videos (such as this one lol) to give myself a mental break and re-charge.

One tip to stay motivated I have is taking a break and getting some fresh air. It can be something simple like walking your dog or just going to a park for a bit (with a mask of course). It's always good to have a change of scenery and to be active!

A tip that I would give to stay motivated is listening to music while working on assignments or studying for exams. I listen to music, not only to keep myself motivated, but also move my attention to myself and my work and not to the outside issues that we are all dealing with together. As much I want to worry about the pandemic and other outside issues, I also remind myself that I need to take care of myself first and focus what I need to do NOW. Listening to music helps me keep my focus on myself, and sometimes my playlist of music would play a song or soundtrack that happens to align with what I am doing at the moment, increasing my motivation further. I had times where I am slowly reaching to the end of my assignment or activity and my playlist would play an upbeat-type of song/soundtrack that gives this feeling that you can reach the finish line and would push me to think even harder and finish the assignment sooner. Then I had times where I am doing some serious thinking when trying to figure out a problem and my playlist would play a slower-paced song/soundtrack to match with the serious thinking.

One tip I love to give and do to stay motivate is setting one day or a couple hours a week aside to do something I enjoy like working out, going on a hike, or simply listening to music. These small action help me clear my mind and relax for a few hours.
